Once they were out of earshot of the mother-daughter pair, Jack said, "I think the daughter might be a problem."
"What? Why? They seem like decent people."
"Maybe you haven't noticed the way the daughter has been looking at us. The looks at me the same way leg humper did, and she looks at you like leg humper looked at the dancer chick."
"Seriously? Are you sure?"
"About the looks, yes. About whether or not they mean trouble, no. I'm hoping her mother keeps her in line."
"Wait, so you think she-"
"Wants me and wants you out of the way? Yes. That's my impression."
"That just seems so..."
"Annoying? Yes."
She huffed. She probably meant something else.
"So, what do you plan to do once we get to the lake?"
"Did you pack a swimsuit?"
"Yes?"
"Great. Then we'll change, put our packs in the plastic bags I brought, and swim across to the other side of the lake."
"Um, I can't swim."
"Well, good thing I brought a floaty. You can ride while I push."
"Oh! Okay. Great."
