Though it was hard to believe, Chicken Leg Douluo could only accept the fact that he had been completely restrained. He was forced to face the truth—this soul engineer standing before him really did possess power equivalent to a Limit Douluo.
And more frighteningly, this man had achieved such power through soul tools.
Xuan Zi's face darkened as he asked coldly, "You must be Kong Deming of the Sun and Moon Empire."
Kong Deming didn't answer. He just responded with icy indifference, "You've got some nerve, trying to kidnap my grand-disciple. Yuhao, what do you think we should do with him?"
Upon hearing that, Chicken Leg Douluo stared intensely at Huo Yuhao, who stood nearby wearing a gentle smile.
He had miscalculated. He never expected Huo Yuhao to hold such a high status in the Sun and Moon Empire, nor did he expect someone like Kong Deming to be guarding him.
'Damn it.'
Xuan Zi cursed inwardly. But right now, he could do absolutely nothing. His 98th-rank Title Douluo cultivation meant nothing in the face of these so-called "trash" soul tools that now left him as helpless as a child.
"Grandmaster," Huo Yuhao said thoughtfully, "I wonder how many hundred-thousand-year soul bones this old fool has on him?"
"To kill him now would bring unnecessary trouble. I'd prefer we keep him alive, at least until we finish some arrangements. But if we strip his soul bones—cripple his strength and then send him back…"
"That way, not only do we gain a controllable pawn, but we also acquire the hundred-thousand-year soul bones that our Sun and Moon Empire so desperately lacks. What do you think?"
"You have a mental-control type soul tool, don't you?"
Kong Deming nodded with satisfaction. "Not bad. We'll do as you say."
To Chicken Leg Douluo, however, these words were like whispers from a devil, plunging him into despair.
'This boy… he's only twelve! How can he be so ruthless?!'
Xuan Zi's expression twisted. He shouted furiously, "You! You can't do this! You bastards—!"
Realizing what was about to happen, he finally prepared to risk it all. At this point, the destruction of Star Luo City meant nothing to him compared to his own life.
But just then, he felt a horrifying chill—his soul power had been completely sealed. He couldn't resist at all.
Kong Deming smiled, slowly walking toward him. "You didn't really think I only had one soul tool to trap you, did you? After all this time, surely you've noticed—my tools do more than just immobilize."
As Kong Deming approached, Xuan Zi broke. His face twisted in fear, and he opened his mouth to beg—but found he couldn't even speak.
Huo Yuhao watched, his expression twitching as Kong Deming extracted soul bones from the now-unconscious Chicken Leg Douluo.
'...Ugh, this is pretty damn gruesome.'
After a while, both of Xuan Zi's arms had vanished. In Kong Deming's hands were two soul bones.
"A hundred-thousand-year right arm bone and a near-hundred-thousand-year left arm bone. The rest are complete, but not worth taking—they're low-grade. I wouldn't even bother with them."
"Without these two bones, this old man's cultivation will fall to around Rank 90. He'll never be able to advance again."
"If not for your courage today, Yuhao, we never would've caught such a big fish. Once I've taken these bones back to the Empire and tested them, if there's one suited to you, you'll get it."
Huo Yuhao was thrilled. 'Old man, you're too kind. Giving me free soul bones like this.'
Though as for the left arm bone, Huo Yuhao had little intention of absorbing it—unless it proved to be stronger than his current Ice Jade Scorpion's Ice Explosion skill.
"As for how to handle this Shrek geezer," Kong Deming continued, "I've already planted a ninth-grade mental control soul tool on him. It's hard to detect and won't easily be exposed. He'll act nearly identical to his former self while working for us."
"Yuhao, what would you like him to do?"
Huo Yuhao cleared his throat. "Grandmaster, this old guy tried to kidnap me in order to use my Ultimate Ice to purify the evil fire in that Phoenix Martial Soul girl—Ma Xiaotao from Shrek Academy."
"In other words, if her evil fire continues to grow, she may eventually become a terrifying evil soul master wielding Ultimate Fire. If the Holy Spirit Sect were to discover and nurture her, she could become a threat on par with their Limit Douluo."
Kong Deming nodded in surprise. "You sure know a lot, Yuhao. You're exactly right. We can't let the Holy Spirit Sect produce any more powerful evil soul masters."
"In that case, we should just kill her now."
But Huo Yuhao shook his head. "Grandmaster, that wouldn't benefit us at all right now."
"You've managed to control a Rank 98—well, now Rank 90—Title Douluo. Wouldn't it be even better if we purify Ma Xiaotao with my Ultimate Ice, then turn her into a loyal asset of our Sun and Moon Empire?"
"And with her working alongside Xuan Zi, we might even extort Shrek Academy again while we're at it."
Huo Yuhao then laid out a detailed plan he had long since prepared—one that was based on the future exchange program between Shrek Academy and the Sun and Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy.
After listening, Kong Deming clapped with laughter. "Brilliant! Yuhao, you're an extraordinary talent. With a brain like yours and your strength… hahaha!"
"I promise you, when we bring that Ultimate Fire girl under control, she's yours to command. And whatever we gain from this—my precious disciple will get a hefty share!"
Huo Yuhao gave a slight bow and smiled. "Thank you, Grandmaster."
After controlling Chicken Leg Douluo as planned and sending him off, Kong Deming took Huo Yuhao for a stroll around Star Luo City. The two chatted warmly about soul tools and the current state of the Empire.
By noon, Huo Yuhao returned cheerfully to the Star Crown Hotel.
There, he found the rest of the Sun and Moon team just returning from their match.
Responding warmly to each greeting, Huo Yuhao asked, "How was the match?"
Ma Rulong replied, "We've secured our spot in the finals. As for our opponent..."
"It's Shrek."
From the window, Xiao Hongchen replied in a calm, detached voice, staring off into the distance with an air of "invincible loneliness."
Huo Yuhao grinned to himself.
Meng Hongchen, watching her brother act so aloof, couldn't help but run over and kick him. "Oh please, big bro. It's just the finals against Shrek. Don't act like you're some tragic hero."
"You little—!"
Xiao Hongchen instantly dropped the act and started bickering with her.
Ma Rulong shook his head and said, "Alright, alright. Tomorrow is the finals against Shrek Academy—the most important battle of all. Get over here and let's seriously discuss our strategy."
Huo Yuhao nodded. He had many crucial points to pass on to his teammates and friends for the match ahead.
