Chapter 3 - Unknown reunions

Tall and slender, with pale skin and raven black hair, his face wasn't exactly handsome but possessed a strange beauty. He had weird eyes that looked like pools of silver liquid reflecting the color of whatever he looked at—and Seven bright soul cores. Mordret waved at him, flashing a friendly smile.

"Young man! I see you're taking a nightly stroll like me; please sit down. I don't think I've seen your face, or maybe I have. Tell me, are you new here? Or do I know you from somewhere?"

He knew he would have to see the bastard, but he didn't think it would be this soon. "Yes, I'm new here, and no, I don't think you do. I just moved here a few days ago," Sunny forced himself to put on a friendly and polite smile.

Mordrets smile widened a bit. "Ah! You're the person Seishan visited, Master Sunless, right?" Sunny nodded, prompting Mordret to continue speaking.

" I hope she didn't give too much trouble; she can be intense! But visiting an Emporium out of all places to see this new person was shocking even for me because she hates those things! Though I now understand why she went out of her way."

He gave Sunny a Quick up-and-down look, then nodded to himself while adjusting his black tie.

He patted the spot beside him with an easygoing smile. "I don't bite, I promise!"

Sunny almost punched the bastard square in the jaw but held himself back. He sat on the far side of the bench Mordret was sitting on and smiled again. " Yes, I am Master Sunless. Thank you, Mr."

Mordret stood up and bowed, "Mordret, it is a pleasure to meet you." Then sat back down

Sunny nodded. "Thank you, Mordret"

The Bastard smiled once more. " So, are you bored as well? I can't say I blame you; this place, while it does have its charm, has practically nothing to do for fun! And besides, I have to take a break from those girls every once in a while."

Sunny nodded, "I am. I take nightly strolls whenever I need to think. Nighttime is the best time. " He then put on a confused expression, feigning ignorance, "And did you girls? Are you living with people?"

Mordret moved a bit closer while Sunny tried to move away but realized he had already chosen to sit at the end of the bench. 'Goddamnit!' "Indeed I am, well, I'm more living in the same vicinity as them. You've already met one of them."

Sunny tilted his head and widened his eyes. "The Song Sisters!?"

The Prince of Nothing nodded again. "Yes, but don't be so alarmed, Master Sunless. They don't bite unless asked nicely, of course." he smiled knowingly

"You'll soon find out how pleasant they are to be around. Some of them could be coming to your Emporium in a week or two, more than likely Song Eubin or perhaps Hel after they get back. But enough about me, what about you, Ascended Sunless? I'm curious about your Aspect. What is it? I almost didn't see you in this darkness." He smiled friendly once again

"It has to do with shadows." Sunny had to be careful with what he told him, and he hadn't forgotten how cunning this guy was. Any bit of information could easily give away his identity as Lord Shadow

Mordrets smile widened. "Oh, I see! Do you know anything about other people with an aspect like yours? A Saint, perhaps?

Sunny pretended to ponder, then looked around him. "Well, not a Saint, but an Ascendant who had gone mad after conquering his second nightmare; his name was Kurt. He had a high affinity for shadows. He slaughtered an entire nightclub, and because of that, Soul Reaper went after him. That was the last anyone heard of him."

Mordret looked mortified, but Sunny knew the monster couldn't feel anything other than hatred.

"My goodness! An entire Nightclub? How terrible! Some people are truly sick in the head. I could never imagine doing such a vile act!" Mordret shook his head in dismay

"Thank you, Ascended Sunless, for this information, but I must be on my way. I have a significant meeting to attend with someone." Mordret stood up and bowed

'So they're already going to Godgrave to negotiate with me.' It was about time. Sunny stood up as well. "Of course, I hope it goes smoothly."

"So do I." Mordret smiled pleasantly, then walked into the night

Sunny couldn't have been more glad to be out of a conversation with that lunatic. He had much more important matters to attend to. As he started walking back to the Emporium, he thought about putting a No Mirrors allowed sign on a sign in front of it: ' I'll have Aiko remind me to do that.' He then shifted his focus to his Avatar in GodGrave. He had to prepare for his guests arriving in a few days.

