Chapter 23 - [23] - Return to Polar Star, Alice Nakiri Joins the Dorm

<><><><><><><><>

"It should be in the next day or two. And Yuuki also said he wants to introduce two new friends to us."

Megumi Tadokoro informed everyone of the timeframe, though she wasn't entirely sure of the specifics.

....

Just like that, the day of Yuuki's return arrived. As for the two new friends Yuuki wanted to introduce to everyone, they were, of course, Alice Nakiri and Ryō Kurokiba.

Normally, given Alice Nakiri's status, she should have been staying in the Nakiri family's residential area—yes, the Nakiri family also had a residential area within Tōtsuki Academy.

However, upon learning that Yuuki lived in the Polar Star Dormitory, and that Gin Dojima had also come from Polar Star, Alice Nakiri's interest was piqued.

After learning a bit about Polar Star's situation, Alice Nakiri decided she wanted to move in. As for Ryō Kurokiba, he also followed suit.

"Polar Star was built in such a place? It's really out of the way!"

On the road to Polar Star within Tōtsuki Academy, Alice Nakiri was quite surprised by the dormitory's location. Although she had learned about Polar Star before, it was mostly about its past.

She had no idea about Polar Star's location. Regarding Tōtsuki Academy, Alice only knew about its system and some course content, so she was somewhat surprised now.

The location of Polar Star could be described as quite remote. If not for the road leading to it, she would have suspected they had taken a wrong turn.

"There's nothing to be done about it. That's just how Tōtsuki's system is..."

Yuuki explained that it was all due to Tōtsuki's system. Tōtsuki Academy covered a very large area, but the number of teachers and students within it was very small.

Moreover, influenced by the Shokugeki system, one could obtain construction rights within Tōtsuki.

The Founder of Polar Star built it in a relatively remote location precisely to avoid others.

The layout of buildings within Tōtsuki could be described as quite chaotic—it wasn't uniformly planned. As long as one got the academy's approval and the land was vacant, one could build.

Therefore, many buildings within Tōtsuki had styles and layouts that seemed out of place with their surroundings, and Polar Star was one of them.

After Yuuki's explanation, the two of them understood what was going on. After driving a bit further, the car stopped in front of Polar Star Dormitory.

"It's exactly like the photos. If I hadn't known beforehand, I would have thought this was a haunted house!" Alice Nakiri said, looking at Polar Star, which was covered in ivy and had the distinct potential of a haunted house.

"Isn't this great? It has a sense of history," Yuuki said with a smile. He actually thought it was quite nice. Compared to rows of uniformly splendid high-rises, he preferred Polar Star's appearance.

....

Under his guidance, the three entered Polar Star and immediately encountered Fumio Daimidō, who was cleaning in the main hall.

"Auntie Fumio, I'm back! And I brought two new people for you."

Seeing Fumio Daimidō, Yuuki greeted her directly.

"YUUKI! You're finally back! We've all heard about your exploits... So? When are you going to snatch an Elite Ten seat?"

Fumio Daimidō was quite fixated on the Elite Ten seats. Although she knew it wasn't realistic, she still hoped Yuuki could get one.

"Elite Ten seats aren't so easy to come by. Even if I wanted one, no one would willingly give it to me. Let's talk about this later."

"For now, let me introduce these two to you: Alice Nakiri and Ryō Kurokiba. They will also become members of Polar Star."

Yuuki introduced the two to Fumio Daimidō and also introduced Fumio Daimidō to them.

"Nakiri... I remember now! You're the other young lady of the Nakiri family, Alice Nakiri, right?!"

Fumio Daimidō was about to say that moving into Polar Star wasn't so easy, but then she suddenly noticed Alice Nakiri's surname and quickly recognized her.

After all, there were only two people in the youngest generation of the Nakiri family: Alice Nakiri and Erina Nakiri.

Although Erina Nakiri was definitely more famous, Alice Nakiri had also achieved a lot at Nakiri International, so she naturally recognized her.

"Nice to meet you, Auntie Fumio. I'm Alice Nakiri, and this is my attendant, Ryō Kurokiba."

Alice Nakiri also greeted Fumio Daimidō.

"I don't need to say much about Alice's Culinary skills, right? And Ryō Kurokiba over there is actually a bit stronger than Alice in cooking."

Yuuki added.

As soon as he said this, Fumio Daimidō's eyes lit up even more.

Although Alice Nakiri's achievements were heavily inflated, they also showed that she was indeed very talented. Moving into Polar Star would be very easy for her.

As for Ryō Kurokiba, being even stronger than Alice Nakiri—Fumio Daimidō felt as if the Golden Age was beckoning to her.

"Although Yuuki has vouched for your Culinary skills, the entrance assessment is still necessary." Fumio Daimidō said.

Neither Alice Nakiri nor Ryō Kurokiba refused. Yuuki had already told them about Polar Star's rules.

With their abilities, passing the entrance assessment was as easy as eating and drinking, so now it was merely a formality.

The arrival of the three soon alerted the other residents of Polar Star. Only Satoshi Isshiki was busy with school opening matters and wasn't present—everyone else was in the dormitory.

Upon learning that the person about to join the dorm was Alice Nakiri, everyone was very surprised.

After all, the people living in Polar Star were different from others. Tōtsuki Academy was ultimately an elite school, and most of its students came from wealthy or noble families.

The families of those living in Polar Star, while not poor, weren't exactly rolling in dough either.

Now, for a Young lady from a prominent family to suddenly appear—this was indeed quite surprising.

Their entrance assessments also went very smoothly. After tasting their dishes, the others' eyes lit up.

Alice Nakiri's and Ryō Kurokiba's Culinary skills definitely surpassed those of everyone else in Polar Star, except for Megumi Tadokoro and Satoshi Isshiki.

Moreover, the current Alice Nakiri and Ryō Kurokiba were even stronger than their counterparts in the original story.

Of course, Megumi Tadokoro's Culinary skills were still superior to theirs—this was Megumi after overcoming her nervousness, stronger than her original story self by more than just a little bit.

The addition of the two initially made the atmosphere in Polar Star a bit awkward. After all, Alice Nakiri's status was clear, and those who didn't know her well couldn't really relax.

Ryō Kurokiba, on the other hand, had a completely listless demeanor and hardly spoke to anyone, giving off an unapproachable vibe.
