Chapter 10 - The puppeteers game

Somewhere in Lumin city,

The evening sun cast a faint glow over the charred remains of the apartment, the walls cracked and blackened from the fire that had ravaged the space. Calista and Jenny sat on a makeshift bench, the only sound the distant hum of traffic and the creaking of burnt wooden beams. Jenny's long, dark hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, framing her face.

Jenny leaned forward, her eyes locked onto Calista's. "I met with Aurora today," she said, recounting their conversation. "I planted doubts about Liam's intentions. We'll see how she reacts."

Calista nodded, her expression interested. "And what was her response?"

Jenny hesitated, her brow furrowed in thought. "She seemed cautious, but I think she might listen. I'll need to keep pushing her gently, see if she bites."

Calista's eyes narrowed. "Be careful not to push too hard. We don't want to scare her off."

Jenny nodded, her hair shifting slightly as she moved. "I'll be careful. But we need to wait and see how this plays out."

The air was thick with the smell of smoke, the remnants of furniture and belongings scattered around them. But despite the destruction, Calista and Jenny seemed unfazed, their focus solely on their plan.

As they sat in silence, the shadows cast by the fading light seemed to grow longer. Calista's eyes sparkled with anticipation. "What do you think?" Jenny asked, breaking the silence. "Do you think it'll work?"

Calista smiled. "I think it'll work out perfectly. We just need to give it time.

Calista pulled out her phone and dialed a number. After a few rings, a voice picked up. "Yes?" the voice said.

"It's me," She said. "I have an update."

"Go ahead," the voice replied.

"Jenny met with Aurora today," Calista said. "She planted doubts about Liam's intentions. Aurora seemed cautious, but Jenny thinks she might be willing to listen."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "That's good," the voice said finally. "What's the next step?"

"Jenny will keep pushing gently," Calista said. "We'll see how Aurora reacts."

The voice on the other end of the line seemed to think about this for a moment. "Keep me updated," it said finally. "I want to know the moment anything changes."

"I will," she said. "We'll get what we want."

The line went dead, and Calista tucked her phone away. She turned to Jenny, who was watching her with interest.

"What's the plan now?" Jenny asked.

"We wait," Calista said. "And see how Aurora reacts."

Jenny nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. "I think it'll work out just fine."

Calista smiled, her eyes locked on Jenny's. "I'm sure it will. We just need to be patient."

"Do you think Aurora will fall for it?" she asked again. Calista's smile grew wider. "I think she's already starting to."

Jenny's eyes sparkled with amusement. "And what about Liam?"

Calista's expression turned cold. "He'll get what's coming to him."

The darkness outside seemed to grow thicker, but in the burnt-out apartment, Calista and Jenny sat, their plan unfolding like a puzzle.

Meanwhile,(we will refer to the person in charge as "the director ")

The room was dimly lit, the only sound the soft hum of a computer. The Director sat in a chair, his eyes fixed on the messenger standing before him. "Progress?" he asked, his voice low and even. The messenger nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Liam and Aurora are getting closer. They're starting to trust each other."

The Director's eyes narrowed. "And the messages? Are they having the desired effect?"

The messenger nodded again. "Yes. Liam is getting more cautious, and Aurora is starting to wonder if she's made a mistake trusting him."

The Director leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Good. Keep sending the messages. We need to keep them on their toes."

The messenger nodded, his eyes gleaming with understanding. "I'll keep pushing them, make them question everything."

The Director's gaze lingered on the messenger, his expression unreadable. "See that you do. And what's the status on the wedding plans?"

The messenger hesitated for a moment before responding. "They're moving forward, but slowly. Liam and Aurora are still discussing the details."

The Director's expression turned impatient. "I want that wedding to happen as soon as possible. Make sure they don't delay any further." The messenger nodded, his eyes wide with understanding. "I'll make sure to nudge them along, sir."

The Director leaned forward, his eyes locked on the messenger's. "Good. I want everything in place before the wedding. We can't afford any mistakes." The messenger nodded again, his face serious. "I'll take care of it, sir. Everything will be ready." The Director nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Good. I expect nothing but perfection."

The messenger turned to leave, but the Director's voice stopped him. "One more thing."

"Yes?" the messenger asked, turning back.

"Make sure the messages are subtle. We don't want to spook them yet. But at the same time, make sure they know we're watching."

The messenger nodded, a sly smile spreading across his face. "Don't worry, sir. I've got it under control."

The Director nodded, his eyes never leaving the messenger's face. "Good. I expect results. And I expect that wedding to happen on schedule."