It was hot, extremely hot, and they had been kneeling here for 2 days, waiting for these damn clouds to cover up the sun again. All for a reclusive creep who, according to the sleepers sent to Raven Heart by the mysterious Saint, perpetually lingered in the dark, barely spoke a word, and when he did, it was dark and sinister!

Lonesome Howl was more than annoyed by the lack of information about this man who seemingly appeared out of thin air, but that wasn't the only reason; the Prince of Nothing was also here. He was wearing the body of an awakened woman as a vessel and kneeling along with Revel, Eubin, Hel, and a few of the blood sisters. And on top of it all, the guy wouldn't shut up!

" — Do you think he has snacks? I hope so, considering the trouble we're going through to get to this man! I—"

Lonesome Howl couldn't turn her head, but she practically felt Rev scowling at him. "Mordret! For the love of dead gods, I asked if you gathered any information on this Lord of Shadows, not about whatever you're rambling about right now."

By now, the clouds were again covering the sky, so they all stood up, stretching their limbs, and kept walking.

Howl turned her head a bit to the left to see Mordret smiling innocently

"Oh, well, not much. I met a delicate young man a few days ago. Seishan told me about him. His aspect was related to shadows, but he didn't know anything about the enigmatic Saint either. He didn't have a clue at all. However, Seishan mentioned to me that he was an enchanter." Mordret gave Eubin a glance

Howl rolled her eyes. "So much for your help; how can you simultaneously be so powerful yet useless?

He looked at her with that annoyingly fake pleasant smile he always wears and put a hand over his heart. " You wound Lonesome Howl. My feelings are hurt, but we will move on to a more critical discussion. Ladies, this is supposed to be a negotiation. I think I can handle one on my own."

Bin rolled her eyes and scoffed. "If it were just you, there would be no doubt he would ally with Valor. Getting this Man to ally with our Clan is a very critical and delicate situation."

Hel nodded her head rapidly. " She's right! You would have tried to be, well, you and take over his body.

The Prince of Nothing slightly frowned

" I certainly would not—"

At that moment, all conversation died when they saw an oddity in the bleached white bone of Godgrave. In the far distance, there was a 'tiny' spot so dark that it looked as if someone had poured black paint over that specific place, and eerily enough, they saw no nightmare creatures present near it.

They were suddenly weary; even the Prince of Nothing was as well, but he didn't show it. Though his smile seemed a little forced. "My Oh My! I wonder who that could belong to. "

They summoned their memories and continued to the dark blot. Once they reached their destination, it immediately looked as if night had fallen on God Grave; aside from their footsteps and breathing, there was absolute silence and stillness. They walked several kilometers until they encountered an onyx knight, echo, holding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other.

She was Guarding what looked to be the entrance, staring at them indifferently until she turned their back towards them and started walking. When none of them moved, she hit her shield with the hilt of her sword, signaling them to follow. When they saw that she would not move until they did, they summoned luminous memories and cautiously started to follow her, prompting the echo to move once again.

Hel looked around with wide eyes. " This place smells of death! Death! Oh, death!—-" Revel slapped her hand over Hel's mouth and dragged her along. The strange echo looked over her shoulder momentarily and then faced forward again. She led them through an entry, stopped, and stood next to a several-meter-tall four-armed echo, staring at them with angry red eyes.

They saw tall black marble pillars around the temple's main hall but sensed nothing besides the strange echoes guarding the temple doors.

'Powerful'

Lonesome Howl was still confident they could all kill these unique echoes.

The Prince of Nothing frowned. "I hope we didn't come all this way for someone who isn't even home for his guests. How rude that would be."

They got their answer when an emotionless voice resounded from the darkness around them "Lightslayer, Beastmaster, Lonesome Howl, Deathsinger, Former Prince Mordret of Valor, and the Blood sisters. To what do I owe the pleasure of such exalted people?
