Chapter 8 - First guests

Every great accomplishment rests on the foundation of what comes before it

I felt proud of myself because not only did I manage to summon 8 Death Knights, but I even managed to defeat all of them

Although the Death Knights were merely level 35, for someone who was an ordinary human not long ago this can be considered a great achievement

"Create middle-tier undead - Summon Death Knight!"

Since there should be a limit as to how many Death Knights I could summon in a day, I decided to summon all the Death Knights I could

After summoning 4 more Death Knights, amounting to a total of 12 Death Knights including the 8 I summoned earlier, I have reached my limit

"Please draw some circles on the ground my Death Knights"

The Deaths Knight started carving circles on the ground a few feet from each other using their blades

I watched intently as the Death Knight moved with unwavering discipline while obeying my command without question or hesitation

Despite the darkness that shrouded them, I felt a sense of comfort knowing that these formidable entities would serve me faithfully

The bond between us was unspoken, rooted in a shared understanding that the Death Knight's obedience was absolute, a testament to the Death Knight's unwavering devotion to me their summoner

After finishing a circle with the same diameter as a balance ball, the Death Knight stood in place, looking at me, awaiting my next command

"Death Knights! Clang your blades against your shield, and let the sound resonate!"

The Death Knight did exactly that as they raised their blades high and brought it crashing down against their shield

The clang reverberated like thunder

*Clang!*

*Clang!*

*Clang!*

"Say this is Sparta!"

"Gwaarrlll!" "Gwaarrlll!"

"Holy Shit! Hahaha!"

After having fun with the Death Knights, I ordered them to move to the sides, then I shifted my focus to the 4 circles on the ground

"Storage"

After placing my hand inside it, I look for a staff that I know of, specifically The Blasting Staff since this world is full of Ninjas who are skilled in hand-to-hand combat

Although the Staff have a peculiar look that resembles a 3 feet long hammer, its effect is extremely beneficial for a magic user like me

It has a knockback effect that would trigger if I were to land a blow on the opponent's body, effectively creating a distance between myself and the attacker

With the Blasting Staff in my hand, I focused on the four circles with the same diameter as a balance ball placed a few feet from each other

I tried to remember all the skills I was supposed to have and which of those skills was best to use against the ninjas in this world which excels in speed, the weakness of a magic caster like myself

The more powerful the skill is, the longer the casting time it will need

However, some skills could be cast without delay but the cost of it is using quite a lot of Mana

After much deliberation with myself, I decided to focus first on a skill that is overpowered but will not make a huge commotion upon using

A skill that I will only use against powerful ninjas who are faster and more skilled in fighting than me

A skill that could suddenly appear without warning and suck my foe into the abyss

"Black Hole"

As I pointed my blasting staff towards the direction of one of the circles, a black orb appeared at the centre of it

With a gravitational pull so strong that it started pulling all the dirt, rocks, and even the air surrounding it towards itself

My clothes flutter and the tombstone shook because of its sucking force, while the Black Hole pulsated, creating a mesmerizing yet terrifying scene as it absorbed everything within its immediate surrounding

I look at the Black Hole in awe as I feel a profound connection with it the same feeling I felt towards the Death Knight

After absorbing all the things a couple of feet all around it, the Black hole seemed to calm down, It was as if time stood still as it simply elevated in the middle of the hole on the ground in created

I tried moving the Black hole towards the other circle but to no avail as it seems to be stuck on the specific area where I initially cast it

The price I needed to pay for keeping it activated was not a small one. I cast it with my Mana still at 80% but after a few seconds of keeping it activated, my Mana has now become 70%

As I kept the Black Hole activated, I noticed that my Mana stopped regenerating, It seems that my Mana will not regenerate if I am actively using a skill

After calculating how often I could summon the black hole with full Mana, I realised that I could only summon it for about 12x while in the middle of a fight since summoning it consumes 8% Mana

As for keeping it activated, I have about 92 seconds since it consumed 1% Mana every 1 second

Although it may seem like it's too costly, it is worth it, as I only need to cast one of these spells towards the direction of my foe and that person will be immediately sucked into it, leaving no traces

"Storage"

I put my hand inside my storage to check on the potions I have inside it, specifically the MP and HP potions

HP potions help me regenerate my HP or heal wounds instantaneously upon drinking even if it's a life-threatening one and MP potions help me regenerate my Mana or the cost of casting a skill upon drinking

A smile crept to my face as I read the amount of the potions I have because it says "HP potion 99,999. MP potion 99,999"

As a gamer myself, every game has a different max number of potions one could carry, it seems like in the original world of Overlord, the max potion they could carry is 99,999

I grabbed one of the MP potions and brought it out from my storage

The potion is light blue in colour and seems to have glitter mixed on it. As I drink it, it reminds me of a bubble gum-flavoured soda I drank before

Upon drinking the entire bottle, my Mana which was 70% returned back to 100%

After knowing the Mana consumptions of the Black Hole, I smirked at my Death Knights standing on the side as I asked them

"Do you two know how to play dodgeball?"

But when I was about to order the Death Knight to serve as my practice dummies once again

Something caught my attention something unexpected, well something I expected but wished wouldn't happen anytime soon happened

What's coming will come, and I'll just have to meet with it when it does

At the same time, Albedo telepathically messaged me "Lord Renz-sama, Please return to the Throne Room, they are humans close to the portal"

What Albedo is referring to are the Humans I am looking at, they are seemingly investigating the stone faces particularly the one directly below where the portal that connects this place and the world outside

The Ninjas in this world are usually grouped together in small teams of 3 from a young age then a higher-ranking ninja will join them and serve as it's the leader

Then the higher ranking ninjas will be their teachers during their missions until they manage to be promoted to a higher ranking one themselves then the cycle will continue

"It appears that Team 8 will be my first guests. Kurenai, Hinata, Shino, Kiba and Akamaru"

-

I decided to return to the Throne room

As I watched the group of 4 ninjas and a dog enter the portal using the Mirror of Remote Viewing, I saw their eyes widen in surprise as soon as they reached the cemetery

They are all seemingly talking to each other while touching the barrier that separates Nazarick and the world outside with awe etched on their faces

Not long after, the ninjas started to separate from each other

While 3 ninjas started walking around the cemetery, the oldest one, Kurenai, walked directly towards where I cast the Black Hole earlier, inspecting it meticulously

I started to wonder if my fight with the Death Knights and using the Black Hole earlier might have been the reason why this ninja found the location of the portal

Since they are skilled sensory ninjas, or ninjas that possess heightened perceptual abilities

Which allows them to detect and analyse their surroundings more effectively, including enemy movements, chakra signatures, and environmental changes

"Lord Renz-sama, should I take care of those pests?" Albedo asked as she looked at the group of ninjas with disdain

I didn't respond to her question as I'm still deliberating the course of action we should do

Instead, I raised my hand up and signalled Albedo to come close to me, to which she responded by beaming with joy as she leaned her body to mine

All the while, Kurenai, jumped into the hole the Black Hole created and crouched down
