Chapter 6 - Three nights two days

"So can I ask why you cut your hair?"

Sofia noticed that Nathan was trying to cover the little distance between them.

When she thought about how to respond to his action, a voice in her head told her that she had to let him get into her romantically as it would definitely create a bond between them and it happened to be the fastest way to get into his heart. So she had to play along even if it didn't sit well with her.

The thought of her acting and trying to blend in reminded her of how the police officer deceived her gang. It was exactly how he was able to get them to trust him as he did a good job acting like a true gangster.

She didn't suspect a thing because he adjusted himself so well and it didn't even shake his zeal for the mission.

Before that police officer was an enemy to her; someone she wanted to kill so badly but now, he was an inspiration to the achievement of the success to their perfect plan of ruining the royal Lycan family's life.

Sofia observed how comfortable he was around her from the way he was sitting.

He had one of his legs curved on the bed while his other leg was resting on the floor that was covered with a fluffy gray rug.

She dragged her gaze to his face.

He was dressed like the ruler he was. His dressing was modern and luxurious.

The wolf king in front of her jawlines were sharp with hollow cheeks, his beards were full. He had a big pointed nose. She looked at his eyes to see that they were doe amber, shining and looking like they were interested in everything they looked at.

He would be a good model in her time. His face had the required features for that role.

His hair was longer than hers as it was just above his shoulder but hers was right by her neck. His hair was black but was kind of mixed with white hair. The white hair was around the front of his head.

No lie, he was a fine man and hanging out with him for a successful mission wouldn't be so hard. That's what Sofia thought.

"Why do you ask?" She finally said something after staying quiet for a minute. He had thought she was thinking of a reason or how she was going to explain herself.

"You just didn't do a good job. Although you look good with short hair," his tone is always so calm that she couldn't imagine what he would sound like if he was angry.

However, his voice was very deep and a bit intimidating. She could feel vibrations around her whenever he spoke.

"I look good in any style," said Sofia.

He chuckled. "My mate is beautiful, I know that," his eyes dropped to her lips. "She is," and he smiled like a child; a full smile with nothing trying to hinder it.

The more they interacted the more Sofia acknowledged the difficulties of her job because she couldn't read any wickedness in him.

Sofia still had the knife behind her and when he was this close to kissing her, she wrapped her hand around the knife, about to attack him with it but then she remembered that she needed to play along.

His lower lip was planted between her lips while his upper lip pressed her upper lip into his mouth. It was a gentle kiss of...assurance?

She didn't understand why he kissed her and she didn't kiss him back nor did she feel anything or close her eyes to receive the kiss. She just didn't pull away.

He pulled back with his hand under her chin. "Do you wanna stay here some more or will you come with me?" He asked.

She stared at him, almost squinting eyes wondering why he wasn't disgusted by the kiss. She was sure that she hadn't washed her mouth since she collapsed in the forest and he tasted that smelly mouth of hers without hesitation. That was gross.

"Um, how long have I been here?" She was curious about how long her mouth hadn't been washed.

"It's three nights and two days. I check on you every day. The man who tried to kill you refused to speak or say anything about why he wanted to end your life so he…"

'Three nights?' she swallowed. 'Is this how people of this time behaved?' her eyes judged him from his head to his toe. 'Why should I care?' She closed the topic and decided to comment on the man who tried to kill her.

"Ahh, that," she said. "He tried to kill me because…" she searched the previous host's memories for something.

It struck her mind suddenly. Though she was disgusted, she said something and added some lies to it so it would increase the wolf's punishment.

The man had tried making out with the former Sofia but she kept refusing and when he almost had his way, Diego saved her and punished him for such an act.

"He saw both of us the night we knew each other. He wants me but when he finds out that I'm your mate, he tries to… I was scared," she covered her forehead with her palm. "Very scared," she whimpered, sniffling as she acted broken. "Each day, my fear for men grows," she added.

"He touched you because you are my mate?" His voice was different now. The vibration she felt increased so much that she felt her heart moving from her chest. He was growling and fuming.

No, he didn't sound calm and steady. He sounded like a fierce king but still wasn't yelling.

Looking so innocent and victimized, she nodded. "He stabbed me three times, why?" She looked down. "I didn't want to think about this but you had to mention it."

"How should I judge him?" He asked.

"Why are you…"

"You are my mate."

"But…"

"No buts," he cut her off. 'That's what I thought,' she smirked inwardly.

"If it's up to me, I'd make him my servant," she uttered.

"But he could try to do worse," the Lycan king mentioned.

"Not when I'm the Lycan king's precious mate, right?"
