Chapter 13 - Encounter

When I got into my room, Daiki came inside with me.

The room was high quality.

The room extended to the left when you opened the door.

Toward the far right corner was a double-sized bed with a grey blanket and a white bedsheet alongside four pillows.

To its right was a desk with a standard chair. Above it was a small bookshelf with dozens of books. And above all that was the AC.

When you entered, on the right wall of the room toward the end corner was the bathroom door. The wall was greyish like the meeting room.

The room was pretty spacious. Everything was high quality.

I dropped onto the bed.

"That was rough," I sighed.

"How was it?" Daiki asked as he tailed me into the room.

"Everything was good. I especially had fun with the philosophical fight between Hayato and me," I said, still lying down on the bed, completely tired out.

"You crushed it though. You literally defeated the infamous Hayato in the thing he's known for," Daiki said, leaning back against the right wall in front of the door.

"I don't really care about it though," I said in a tired tone. I suddenly got up on my knees on the bed from lying down and said, "You know what I care about... What are you?" I asked.

"I suppose it's time I explain to you what happened," he said. I nodded.

Daiki slowly told me everything in detail—what had happened.

Although I didn't mention it, I figured it was the same condition VoidMind told me about, in which a Regulator doesn't work properly. I still did NOT understand how he could use his powers now—but VoidMind was always there.

VoidMind: "By his father's rule set, he was sent to the adapting age, which is between 4–7. In this age, a kid adapts to everything his body has. In his case, he, in that moment, had a Regulator, and his body adapted to the use of the Regulator from its use to instinct.

In simpler terms, after that time, he didn't need the best of a Regulator to maintain his power—as he himself is a prodigy.

So after the rule set was undone, his Regulator, which didn't previously function right, was no longer needed to be in perfect condition."

VoidMind explained, and I was amazed by so many secrets and the depth of how magic works. It had been a while since I was surprised—so it really did hit me again.

"Hey, Daiki, I don't wanna be mean or anything, but can you tell me about your sister?"

"What do you wanna know specifically?" he questioned.

"Wel..." Just when I was confused about what to say, the door knocked.

"Come in," I said.

The door opened. Daiki moved away from it.

It was Riko, her face completely expressionless as she entered the room.

"Uh... Hey sis, what brings you here?" Daiki questioned.

"Well, that's none of your business," she said to Daiki like any old sister would.

"Huh? What do you have to do with Kuroto?" Daiki asked, wondering, while I just watched them talk.

"That's also none of your business. Get out of the room," she said to Daiki.

"What? You can't just kick me out, Ku—" he said, getting cut off.

"Daiki, talk to you later," I said to Daiki as I got up from the bed and sat on the chair.

"What?" Daiki was completely confused.

"Well, okay, I guess," he said as he started exiting the room.

"No peeking," Riko warned Daiki.

"Well, alright," he said as he exited the room.

"Is she confessing her love or something that she doesn't want me to be there?" Daiki murmured.

"What did you say?" Riko asked, slightly hearing his voice.

"Nothing," Daiki said.

Riko settled down, sat on the bed, and sighed.

"So, how have you been... Death?" Riko questioned. The slight suspicion she wasn't one of them was confirmed—and now I also knew which Goddess reincarnation she was.

"You know, you don't have to bring up the old nicknames," I said to Riko.

"Can't help it. You've always been a friend named Death to me. Besides, it's not like I'm gonna call you that in front of the others," said Riko.

"That was obvious, but no matter. How have you been, Creation?" I questioned her, calling her by the old nickname.

"I've been great. What's your story with Kuroto? Mine is just fine with Riko," she said and asked.

"Ah... To be honest, it's not so great. I've been inside of this Kuroto and have become him and the God of Death. Our identity is mixed. At some times, I feel like Kuroto, and sometimes I feel like the God of Death. And aside from that Black Cloaked Manipulator's dungeon, everything up till now has been good," I said to Riko.

"That happened to you? Well, what's your ability?" Riko questioned me again.

"Currently, I have VoidMind and Fear. VoidMind is like an assistant ability, while Fear is just as its name suggests. I'm able to release fear itself into the atmosphere with particle-like things. I'll tell you about it in detail one day. Anyway, what are your abilities?" I answered.

"They're the same as Daiki's ability, but he's a prodigy, so I can't quite compete with him if we're on equal terms. By the way, any information on the other god reincarnates?" she questioned.

"I don't. It seems you don't either—but hey, I met the God of Absolute," I said.

"You did? Been a while since I saw him myself," she said.

"How did you gain your ability?" I questioned.

"I actually just had it on me on day one," she said.

"What? I didn't have any myself. I had to go through death on day one to gain mine," I said.

She laid down on the bed with her hands beneath her head and said, "I guess you're just unlucky," she chuckled.

"By the way, what did you mean back then by the abyss that devours all?" She questioned.

"The abyss I was and am gonna refer to is the end of something before it achieves what it could have and would have wanted," I answered.

"What does that even mean?" She questioned again, still confused.

"The abyss is what I refer to as the end before everything that one could have achieved or wanted to achieve.

