Chapter 72 - Chapter 72 Then Tris Got a Long-Distance Quest

Day 574 in This World

Forest, a fair distance from Sera City Village, nearing the mid-tier forest

Tris (me) is battling tons of monsters to grind levels and cash in the early morning, as usual.

Piles of Wolf, Gliz, and Picho corpses litter the ground—about 61 in total. I check the monster count in the same spot on other continents…

1,800 monster-disguised bodies across 9 continents reply "No" in unison.

No weird monster transfers to other continents… Naturally, I tested this by having my created bodies and monsters fight other monsters or even each other—no strange transfers there either.

On the other hand, in cities my bodies reached—like port towns aligned with Heroes Reina, Jiw, and Sinsin (though Silica's country isn't near her sea territory)—I tested having Jiw's followers, both my controlled bodies and others, attack monsters with their own power. Result? Monsters got transferred, but at half the rate (kill 3, 1 transfers; tested with Pipo, Reina's party girls, and MaoMao's normal attack skill).

If a hero's party gets indirect hero power, the rate halves (kill 2, 1 transfers; tested with Pipo and party buffed by Reina, and MaoMao's skeleton fixed to human form). Those directly using party member power match the hero's rate (Jiw's A, B, C, D).

I also noticed that buffs from heroes to non-party members or indirect help still cause transfers if the hero's nearby, but the effect fades with time or distance.

So my theory's mostly right.

Anything tied to heroes—especially their direct power—has a higher chance of sending monsters to other continents. Party members or others have less impact.

But one thing bugs me… Maybe I'm overthinking, but if it's about "hero ties," all my fake bodies should send monsters too, right? Yet only Grace's kills trigger transfers…

Is it because the Goddesses are "watching"? If so, those Goddesses are straight-up indirect villains…

After collecting as many remains as possible with a custom-made super-capacity sack, two handbags, and waist pouches, I haul them back to the village, running despite panting a bit. (Leftover remains? Stored in my dimension when no one's looking.)

"Man, I want a Magic Bag so bad…"

Tris mutters, unloading monster remains onto the adventurer guild's urgent appraisal table in the village.

"Hey, haystack hunter!"

"That nickname's fine, I guess… Whatever makes you happy."

"Haha, just teasing! Let's see… 5 sets of Wolf hide and meat, 3 Picho meats… Whoa, 8 Gliz paws! You took down 2 Gliz this morning!? It's only 10:00 AM, and you're going back to farm more, right?"

"Yup, definitely. I'm on a roll lately. [Wolf's Nose] helps track monsters pretty well, so I get a big haul. Only downside's hauling it back."

"Hmm… Maybe I'll grind levels on my day off."

"Come on! I'll help ya."

A simple chat between Tris and Role, a tall, standard-looking guild girl with neatly tied long hair, new to the job. Adventurers' eyes linger on their pile of loot, but they smile and back off.

This village is just a stopover. The real grinding spots are mid-tier forests and dungeons higher up, but Tris farms a low-traffic area. Calculating cash and loot cycles? Heh, even at high levels, it's better money and EXP! (Not counting OP parties with tons of gear, of course.)

Yup, this is how pros play, adventurers!

"Move aside, Role."

"Eh? Yes, ma'am?"

"Here's the cash: 5 Wolf hides and meats, 100z; 3 Picho meats, 30z; 8 Gliz paws, 120z; 2 Gliz hides, 50z… Total 300z. Guild fee 20%, so 240z."

"Huh, are prices lower than usual, Volta?"

"Guess who's causing the price drop…"

"Eh? I'm just hunting normally, not that much!"

"Tris, since you went full-time adventurer, grinding dawn to dusk, 3-5 runs daily, hauling piles of loot, the market for Wolf, Picho, and Gliz paws—already low demand—is tanking. The guild's never seen anyone farm this much low-tier stuff for sale!"

"Eh!? Oh no…"

"Take a break from farming here for a month… Think of the newbie adventurers who can't farm far. I'm begging you… I'll give you a tough, far-off quest instead. I'll tell your parents I sent you, so they won't worry. Deal?"

"Fight on, Tris!"

"Uh, um…"

A muscular woman in a tank top and simple pants, Volta, the village guild leader, hands Tris a small coin pouch. Tris's solo farming's messing with the market, forcing Volta to step in with a serious face, impossible to refuse…

So, Tris gets a long-distance quest (just 20-25 km to another town) with a travel pass, and her parents agree easily… as long as she sends a letter via the guild weekly.

Gonna lose it!!! I used my genius MMO logic for normal farming in this world, forgetting supply and demand!!! Stuff doesn't sell for the same price forever… Ugh, damn it!

Sorry, everyone! I messed up big time! I know this world's market decently, but didn't think it'd hit a small village like this…

But how do I tell Nerim, Waan, and Rejeen… that I'm not stuck in this city anymore…?
