Chapter 58: Good News and Bad News
Walking down the corridor towards the inner depths, Lili's heart was undoubtedly filled with apprehension. Whether she could successfully leave the Familia required the god's consent.
"Soma."
Her impression of this god was very complex. When she was young and couldn't get enough to eat, this god would fry potato balls for himself to stave off hunger.
When did she stop going to Soma's room?
It was probably when the former Familia captain, Zanis, tricked her into drinking the divine wine. Lili never saw this benevolent god again.
"."
Standing before the door of the brewery, a flash of struggle appeared in her eyes, but she still reached out and knocked lightly on the door. She didn't receive Soma's permission.
After waiting a moment, Lili knocked again.
There was no answer, but she still pushed open the door without hesitation. The furnishings that came into view were somewhat familiar, continuously overlapping with the images deep in her memory.
The room seemed to be frozen ten years in the past.
If there was a real difference, it was that the room in her memory was simple and warm. Now, as far as the eye could see, it was filled with all sorts of piled-up brewing materials.
Purely serving as Soma's brewery.
The figure standing in front of the workbench wore a white work coat, his thick black hair naturally draped over his shoulders, obscuring most of his face.
Even with an adventurer entering the brewery.
Soma's stirring of the brewing materials didn't pause in the slightest. He was already completely disappointed with all the members of his Familia.
As long as the brewing of the divine wine wasn't delayed…
Lili's gaze didn't linger on these various brewing materials. Her goal was clear as she walked straight towards Soma, her words long since prepared.
She looked up at the god, her tone filled with decisiveness, "Lord Soma."
"I want to leave the Soma Familia. Thank you very much for your past care." She really wanted to say it was the result of the Familia's chaos.
As the sealed memories continuously reappeared.
Lili couldn't bring herself to say such words. She just said firmly, "I have found a new goal. I hope Lord Soma can agree."
"."
Soma's brewing movements paused slightly. He turned around. Even though his hair obscured his vision, he still recognized the child before him.
Without giving an answer, he poured a glass of divine wine for himself and pushed it in front of Lili.
Lili, of course, wasn't foolish enough not to recognize the "Familia Departure Test." Looking at the crystal-clear liquid in the glass.
Her hand, as she picked up the glass, didn't hesitate. She decisively drank it all in one go.
The taste of the divine wine was indeed very enchanting. No wonder the Familia members would… be so crazy. Even her own parents were the same.
The flavor, like nectar and ambrosia, made even Lili dazed for a short moment.
The goal she had always yearned for, and the encounter with… a certain annoying fellow. These were her motivations for wanting to leave the Soma Familia.
Placing the empty wine glass back on the workbench.
The young woman's expression showed no emotion. She once again made her request firmly, "I hope Lord Soma can agree to my request to leave the Familia."
Lili, once regarded as the hope of the Familia's new generation.
After drinking the divine wine without a change in expression, was able to maintain her composure and make her request again. Soma looked at the young woman standing before him.
Beneath his calm face, the shock deep in his heart was hard to conceal.
This was a result he had not expected. He also quickly understood the reason. It was probably caused by the chaotic order of the Familia?
A moment of silence.
Soma continuously reflected and made a decision. Looking down at the child who had found her goal and was striving towards it, he spoke in a low voice.
"Sorry."
This apology was not only for Lili but also for his own past irresponsibility. He did not refuse Lili's request to leave the Familia.
Very rarely, Soma bestowed a blessing on the child in whom he once had expectations.
"Set off. You are just one step away from the direction of destiny. Set sail for the dream you hold firm to, no matter what difficulties you encounter…"
"Thank you."
--- The process of leaving the Familia was exceptionally smooth, which was also something Lili hadn't anticipated. After thanking the god who had once helped her.
He didn't even take back the divine blood within her body.
According to Soma's words, she could keep it until she found a new Familia, and let that Familia's god cover it with their divine blood.
"I wonder…"
"Which Familia that guy belongs to."
The only one Lili could call "that guy" was Liam. Staying in Orario was, of course, largely because of her encounter with Liam.
If she were really asked, she would naturally not admit it.
She hoped to become a stronger adventurer, to be prepared before going to see the merchant couple who owned the flower shop and had once helped her.
Leaving Soma's brewery.
She didn't see Liam's figure in the corridor. Instead, a thick smell of blood assaulted her senses, countless times thicker than before!
"This is…"
The young woman's relaxed expression changed abruptly, replaced by anxiety and unease. Having grown up in the Labyrinth City Orario, this kind of large-scale Familia massacre.
She knew very well how serious the consequences would be!
With a tense heart, Lili arrived at the second-floor corridor. The bloody scene that subsequently entered her eyes, even though she was mentally prepared.
She still couldn't control her body's instinctive urge to retch.
Severed bodies were everywhere; blood flowed on the Familia's wooden floor. No adventurer had been spared in this massacre!
"Are you crazy…"
Lili couldn't help but murmur softly. A strong sense of unease seemed to want to completely swallow her. Following the line of sight towards the figure at the Familia's entrance.
The culprit behind the Soma Familia's destruction was currently leaning quietly against the doorframe of the Soma Familia home.
It couldn't really be called a desire for survival, but she had to escape this city before the tragic case of the Soma Familia's destruction was discovered by the Adventurer's Guild!
She had never worried that the target would be herself.
It could even be said that all her plans had been disrupted. She ran to Liam's side, not minding his calm and puzzled gaze.
Grabbing Liam's hand, Lili had already thought of an escape route.
Using all her strength, yet he remained motionless. She turned around, not to reprimand him, but more out of anxiety, "You're still not leaving? What are you waiting for?"
"To be discovered by the Adventurer's Guild, and then be put on a wanted list?"
"I should have taken you with me when I was leaving the Familia. Why could you be so impulsive? Do you know what the consequences are for massacring a Familia in Orario!"
The young woman's hands were soft, especially with her youthful face paired with a serious expression.
Liam suddenly found it quite interesting. He turned his head to look at the bloody scene inside the Soma Familia and said with a blank expression, "Of course."
"Then why aren't you running!"
"Why should I run?"
Liam shrugged his shoulders, his tone nonchalant, "Soma Familia members attempted to sell highly addictive divine wine in Orario."
"Attempting to shake the very foundation of the adventurers. My actions were to rid the people of a scourge; it was justify."
"Huh?"
The young woman's expression was somewhat dazed. She had never expected this guy to be so righteous, stating that the Soma Familia's demise was a death they deserved!
She looked up, her gaze fixed tightly on Liam.
"You know, justice is written by the victors." Liam shrugged his shoulders, finally looking at Lili, who had stated she would help him earn money in the future.
His attitude was relaxed as he added seriously, "And you are also an enthusiastic citizen of Orario!"
"...?"
So this is how you're gonna play it!
The young man's clear and sunny smile seemed exceptionally jarring against the bloody scene behind him. Lili's expression was complicated, and the heart that had been hanging in suspense was now completely dead.
Good news: She successfully left the Soma Familia.
Bad news: She had boarded a pirate ship!
