"Herring, Come here! Look at this! My god!"
Their shadows became large on the huge rock when Bob brought the burning wood over the lifeless body and gasped, "Alas! It is a young woman!"
The body of the yound lady was wrapped in a shabby and worn out blue gown that reached her ankles. The face was covered with her damp hair but the interstice of the jet-black hair allowed the pale skin to illuminate under the glow of fire.
Was she dead?
No one could tell.
Mr. Fiszer managed to turn her body a little and put his fingers near the opening of her nose. He exclaimed after feeling the slight warmth of exhale. "She is alive."
Just to confirm his assertion, he even put his fingers around her wrist. "Weak, but it is there. Her nerves are there."
The waves of the sea had drenched her body. In fact, the sand grains were coating the bare portion of her legs and arms like a second layer. Numerous small cuts were visible on the uncovered part of her shivering body. "Her body is so cold."
"For how long could she have been here?"
"We don't have time to think about it. Let's bring her to the hospital before something worse happens!" Mr. Fiszer was quick to abide his inner thoughts and tried to pick up the girl but failed. "You brat! Come here!" He turned to his son and called out.
Amidst the racket, no one noticed when Jacob went eerily silent and his face got clothed in a strange expression. "Why are you standing there in a daze?"
As Baldwin said it, Bob turned his head to look at him. One look and he assumed that it was the fear of ghost. "It's not a ghost." After a quick pause, he said in urgency. "At least...not yet."
Jacob came out of his strange calmness and absentmindedly nodded. He came closer and had a quick glance of the face of the girl whom his father intended to put on the back.
He gave the helping hand to Uncle Bob and they both set the girl on his father's back. "Bob, walk in front. I need to see the path!"
The way to get to the cemetery normally was at the walking distance of five hours.
However, they finished it in half of the time and carefully walked through the small hill of cemetery to get to the road. "Jacob, check her nerves. We still have to cover the distance of two more hours."
Jacob stilled hearing that.
He looked at his father in fear before his eys set up on the stranger on his back. He had intentionally kept himself away from his father. Gulping, he proceeded to check her wrist when he noticed the fingers of her hand already stirring.
He was startled and staggered back in abrupt shock. "Dad, she is moving!"
"What?" Baldwin stopped at the place and hurriedly put down the girl on ground, against the support of the bark of tree to see if she gained consciousness.
Indeed, her eyelashes twitched in a consistent pattern and the lids opened to let them see the most beautiful pair of black eyes.
Those pair of eyes found someone on a close radar but the blurriness prevented them from getting the clarity.
That young woman closed her eyes once, twice and thrice before finalising three unknown men surrounding her. Her unaware gaze instinctively fell on the burning wood held by one of them.
Terrified, she tried to crawl back but the tree behind didn't let her. "Little child, are you okay?"
When the voice hit her ears, the lady's sight again fell on the man holding the burning piece of wood in his hands.
The way it lit up the brutally dark surrounding was scarier than the darkness itself. Her shiver became even more apparent and her lips quivered uncontrollably in fear while a series of unrecognizable pitched sounds left her parted lips.
Uncle Bob followed her stare and with no lag, threw it aside. "I dropped it. We are not here to harm you!"
The voice did nothing to soothe her turbulent self. The coolness of the tree transferred deep in skin through her gown and forced her to be aware of her surroundings. She did not know what was around her or where she was.
Her eyes hurriedly looked here and there. She was scared. The wood lying on the ground burnt furiously and the beads of sweat dripped down her face.
Bob took a small step near, an action which caused her to flinch and jump up at her spot. "Slow down! We are not going to harm you." Baldwin looked at the scared girl and presented the softest voice he could ever utter.
The girl stood with the support of tree. Her legs felt foreign and wobbly to the point that she fell down several times.
Again, an enigmatic sound escaped her lips in fear. Not understanding what to do, she headed away from them. "Where are you going? Let us take you out! The place is dangerous!"
The girl did not stop. Her dangling legs kept on moving with the aim in mind to create a distance between them. Although, she looked injured to the point that she couldn't even walk properly. She had to get away from that light!
"Girl! We'll help you to hospital. Don't run on your own!" Baldwin shouted as he quickly bent down to pick the burning wood. "Bob, quick! Go after her!"
The girl dragged herself as far as she could. Soon, the way of forest opened to the road. Just when she thought she had came away from the strange light, an horrifying sound of screech echoed.
Standing in the middle of the road, she looked to her left and the high intensity of light that fell on her blinded her.
Something was coming at her with an unbeliveable speed.
Mechanically, her arms came up to shield herself.
