Chapter 13 - Chaos

Ivy's heart was racing as she watched Sebastian leave with Jasmine held tightly in his arms. He looked really dangerous and determined, like he'd kill whoever was behind this when he gets them. She had never seen someone so angry before. She felt a wave of panic wash over her, as she thought of it. How had Sebastian shown up just in time? And what did he know? Did he suspect her involvement? The questions swirled in her head, making her feel dizzy and disoriented.

As she stood there, frozen in fear, her legs began to tremble beneath her. She felt like she was going to collapse, her vision blurring at the edges. Olivia noticed her distress and rushed to her side, concern written all over her face.

"Ivy, dear, are you okay?" Olivia asked, her voice soft with worry. "This must have been such a shock for you. Your sister..." She trailed off and pretended to cry. " Oh dear me, my poor baby. She didn't deserve that." Olivia sniffled.

Ivy forced a weak smile, trying to play it cool. "Yeah, Mom...I'm just...I don't know, it's just all so surreal," she stammered, her voice was low, barely above a whisper.

Olivia wrapped a comforting arm around Ivy's shoulders. "It's okay, baby. Jasmine will be fine. Sebastian will take care of her."

She turned to Lucas , "Honey, we need to know who's behind this and why they have such a malicious intent towards Jasmine." She said with a worry look plastered on her face, pretending to care.

"Of course." Lucas said, looking worried. He didn't understand why someone would choose to drug his eldest daughter on her sister's engagement party at that. He understands that Jasmine is a celebrity, and her rivals in the entertainment industry could easily want to bring her down at all costs. But he's confused as to how the man was able to get in and successfully get her to drink the spiked wine despite the tight security in the estate and why they even chose to do it today. He couldn't help but think that someone in the family might be behind it. He knows that his daughter is not the one to earn herself hatred because she's usually very careful, kind and selfless, not even in her line of work. His mind went to Sebastian. He wondered how he had known that Jasmine was in danger and he felt ashamed that it had happened right under his nose.

But Ivy's mind was racing with worst-case scenarios. What if Sebastian discovered her involvement? What if Jasmine woke up and remembered something? She felt like she was living in a nightmare, unable to wake up.

Just then, her legs gave way beneath her, and she stumbled. Daniel rushed to grab her, preventing her from falling.

"Ivy, are you okay?" Daniel asked, his voice filled with concern.

Lucas approached them, his face creased with worry. "I think she's just overwhelmed, Daniel. Why don't you take her inside to rest? I'm sure Jasmine will be fine. Sebastian will take care of her."

Ivy felt a surge of relief at the suggestion. Maybe she could escape the chaos for a little while, collect her thoughts, and come up with a plan.

"Yes, Daddy," she said, trying to sound weak and concerned about her sister. "I think I need to get rest."

Daniel nodded and wrapped his arm around her waist, supporting her as they walked towards the mansion. "Don't worry, Ivy. Everything will be okay. Your sister will be fine."

As they walked away, Ivy caught her mother's eye, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Olivia's expression was worried, but Ivy's was panicked. She knew she had to keep her secret hidden, but she was running out of time.

The sound of sirens echoed through the garden, and Ivy's heart skipped a beat. The police had arrived to arrest the man who had drugged Jasmine. Ivy watched as the officers approached the man, now conscious but tied down to prevent him from escaping.

Ivy's mind was racing with questions. What would the man say? Would he implicate her? Right, the surveillance cameras! She needs to get to the control room somehow. She's sure the cameras would have captured her talking with Victor. Though they'd met at a restaurant to discuss the plan, but she's sure that the cameras would have filmed when she gave the drug to waiter that served Jasmine earlier.

She felt like she was living on borrowed time, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

As the police took the man away, the tension in the garden began to dissipate. The guests, who had been lingering out of curiosity or concern, started to leave. The party, which had been meant to be a celebration of Ivy and Daniel's engagement, had ended abruptly in chaos.

Ivy, still supported by Daniel, made her way to the mansion. She felt like she was walking through a fog, her mind numb and her senses were dulled. She couldn't shake off the feeling that her world was crashing down around her.

Once inside, Daniel helped Ivy to the couch in the living room. "Do you want some water or something?" he asked, his brow furrowed with concern.

Ivy shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. "No, I'm fine. Just...just give me a minute, okay?"

Daniel nodded and sat down beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "Of course, baby. Take all the time you need."

Ivy closed her eyes, trying to calm her racing thoughts. She knew she had to come up with a plan, and fast. She couldn't let Sebastian or anyone else discover her secret. But for now, she just sat there, trying to catch her breath and process the events of the evening.
