We drove past the city and out into the country.
I recognized this land. We were going near the lands of the shifter pack that gave me my ultrasound. I guess the cabin is on the same land, but I never asked. Then again, this was all so sudden, I had no time to ask questions. Survive first, questions later.
Soon I will get to the point where nothing will shock me anymore, but for now I still have
many questions.
We pulled up a long, curvy, dirty driveway and just over the hill I saw it.
The most beautiful two story log cabin I have ever seen. It had large windows in the front and on the second floor, where there was a balcony that went over the water like a fishing dock. I have never seen anything like it.
I saw Nicole looking just as amazed as I was; this was a first for both of us.
"Well?" Adrian asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"It's beautiful," I whispered
as I gazed at the pier on the second floor juttingover the lake, and the little pier across
the lake.
The light from the moon and stars reflected off the water; it truly was beautiful.
"Are you ready to see our new home?" Adrian whispered playfully.
"You are my home," I answered as I turned to kiss him.
"Hey lovebirds! Let's get inside before sunrise," David said playfully as he swung his arm over Nicole's shoulder and walked up to the door of the cabin.
Adrian picked me up and cradled me like a baby to the door, and in through the threshold.
I looked around in amazement at our new home.
This wasn't the happily ever after I had in mind, but for now, it will do.
We know we have a difficult road ahead, but as long as we have each other, we will not only survive, we'll thrive.
