Chapter 4 - Diamonds and Tension

--

The Quin's showroom was all polished marble, champagne flutes, and soft lighting designed to make every piece of jewelry shimmer. Jenna stood near a glass display, laughing with a designer when a subtle hush rolled through the room — the kind that followed tailored authority.

Liam had arrived.

He wore a deep navy suit that sculpted his frame and a confidence that turned heads. Jenna caught sight of him, lips parting slightly before she composed herself with a smile.

"You clean up well, Ryder," she said as he approached.

"Had to match the setting," he replied, eyes flicking to the diamond-studded chandelier above them. "And the host."

"Flattery again," she murmured, accepting a glass from a passing waiter and handing it to him. "You're consistent."

"And you're dazzling." His gaze dropped briefly to the gold necklace around her collarbone — a Quin's original. "Is that part of the collection or a personal favorite?"

"Both," Jenna said. "Limited edition. Like my patience."

Liam smirked. "Noted."

A few guests looked over curiously. Jenna leaned closer, her voice just for him. "They're wondering who you are."

"Then let's give them something to talk about."

Jenna was impressed. He didn't cling or overshadow. He flowed with the room like he belonged, even though this wasn't his arena. He made polite conversation with her staff, even praised the collection with genuine insight.

Later, as the crowd thinned and the music softened, Liam stood beside her by the balcony overlooking the city.

"I had a good time," he said. "Did I earn a spot in the favorites list?"

Jenna turned to him, one brow raised. "Hmm. You're... close."

He stepped nearer, voice low. "Then maybe I'll stick around until I do."

And Jenna? She didn't stop him.
