Then Cap stepped forwards, which caused us to mirror his actions. His steps became a walk, then a jog, until he broke into a run leading the charge.
"They're not stopping!" Spider Man exclaimed with a little panic.
I chuckled aloud, "You have a keen eye for the obvious man."
"Thanks?"
"That's not a compliment, and we're not stopping either." Tony said solemnly.
Nat clicked her tongue as she broke into a jog. "This isn't gonna end well…"
Both sides charged as I dashed away from the ensuing chaos.
Fuck that.
Just as the groups clashed, I reached out and Force pulled Bucky towards me. The Winter Solider didn't even gasp as he was suddenly yanked through the air.
I tossed him across the tarmac, grinning as he flipped and sank his metal arm into the ground, rending a deep gash to arrest his momentum.
"Who the hell are you?" He asked with narrowed eyes.
"Just looking for a good fight." I said with a shrug.
Bucky gritted his teeth and launched at me. I sank into the Force, letting it guide my movements, weaving around his metal fist before leaning back to avoid a backhand. Bucky twisted into a right hook, making me deflect the blow.
I grunted as I felt the sheer strength behind his blows. Even with a Force Enhanced body I felt my bones creak.
I sent an oblique kick at his inner knee only for him to back step and spin into a round-house kick.
I dropped into a spin kick trying to sweep him off his feet as his leg whistled over me. Bucky used his round-house momentum to leap into a barrel-roll before sending a switch kick down at me.
I snapped backwards with a Force dash, the ground at my previous spot cracking under the force of his down-smash. I blurred forwards again and caught him by surprise, sinking my fist into his jaw.
Bucky stumbled backwards a step, quickly recovering his composure.
Like a bullet he dashed towards me, unloading a street fighter-esque combo at me. The Force hummed as I dodged with precognitive speed, I bobbed under his punches, weaved around between his hooks and side-stepped his kicks.
I started grinning as I felt him push the limits of my precognition.
His metal arm suddenly exploded towards my face faster than I could dodge. My hand snaked forwards and I caught his punch with a Force grab, but from his angle it looked like I grabbed it with my bare-hands.
Bucky's eyes widened as he cursed under breath.
"Again?!"
With a forceful twist of my hand I snapped him into the ground then splayed my fingers out, palm down and began trying to squash him with the Force.
Bucky grunted, his knees shaking as an unseen pressure tried to squish him into the ground.
I clawed my other hand by my side, coalescing a tangible ball of Force in my palm. Just as I was about to blast Bucky into the earth something grabbed my hand.
I looked over in surprise to see a glowing shimmer of scarlet envelop my Force Push. My eyes flicked past the chaos magic and I saw Wanda gritting her teeth as she wrestled control from me.
I grunted, my muscles straining as I resisted her telekinetic pull until she lashed her hands out to the side, launching me into the air as my Force Push cratered into the ground just missing Bucky.
I flew for a good six seconds before flipping and channeling the Force to cushion my landing. I looked back up to see Bucky sprint off with Wanda.
There goes my hero….
I looked over at the main battle just in time to see Ant Man go Big Man, catching Rhodey by the foot and slamming him into the ground while Iron Man tried unloading his armaments at the red giant. Unfortunately for him, Falcon was hot on his tail, causing him to take evasive maneuvers.
The Force suddenly screamed at me.
My eyes widened as I instinctively leaned my head. A rush of wind whistled passed me, an arrowhead just barely missing my skull.
I turned and saw Clint smiling at me just a couple steps away. The archer smiled, snapping his bow into a staff.
"I don't think we've met yet, I'm Clint."
I gave him a curt wave. "Sup, I'm classified."
Clint scoffed and spun his staff and swinging towards me.
I side-stepped the attack, easily dodging before raising a hand and flicking a finger towards the archer.
A thin wave of vertical Force slapped Clint in the face, sending him stumbling back.
"What the hell?" He cursed.
I smirked, slowly striding towards the man.
Clint's eyes narrowed and he shot towards me again. His staff whistled through the air as he expertly swung at me.
I leaned, lifted my foot, side-stepped and weaved swing after swing until suddenly lashing out at his staff and grabbing it with the Force.
Clints eyes widened as he felt his weapon rip from his hands and land in mine.
"That's mine."
I chuckled, throwing it back to him. "I'm more of a sword guy anyways."
He caught the weapon, giving me a confused look. "Are we done fighting or...?"
I shrugged, "I'm with Nat, and she'll probably chew me out if I hurt you too bad… anyways I think we're coming to a close here. I'll see you around Clint." I said before launching towards Hanger 5 in a blur.
Clint watched me leave, a little offended. "Yeah… nice meeting you too, classified."
I sliced across the battlefield, taking in the wanton destruction. I saw Ant Man snapping off plane wings and kicking buses around like they were play toys. Wanda levitated cars at Tony with the accuracy of a blind dart thrower, missing by miles and devastating even more airlines.
War Machine began unloading a small armored battalions' worth of lead at a bus Ant Man launched at him, instead of just dodging.
I sighed, realizing that there was some truth to the whole Sokovia Accords stuff, the sheer devastation was hard to ignore — and hulk & Thor weren't even part of the battle.
