Nina tried to run away, but without using any of her hunter powers, she could feel the others catching up quickly.
Even worse—some of them managed to overtake her at times. Her Patron's voice rang in her mind with a warning:
[They're circling ahead. Two on your left. One behind the mailbox.]
Nina cursed under her breath and adjusted her pace, only to suddenly leap over a pair of people who unknowingly blocked her path. It was instinct—something she couldn't stop. She realized it immediately.
"That wasn't normal."
She muttered.
[No, it wasn't. Try not to look like you were trained by assassins, will you?]
Thankfully, the bystanders were too startled and confused to register what just happened. No one followed her.
Still, Nina's panic only increased. She could already tell she wouldn't be able to outrun them forever. She needed to think of something else.
