Chapter 1 - End

"I guess this is it." Adam muttered under his breath, the cold night air showing the vapor of the ragid breaths Adam took.

"I guess this is where I kill myself." Adam leaned forward against the guard rail of the bridge his eyes looking down at the frozen river below that reflected every star above.

"It's a beautiful night, but I don't have it in me anymore" Adam talked as if he was losing his mind, his hands gripped the rail sending shivers down his body, his hands cold and trembling.

Adam hoped onto the rail his hands still firmly in place but now his legs were dangling off swaying with each passing breeze.

He lifted his gaze to the night sky taking in the view for one last time.

"I got this." Hajime muttered his eyes looking back down at the frozen river below

Looking at the river he could slightly make out his reflection below his small figure dangling from the bridge his eye's darkened as if troubled memories flooded his mind again. Adam could see himself as if he was staring into a mirror that reflected his life as he stared at himself dangling, he saw his long black hair knotted, dirty, his big Glaces and his ugly face that would disgust anyone. Memories from the past flooded his mind, recalling his rejection, getting fired from his dream job, and then after all his suffering losing his only friend to cancer.

Each memory created a tear that freely trickled down his cheek just to end up freezing halfway down his cheek.

Adam could feel the tear freeze to his cheek and feeling the cue he pushed off. He ungripped the railing and closed his eyes, Adam began to plumet. His body twisted like a ragdoll in the air as the cold wind pressed against his body moving it around, and in the time span of a second

"THUD....CRACK"

Adam's body hit the frozen river beneath him.The impact killed him on the spot, shattering the ice and causing his body to slowly plummet into the water, leaving no chance of survival.

Is it over? Am I finally dead? Adam thought, his mind somehow still awake. When his body hit the ice, he had died instantly, feeling only extreme pain for less than a second before everything ended. But something strange happened—he found himself in a dark, empty space devoid of any physical feeling, left only to his thoughts.

"Is this hell?" Adam wondered, as all he could see was darkness surrounding him.

Adam was embraced by the darkness for what felt like an eternity before a strange light came into view.

"What is that?" Adam asked, but no words came out.

He couldn't help but watch as the light grew bigger and bigger, its rays slowly pushing back the darkness.

"What's happening? What's going on?" Adam tried to shout, but each time he was met with silence.

The light came closer and closer, and before he knew it, he had been engulfed by it, the light completely replacing the darkness.

What's happening? What is that light? Adam thought—until suddenly, the light disappeared in less than a second.

The light that had swallowed everything was now gone, and the darkness returned, once again covering everything, which scared Adam even more.

"What the fuck is going on? What is happening? There's darkness, then light, then darkness again—the fuck, man. I just wanted to die in peace."

Embraced by the darkness, Adam didn't notice at first, but he slowly began to regain his senses: sight, touch, and feeling—though only gradually.

The first sense to return was touch. Adam felt a ticklish sensation pass over his body occasionally. After a while, he could identify it: wind.

"It feels like a cold breeze is passing over my body. Is there wind in hell?" Adam thought, feeling the unusual breeze, but there was something else. Underneath him, something not quite soft, but not hard either, poked at the backside of his body.

"What is under me? It feels kind of like grass." The poky but soft texture was familiar—even though he wasn't 100% sure, he was still convinced he was lying on grass.

Soon after regaining touch, his vision followed. Like his sense of touch, he didn't notice it at first, but his eyesight gradually returned.

After a little patience, Adam was able to see light—though faint. It was the sky. Adam was lying on his back, now looking at the night sky again, but there was something different. The stars looked the same, but this time, there were two shining orbs in the sky.

Adam stared at the two white orbs, studying them—until it hit him.

"There's two moons!" Adam was more confused than ever.

"Why are there two moons in the sky? There should be only one! Only ONE!"

One moon was closer and looked bigger; the other was farther away and partially blocked by the closer moon, but still visible.

"First I die, then I see light, and now I'm lying on grass looking at two moons—what is happening!"

Adam didn't realize it, but he was now able to move his head again.

"Wait, now I can move my head—that's good," Adam said inwardly, moving his head left and right to get a better look at his surroundings. First, he looked left and saw trees—massive ones.

"Are those trees? Am I in a forest?"

Adam looked right and saw the same—more trees.

The trees were enormous and looked like pine trees, some of the branches holding oval-shaped objects dangling at their edges. Looking around more, he realized he was surrounded by trees on all sides, confirming his suspicion.

"I'm stuck in a fucking forest. Why couldn't I just be left to die?" Adam groaned, looking at the towering trees in front of him.

Slowly, Adam regained full control over his body, and he took full advantage of it. Lifting himself off the ground, he looked at the place he'd laid paralyzed just minutes ago and smirked.

"Grass. I knew it! At least one thing went right for me."

After confirming he'd been lying on grass, he lifted his head and looked at the trees in front of him.

I need to find a way out of this place and figure out where the fuck I am, because I don't think this is Earth anymore.

Looking around, Adam noticed a small but faint light glowing from between the branches of multiple trees in front of him.

"Guess I should head toward the light."