I arrived into the hanger just in time to witness the dumbest fucking move so far. Vision phased through Ant Man and then unleashed a blinding ray of energy that screamed towards the Air Traffic Control tower. The energy sliced through its foundation, destabilizing the tower and causing to crash down towards the hanger's entrance.
…wha? Why the fuck didn't he just laser beam the Quinjet? What the hell did the ATC tower do?
I had a disgusted look on my face at the sheer ineptitude in display.
I mean, technically the guy is like, what 2-3 years old? But still… it's just ironic that the people trying to control the damage are the ones actively causing it.
A massive wave of chaos energy pulsed, enveloping the ATC tower and stopping it just in time for Cap and Bucky to slide inside, before a thunderous wave of debris exploded behind them.
While I was distracted by Vision's sheer stupidity, Nat appeared from behind me.
Cap and Bucky slowed as they saw me and Nat. She gave me a sideways glance, before tuning and raising her wrist mounted dart launcher at Cap.
T'Challa isn't here, so nobody's chasing Cap… I guess she still wants to do the whole -- Surprise, I'm a double agent!
"You're not gonna stop…" Nat said solemnly.
Caps eyes narrowed. His shield shifting in his hand. "You know I can't."
Nat grimaced, and for a moment I thought she was actually gonna shoot him.
Then she smirked, lowering her hand. "Don't make me regret this."
Cap and Bucky let out a sigh of relief and ran past us. As they loaded into and began powering up the stealth jet, Nat turned to me.
"Can I trust you?" She asked, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.
I turned to her with a serious look in my eyes. "I could never betray a pretty lady."
Nat rolled her eyes, then smiled mischievously, "I'll keep that in mind…"
I shook my head, already regretting my words. "Please don't." I pleaded, and I swear the force whispered — Natasha will remember that.
The two of us watched the Quinjet lift into the air, Cap gave us a thankful nod then he gunned it. The air around us screamed as the jet flew off into the distance.
"Guess that's that?" I muttered, yet I couldn't help but shake the feeling that I was forgetting something.
Nat noticed my shifting expression. "What's wrong?" She asked, but I waved her away.
What the hell is going on? I thought as the Force quivered around me.
What am I forgetting…
My heart began pounding in my chest as a distressing sensation fluttered across my chest. My eyes suddenly snapped open.
RHODEY!
Before Nat could react I turned into a blur, leaping over the fallen ATC tower in a single Force fueled jump. I landed outside just in time to see Vision holding Wanda in his arms, completely enamored with the Chaos witch. His head twitched, then he turned, eyes narrowing towards the sky.
From his forehead a beam of yellow energy sliced across the sky gunning for the Falcon.
Shit!
I dashed past them even before the beam hit, Wanda's eyes widening as I bolted by her in a blur of wind.
My teeth clenched as I channeled the full weight of the Force moving me faster than I ever had. Glanced up and watched in horror as the Falcon dodged and the beam of energy carved through War Machines Arc Reactor.
Tony's reaction was nearly instantaneous, as he turned and began chasing Rhodey as he fell.
I'm not going to make it with just Force dashes… I sighed, leaping into the air as high as possible. My eyes narrowed as I tracked Rhodey's descent, estimating his impact spot.
With a swipe of my hands I opened a space door, stepping through and appearing in the grass field I had been looking at.
I looked up and clawed my hands out, reaching through the Force, spreading my will further than I ever had.
The Force quivered as it wrapped around Rhodey, the full weight of the man and his suit slammed into my hands, making me feel like I was trying to catch a meteor.
"GRAA!" I growled, wrapping the Force around War Machine.
Rhodey began to slow, but even then the momentum of his fall didn't fully relent.
*BOOM!
He smacked into the ground, a cloud of dirt exploding from his impact site.
I grimaced, dashing over to him just as Iron Man landed beside me. Tony's helmet retracted away to reveal the panic in his eyes, with a wrench he pulled off War Machine's mask.
"Read Vitals…"
…
"Heartbeat detected, emergency services are en-route." FRIDAY chimed.
I walked over and casted a scanning spell with a wave of my hand. Tony's eyes widened as he saw a force-like shimmering mandala appear. The sound of a repulsor charging filled the tense silence.
"Relax Stark," I quickly explained, "I'm checking his vitals."
I let out a sigh of relief as the magic pulsed back to me.
"Broken leg, broken arm and probably a pretty bad headache in the morning, but otherwise he's fine." I then casted another spell that should help his recovery time.
Tony let out an exasperated breath, a wave of relief washing over him just as Falcon touched down.
Wilson looked down at Rhodey with a guilt ridden face.
"I'm sorry…" He said.
Before I could explain that he wasn't dead or paralyzed a repulsor beam slammed into him, sending him flying back and out like a light.
I turned to Tony with a look of disbelief.
"Dude…"
Tony shrugged, "He almost got my best friend killed."
I sighed, waving my hands in the air dismissively. "Yeah yeah, love does crazy things to a man."
Tony chuckled a little, then his voice dropped as he looked down at Rhodey.
"Thank you, seriously I mean it… I—I don't know what I would've done if Rhodey—"
"--Don't worry man," I interrupted, not wanting to see the man cry.. "It didn't happen. A couple months and he'll be right as rain."
Tony smiled then turned to me. "Regardless, I owe you big time — and I don't even know your name. Tony Stark, nice to meet you…?"
I grinned at the man. "Likewise Anthony, I'm classified."
