Chapter 27 - THE ROAD TO HOME

Lamal watched them from the city gates, arms crossed but eyes full of pride.

"Are you sure about this?" he asked.

Rey nodded. "We have to know the truth."

Lamal sighed, placing a hand on Arinn's head. "Then take care of each other. And no matter what happens… always remember, you're family."

Rey gripped his uncle's forearm in farewell, then turned to arinn.

"Ready?"

Arinn grinned, adjusting the small sword at his hip. "Always."

And with that, the two brothers set off—toward the unknown, toward the truth, toward home.

Wherever their parents were, they would find them.

No matter what it took.

The wind carried the scent of the open road as Rey and Arinn walked away from Campbell, their footsteps crunching against the dirt path. The city was fading behind them, and ahead lay the unknown.

Arinn, who had never traveled outside of Campbell before, was filled with excitement. He glanced at Rey every few minutes, his small legs working hard to keep up.

"Where do we go first?" Arinn asked.

Rey adjusted the sword on his back. "We follow the clues. Our parents were heading east when they left you with Uncle Lamal. We start there."

Arinn nodded eagerly. "Do you think they'll remember us?"

Rey hesitated before answering. "I don't know. But we'll find out."

For hours, they walked, the sun beating down on them. Birds chirped in the trees, and a gentle breeze rustled the grass.

To Arinn, it felt like an adventure.

To Rey, it felt like fate was waiting for them ahead.

As a gust of wind rustle Rey's hair he thought to himself

'Fate will be so kind as to let him be free'