For example there's millions of things one can achieve and would like to achieve in this world of existence, but there's never a moment where you can ever achieve everything.

There would always be something one wanted to achieve in their life, but before they could, they were devoured. A person might want to achieve everything that could've ever interested them, or needed to be achieved but couldn't.

Take the Original Creator for example, even he couldn't make the perfect life that he wanted to himself, so he had to pass his rulership down to God of Absolute, and there's several things he could've achieved if he was in a different scenario, but he couldn't do it even with immortality.

The abyss will suck your life before you can achieve everything, and if you're immortal, it would suck all that you would have achieved into it, even if you're immortal there's things you still can't do, even with a being of powers that the Original Creator possessed you would never achieve everything.

Achieving righteousness is my everything, and as long as there's the abyss I can't find true righteousness, so I'll simply have to devour it before it devours me. That's what I refer to as the abyss.

So the abyss is the final destination before what you'd want to achieve, it's a path that comes before the destination, but since no one's ever passed through it, it has become the final destination.

The abyss is the wall that stands before us, and beyond it is everything you would've and could've wanted—but the abyss devours you before you can reach it.

That is the abyss I refer to, and I'll pass through it, and to do so I'll have to become a part of the abyss, or rather the abyss itself."

She went into a deep thought for a couple of minutes and the room became silent.

I changed the subject by asking something else since I didn't want her to think about it as much.

"Any suspicions who the other god reincarnates could be?" I asked her.

"I have absolutely no idea. But hey, at least the two of us met not so long after the memory recovery," she smiled.

"By the way, have you told Daiki about your origin?" I asked Riko.

"Not yet, because the rule set was undone only recently—thanks to you. But have you told anyone?" she asked.

"Well, I hav—"

"Wait, really? Who did you tell?" she jumped up and cut me off, kind of.

"It's Misora that I told," I answered.

"Oh... by the way, what is Misora's ability?" Riko asked.

"As a matter of fact, I don't actually know it myself... dude, something's wrong with me for not knowing that—what," I said to myself in a slightly humorous manner.

"Well, no matter," she said and we both laughed remembering the good old days.

We both got up. I stepped toward the door to open it, and she started to head outside.

"Let's continue this conversation some time later," I said, and she nodded.

We both clapped each other's hand when she walked past me to the outside, and I said, "Let's both do our best." And she replied with, "Yea."

She was gone and I laid back on the bed, tired.

Personally I felt very happy seeing Creation again, actually of all the Gods she was personally the one I wanted to see first the most, which actually happened.

She and I have good chemistry from both lives, and there wasn't a slightest bit of discomfort when talking to each other, ever.

Getting to see one of the god reincarnates this early wasn't something I'd expect if God of Absolute hadn't reincarnated each of us in different countries, but if Riko is here then I think the other god reincarnates are in Japan as well.

Daiki and I had exchanged contact information, and so did Toshiro and I.

Toshiro told me I'd get a key of my own to open the gate.

But I do wonder—how does he even have a gate of his own, or whatever it is, where we have the base?

Laid down on my bed, I wondered what to do now. And then VoidMind spoke up.

VoidMind: "Before you get any work for yourself, such as a dungeon raid or any job that involves fighting, I recommend mastering Fear Manifestation first."

Yeah, that's a good idea. Anyway, VoidMind, how does Fear Manifestation even work, and what does it do?

VoidMind: "Fear Manifestation works by gathering the fear particles you use and combining them into any object. Naturally, the more you master it, the stronger your Fear Manifestation will be.

Fear Manifestation consists of doing physical damage rather than using Fear just to put fear into one's mind.

For example, if you want to, you can use Fear Manifestation to make yourself a dagger that only you can handle. Fear or Fear Manifestation doesn't affect you. Fear Manifestation is the incarnation of fear itself as a friend of yours. In fact, it's to a certain extent that you can almost say it's not your power, but it's borrowed.

It obviously wouldn't be as strong of a Fear Manifestation for a long time like you had in your fight against the Black Cloaked Manipulator, since that level of strength, for the time being, can only be drawn by using Instinct Takeover—which you mustn't ever use unless death is absolutely certain otherwise."

Okay, I get it. Well, it doesn't even matter because if you won't approve, I wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

The Fear Manifestation makes a lot of sense now. If it just manifests those fear particles into any shape I want, I could do a lot of things with it during battle.

I sighed and decided to take a nap, because the psychological torment Hayato put me through tired me out—especially because it's only been a few days since I woke up from the coma.

A thirty-minute nap later, I woke up. Now refreshed, I checked my phone.

Two minutes ago, Daiki messaged me: "Wanna do some training?"

It was perfect, since VoidMind suggested I master Fear Manifestation as soon as possible.

The second I replied "yes," the door knocked.

"Come in," I said.

It was Daiki. Damn this teleporter brat.

He leaned in and said, "Come, let's go outside," then started running back down the hallway toward the wall where he'd open the gate.

I immediately got up from the bed and exited the room after turning everything off.

I ran toward Daiki to catch up, while he slowly walked with his hands in his pockets.

"How was the nap?" he asked.

"It was good," I said as I yawned.
