Chapter 18 - Apprentice of Yao Chen

Space rippled slightly. Above the ancient city that had stood unchanging outside the Xiao Realm for a thousand years, a black-robed youth stepped out from the black vortex, followed closely by two elderly men.

"Phew!"Xiao Yan took a deep breath, taking in this world completely different from the Xiao Realm.

This was a truly complete world — the Dou Qi Continent!

This was a realm that belonged solely to Dou Qi. There were no flashy, glamorous magic arts, only Dou Qi, evolved to its absolute peak!

In the ancient city, people bustled to and fro. As the main hub connecting the Xiao Clan with the outside world, Xuan Emperor City was extraordinarily prosperous. On the bustling market streets, one could spot powerhouses from other ancient clans, as well as many important figures from various major factions engaging in trade.

Still, no matter how flourishing this place was, it couldn't stir Xiao Yan's heart. His gaze turned toward the distance, and he asked the two elders beside him, "Do you two know the location of Starfall Pavilion?"

"Starfall Pavilion?"The two Half-Saints exchanged a look and smiled:"The name 'Starfall Pavilion' is quite well-known in Central State. After all, it's the leader among the Four Great Pavilions."

"Besides, the Pavilion Master of Starfall not only possesses peak Dou Venerable cultivation, but is also rumored to be the number one alchemist on the continent."

"One could say, if no one among the Nine-Tier alchemists appears, no one can suppress him."

"But the two of us have never been there ourselves."

"Then what should we do?"Xiao Yan frowned slightly. Half-Saints could open spatial paths and leap across vast distances, but only if they knew the destination.

"Young Master, don't worry. Although the location of Starfall Pavilion is secretive, Xuan Emperor City is full of experts. We can find out with a bit of investigation,"said Elder Wen with a smile.

Xiao Yan nodded slightly, and shortly after, once the three had obtained the information, they directly tore open space and stepped inside.

"Holy crap! Who was that kid?"

"His guardians actually tore space directly — that's at least Dou Venerable level!"

"Could be a Holy Son from some ancient clan... Maybe even someone from the Xiao Clan!"

Those who could enter Xuan Emperor City were not weak — either powerful themselves or backed by immense forces. But a young man strong enough to have Dou Venerables as guards? That was a rarity.

And if they had known the two men beside Xiao Yan were actually Half-Saints, their minds might have exploded on the spot.

Starfall Pavilion was located in the Heavenly Star Mountain Range and had some unique characteristics. Without special means of entry, even a Dou Venerable would be unable to pass through its barriers.

Among the Four Great Pavilions of Central State, Starfall Pavilion was the most low-key, yet few dared provoke it — because it had a renowned alchemist, Yao Zun Zhe, also known as Yao Chen!

This alchemist was not only a peak Dou Venerable, but his alchemy skills were nearly unmatched. He was well on his way to becoming the continent's top alchemist.

"Crack!"The tranquil space of the Heavenly Star Mountain Range was torn apart. Elder Wen and Elder Wu stepped out, bringing Xiao Yan with them.

"So this is Starfall Pavilion?"Xiao Yan gazed over the forested mountains.

"I, Xiao Yan of the Xiao Clan, have come to visit Yao Zun Zhe. I respectfully request a meeting,"Xiao Yan activated his Dou Qi, his voice echoing through the mountains.

A moment later, the space rippled, and a young man emerged.

The youth was handsome, wearing a brocade robe embroidered with a pill cauldron, marked by seven crescent-like waves — a clear symbol of a Tier 7 Alchemist.

"I am Han Feng, direct disciple of Yao Zun Zhe. May I ask why a prodigy of the Xiao Clan seeks my master?"The youth was still somewhat polite.

After all, the Xiao Clan was the strongest on the continent, and if one of its members came to visit Starfall Pavilion, they were obliged to receive them.

As for Xiao Yan's status as the Emperor's Son, that was not public knowledge on the Dou Qi Continent.

"You're that villain, aren't you?"Xiao Yan's brows twitched. According to the plot, Han Feng was definitely not a good guy.

"You're not qualified to speak to me. Get your master. I have important matters to discuss."

Xiao Yan sneered. He'd been causing trouble since childhood, and hearing Han Feng's name made him want to start some drama.

Han Feng's expression froze, then turned icy:"Though you are of the Xiao Clan, such rudeness in my Starfall Pavilion is still unacceptable.""If not for your clan's reputation, how could a mere Dou Huang be worth our time?"

"How dare you bark here! You speak like that to our young master?!"Xiao Wu, beside Xiao Yan, snorted. The sound made space tremble.

Elder Wen was scholarly and wise. Elder Wu was brash and battle-hardened.

"Pfft!"Han Feng was instantly injured by the overwhelming pressure, coughing up blood, his face pale.

Xiao Wu didn't even blink — his Half-Saint strength was now fully exposed.

"Yao Zun Zhe! Our clan's prodigy has come in person. Why haven't you shown yourself? Does our Xiao Clan's prodigy not even deserve an audience with a Dou Venerable like you?"

His voice was laced with profound Dou Qi, and with a single shout, he broke part of the Starfall Formation, revealing the Star Realm within.

Half-Saint level power — terrifying indeed!

Even though Half-Saints in the Xiao Clan held some clout, they normally kept a low profile. But having finally left the clan, Xiao Wu couldn't resist showing off.

With a portion of the Starfall Formation broken, two figures finally flew out.

They were two elderly men, clearly not young, but still radiating energy and vitality.

They were the leaders of Starfall Pavilion — Yao Zun Zhe Yao Chen and Feng Zun Zhe Feng Xian.

"Two saints of the Xiao Clan, if you came to visit, why harm my disciple?"Yao Chen stepped forward, eyes solemn as he stared at Xiao Wen and Xiao Wu.

With his peak Dou Venerable strength, he could naturally see their cultivation.

Half-Saints were already on the brink of standing among the very peak of the Dou Qi Continent.

But what surprised him even more was the black-robed youth behind them.

That boy looked only fifteen or sixteen, but was already at the peak of Dou Huang. And yet, two Half-Saints followed him around like bodyguards.

That meant the youth's status in the Xiao Clan must be unimaginably high.

"Enough with the crap. My young master wants to meet you, and you dawdle like this? Are you looking down on the Xiao Clan?"Xiao Wu sneered.

"Uncle Wu, be more respectful to Mister Yao,"Xiao Yan stepped in, blocking the irate Xiao Wu, then bowed respectfully to Yao Chen:"Elder Yao, I am Xiao Yan. I've long admired your name and have come specifically to become your apprentice in alchemy."

"You wish to become my apprentice?"Yao Chen was slightly stunned, then shook his head:"Talented one of the Xiao Clan, your clan has Dou Saints like clouds and Dou Venerables like rain. Other than my alchemy, there's little I could teach you."

"Elder Yao's alchemy is divine and unparalleled. To learn even a bit from you would be my greatest honor,"Xiao Yan smiled.

"Heh, my alchemy is decent, but the Dou Qi Continent is vast. With your background, wouldn't it be easy to find a Tier Nine Alchemist to teach you?"

Yao Chen glanced at the two Half-Saints behind Xiao Yan.

He had barely touched the ceiling of the continent, but he had never seen a young master protected by two Half-Saints.

"Maybe... But there's one thing you have that no other alchemist can teach me,"Xiao Yan looked straight at Yao Chen, smiling word by word:"And that is — the Flame Mantra (Fen Jue)!"

Hearing this, Yao Chen's calm expression immediately changed,
