Chapter 2 - 1 - Pendant?

Mmm....

I blinked. That familiar ceiling, white and yellow--same as the feeling of waking up.

"kookoorookook!!"

My eyebrows furrowed to the screaming rooster, heard just at the window. Scratching my tummy, I got up.

My life? Well...it's pretty normal.

What can I ask for more when I have a great mom and some shelter to live in. It's....great really...

Yeah.

I walked up to my mom and kissed her cheek, "good morning po."

She turned to me, her pausing with a plate on her hand. We're standing beside the sink. "good morning, annie." my mom nuzzled my forehead in exchange.

I quickly grab the broom on the side of the door and sweeped the floor. Mmm, hairs.

A lot of hair fall.

They were scattered with the dust and other shinanegans that I soon will put in the trash.

I kept on sweeping, helping her clean the house before my dad comes home in like, a week or so?

Yeah thoughts like these run a marathon in my head while doing chores like this. I held the chairs, sweeping of the dust born there just for a day.

Hehe. Die.

Actually I don't know my life seems pretty normal to write a story like this anyway--

I paused, seeing a shiny thing underneath the skimpy cabinet. Crouching, I tried reaching for it to see what it was.

It felt circlish, like a cookie. I held it up and looked at it.

"Ma, do you have a pendant?" i called to my mom in the kitchen.

"what pendant?" she asked and my eyebrows furrowed. I walked to the kitchen and showed her a coin-like thing with a chain.

"no, that's the first time I saw that here."

Oh.

I looked at it once more. "it doesn't look old."

Perhaps, it looks very modern. Like a piece from those robot films you see in the cinemas

Or pirated website for movies.

I smiled and hooked its chain around my neck. Looks cool.

I returned sweeping then the day went on, we finished everything to clean.

...

I wonder what this is. I removed it from my neck and took a picture, sending it to Kim.

Girl, what's that thing?

Oh. She didn't knew either.

My boyfriend gave it to me.

Psh, like you even have one, Annie.

I rolled my eyes at her reply. Hays, can't I rest from the reality that no one wants me? Well, romantically, of course. My phone vibrates.

Just kidding! You know I love you, girl!

I looked at the pendant on my hand again.

What if it's cursed--I suddenly dropped it on the floor and it shattered.

Oh no.

I stood up, quickly grabbing a broom and swept the fragments of it. Blinking, I looked at the broken pieces more.

It doesn't look like it's harmful though. I swept it and put it in the trash. Sighing, what a waste of treasure.

Then, my eyes lit up. An idea came up.

What if he knew what it was??

~0~

"What is this?" I held up my phone with the photo of it.

We're in the coffee shop in the town, just like how we hung up before. I smiled, elementary days.

"Ugh, how am I supposed to know?" Dylan said with an bland tone. I lowered my phone.

I bit my lip. Just as I thought, he wasn't interested.

I sighed, "okay, nevermind. Thanks." I stood up from the chair, walking

A hand grabbed mine.

"Fine let me see." he took my phone and I rolled my eyes. "You know, you're so stubborn. Can't I miss you? Not even one bit?" he paused as I said that and looked at me.

"Is this still about this thing on the photo?" He asked and grinned. "And yes, don't worry I missed you too." Dylan winked and I felt my heart skipped a beat.

No. Don't. Not again.

He glanced at the photo. "Hmm...I guess it's a piece from a car? It looks like from a machine. Maybe your dad left it." I nod.

"Yeah. Maybe..." I gave him a small smile and he nods.

...

So...what now?

I'm standing beside him, now he's all quiet. Should I talk about what he's doing now--

"hey babe!" I turned to the voice coming in our way and Dylan stood up, greeting the woman with open-arms.

She wore a pink dress with an A skirt. Dylan kissed her in the cheek and she turned to me.

Was....it just me or...

Why does it feel like she's showing off that Dylan is hers?

"Oh, you must be?" She asked with a smile that's not even reaching her eyebags.

"Annie." I smiled and she nodded. "I'm Melissa."

"Well, sorry to interrupt but we have to go." She smiled cheekily and clings onto Dylan's arm.

He didn't even look at me.

Even as a good bye.

As time passed, actually I...

Began to hate him.

I sighed, plopping on the bed.

Staring at the yellow ceiling, I began to close my eyes.

My chest began to feel quite heavy.

My mom's away for a business trip. I'm all alone so that someone could guard the house.

Plus, I'm not in the mood for all that happened.

Still--I'm happy for her that she gets to explore somehow.

I like you, Dylan!~

Hehe, maybe if we meet again, I'll like you, Annie.

He said on that same damn place.

"Arghh!!" I kicked my feet. Kept on kicking the pillows until they were thrown on the floor.

Then I chuckled.

Man, I look insane.

Sitting up, opening up my phone again.

"Screw you, Dylan." I said under my breath as I scrolled through my phone. There, I found myself searching in Google.

Well, I can't think of anyone to talk to about it though.

I don't wanna be burden to my mom, she had a lot of problems carrying on her shoulders.

Kim would just probably nag me about me meeting Dylan the great--the greatest "Just Words" man I've ever met!

And....

I paused.

Woah, I don't have other friends.

I sighed, finding myself writing on my phone.

"Hey."

"Hey, what are you up to today?"

I smiled. Feeling a calm sensation in my chest. Like I've been heard.

"Well, kinda had a bad....well...neutral day...I guess." I typed, as if the feeling of serenity lingers from my skin.

A caressed on my shoulder can be felt.

"Don't worry, I'll be here. Always." His deep and calm voice lingered.

I smiled, aside from my mother, I haven't got that comfort in a while. As if I've been cradled from all the uneasiness of today.

Tears swell up on my eyes, leaving them rolling down on my cheeks.

I closed my eyes, feeling a small pat and arms that wrapped around my waist and my shoulder.

Everything started to drift off.

I felt someone whispered on my ear. My palms rest on his chest, feeling a circular coin-like thing again.

"I'm here."

...

I felt a hand brush my hair behind my ear. "Mmm.." I let out a small scoff, not wanting to wake up yet.

Then I felt a breath tingling near my ear ince again.

"Good morning.." A deep and calm voice echoed soothingly which made me smile.

"Good mor---"

Wait. A man?

How can a man possibly be here in my bed?!

"AHHHHH!!!!!" I screamed, quickly squirming off his muscular arms--oh my gosh!

"W-wait, relax. Let me---" I bit his arm, making him shout and let go.

I ran away from the room. Then I realized.

My phone!

Oh wait nevermind, I have neighbors.

I quickly ran towards the door, reaching for it but--

He grabbed my wrist, made me turn to face him in fear. With that, my legs trembled--

"H-hey, wait calm down a bit..."

"How am I supposed to fricking calm down!?" I paused.

My eyes ran up to his face. Dark eyebrows, calm but worried eyes. His dark brown hues make it seemingly inviting. His angular jaw down to his--

I blinked twice and saw a familiar pendant on his neck.

It's the pendant I accidentally swept and broke!
