Bug? Since when did SHIELD start doing this?

He picked up one of the tiny devices and examined it closely.

Could it be that Natasha was pretending all along?

This little bug was gone, and yet no one seemed to worry.

Crushing the bug casually, John glanced at the sky, which had started to brighten and then darken again.

"The day passed like this."

He neither felt sleepy nor overly energetic.

Sweeping the smashed bug into the trash can, John pondered what to do next.

To be honest, drinking tea for half a month felt a bit too ordinary.

"Forget it, let's go find Matt."

There was still one person in Hell's Kitchen who hadn't been dealt with, so John decided to see how to get rid of him first.

His driver was on holiday, so John had to go alone.

Hell's Kitchen during the day was not so dangerous that no one dared to go there.

After getting into a taxi, John noticed the same car following him again.

"These people really are haunted."

The taxi stopped in Hell's Kitchen.

John closed the door but did not immediately walk to Matt's law office. Instead, he approached the parked car behind and knocked on the window.

The window rolled down, revealing Ray's embarrassed face.

"If you really have nothing to do, why not go find Fisk?"

John smiled. "That's the news I'm giving you."

"Fisk?" Ray was stunned, watching John turn and walk into Nelson Murdoch Law Firm.

Ray hesitated, suddenly aware of the importance of the person he was talking about.

Next to him, Dex's face was dark, his eyes constantly wrestling between madness and reason.

John did not mind the FBI following him, just as his father had been followed before. He was used to it.

***********

Today's law firm seemed to have a mission.

As soon as John entered, he bumped into two people who were about to leave.

"Hey, Matt, Fudge, my lawyer friends," John said with a grin. "Do you know I'm bored? Are you going to take me to find something exciting?"

Fudge looked confused. "We didn't…"

"Okay, it's decided then." John placed his hand on Fudge's shoulder. "You can drive, right?"

Matt was helpless. He had listened carefully to John's heartbeat but still could not hear anything.

This was strange. The people in the car could not hear the heartbeat like last time, but it was a little different from John's.

Those people seemed to be doing this on purpose, but John appeared to be born this way.

The three of them walked out of the office. John glanced at the FBI car. Ray had gone inside, leaving only Dex.

Matt noticed Dex and said, "Is that the agent from last time?"

"Yes, they are afraid of me dying," John smiled. "Actually, I am quite afraid of death too."

They got into Fudge's car and set off.

"Aren't you going to have tea?"

"That would be too boring to drink all the time."

John sat in the back seat, chatting with Matt. "Where's that guy? Have you checked?"

"Wilson Fisk. He is a businessman. That's all the information I could find."

"You should start with something else."

The two figures spoke in riddles, discussing things Fudge could not understand, which made him a little distracted while driving.

After nearly colliding with an oncoming car, Fudge dared not lose focus.

"Where are you going?"

"There's a poor girl waiting for justice," Fudge said. "We're going to the police station."

"Fudge, you talk to him too much," Matt reminded.

Fudge came to his senses and almost thought John was his law firm partner.

The car stopped at the police station, and they prepared to go inside.

John entered with dignity.

Just as Fudge had said, the poor girl looked fragile and timid.

John did not know why he described her that way, but Fudge had said so.

After some questioning, they finally understood what the woman named Peggy had done.

She was the only suspect at a murder scene and was caught red-handed.

She was an employee of United Construction Company and was suspected of killing Daniel Fischer, a colleague.

"United Construction Company?"

John narrowed his eyes at the name.

What a coincidence! The bastard he was looking for was someone from United Company.

The girl cried and told the lawyers she was innocent.

John looked into her eyes and was sure she was telling the truth.

Matt also detected this through her heartbeat.

So he chose to believe this seemingly innocent woman.

However, she remained the primary suspect and could not be released on bail.

After the routine questioning, Matt and Fudge prepared to leave.

"Please, just trust me," Peggy pleaded once again, convincing everyone.

John walked out of the police station, and Fudge went to establish a good relationship with the police.

John happened to meet an acquaintance.

"Agent Dex, don't tell me you're going to protect me at the police station."

John saw the man appear and noticed the struggle between madness and reason in his eyes growing more frantic.

"I want to talk to you," Dex said after much hesitation. "I will wait for you at the place you often go to in the evening."

"Seems like today is not the only time you're spying on me," John shrugged. "Interesting. I can agree to that."

Dex nodded uneasily and left.

Matt frowned and warned John, "That person is not simple."

"You can see it," John said with a smile. "That's why I want to see what game he's going to play with me."

"You know, John," Matt said, turning so his sunglasses met John's eyes, "you always seem to be talking about games."

"I always have some entertainment during my holidays," John replied, stopping his smile. "That would be fun."

"I can't see you more and more clearly," Matt said and left after hearing Fudge's summons.

John walked over.

"Can't see clearly?"

He murmured to himself.

Back at the law firm.

John listened to the two lawyers analyze the case, which he found quite boring.

Mostly, they debated whether Peggy was truly guilty.

Matt believed Peggy might be innocent, while Fudge considered reducing the charge from second-degree murder to manslaughter to limit her sentence to five or ten years.

Their discussion grew heated, and John drank his coffee with relish.

"She may not have killed anyone, Matt," Fudge said thoughtfully. "But Miss Peggy may not have lied."

This insight also awakened Matt. Yes, he had only heard that the other party did not kill anyone, but that did not mean her testimony was without concealment.

Both sides had found a blind spot.

John raised his hand.

"What is it, Mr. Wick?" Fudge asked, still respectful.

John reminded them, "Do you think that since one person has been killed, the person behind the scenes will not kill another?"

Fudge was stunned. "What do you mean?"

John opened his pocket watch and glanced at it. "Nothing. I just have to tell you that my time is up."

"Matt, if you have any news, you can call me," John chuckled. "After all, you are my lawyer. I don't mind giving you a little help."

Matt asked, "Do you need someone to drop you off?"

"No, no need." John put on his coat. "I'd rather someone do something to me."

He stood and left.

Fudge was left speculating about what John had just said.

Walking out of the law office, John waved his magic wand and appeared at the yellow sign.

He stepped inside, where a man with thin cheeks was already waiting.

Agent Dex.
