Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 - The Arrival of Dugu Bo

"Grandfather, are the methods Xu Yang mentioned useful?" Du Gongyan asked with confusion. Though she trusted Xu Yang, her own lack of knowledge made it difficult to assess the validity of the three methods, which is why she came to confirm them with her grandfather.

"They are useful, and very practical. However, the books this kid read may not be entirely accurate. The poison pill I created doesn't solve the problem of my own poisoning, but it could be that the poison pill I condensed is flawed!"

When Du Gongbo heard the methods, he thought about his own poison pill. He was able to break through only due to the unique environment of his own herb garden, which involved some shortcuts. Perhaps the poison pill he created wasn't complete, which is why it failed to solve his problem.

"As for the other two methods, the soul bone can solve the problem for our family's soul masters. I will research how to force the toxins out, and I'll also find a suitable soul bone for you, Yan. It should resolve the toxin issue in your body."

"As for the third method, I won't comment on it. After all, I'm unsure about the existence of the legendary immortal herbs. I can't make a judgment based solely on the record of one 'Qirong Tongtian Chrysanthemum.'"

Du Gongbo thought about the rare herbs in his garden and was filled with regret. He had spent his life researching poison and medicine, but he had never considered gathering information from the outside world about these unusual herbs.

It was like guarding a treasure mountain without realizing it.

Meanwhile, Xu Yang was writing about the Land Dragon Golden Melon in a new notebook. Though he wasn't sure about the appearance of the Land Dragon Golden Melon, he was able to write a portion based on the remaining memory he had.

If he remembered correctly, the Land Dragon Golden Melon looked similar to a regular sweet potato, and its method of use was simple—just eat it. He planned for Du Gongbo to find it in his herb garden based on these remaining details.

Yes, the Land Dragon Golden Melon was the immortal herb Xu Yang had prepared for Du Gongbo and Du Gongyan. He was confident that with Du Gongbo's character, once the information was confirmed as real, he would certainly owe Xu Yang a favor and would not hesitate to give him a few immortal herbs from his garden.

Xu Yang didn't ask for much—just a few herbs like the Qiluo Yujinchang, Wangchuan Qiushuilu, Shuixian Yujigu, and Jiguang Fenghuang Kui—leaving the rest to Du Gongbo and Du Gongyan.

He would also try to persuade Du Gongyan to join the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School. This way, in the future, when Du Gongbo passed away, the Ice Fire Yin Yang Eye would be considered the property of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.

Since Xu Yang didn't know much about the Land Dragon Golden Melon, he only wrote a page or two in his notebook, recording all the information he had.

After that, he took out various metal materials, wore a set of single-frame glasses, and began constructing a soul guide propulsion device based on the content in the book.

Time passed quickly, and Xu Yang became completely absorbed in making the soul guide device. He didn't notice the tall figure that appeared behind him, a person who seemed unusually thin, with hollow cheeks, and green hair and eyes that looked out of place.

This was none other than the "Poison Douluo" Dugu Bo.

After hearing his granddaughter's description, Dugu Bo had come to the Heavenly Dou Royal Academy, hoping to gather more information about the immortal herbs from Xu Yang. When he arrived, he saw Xu Yang hunched over the desk, carving something on metal with a chisel, focused, and unaware of Dugu Bo's presence.

Dugu Bo didn't disturb him, wanting to see what Xu Yang was doing.

"Dammit!"

Xu Yang cursed as he made a mistake with his carving. He stabbed the chisel into the nearby desk in frustration. He had almost finished one of the components for the soul guide propulsion device, but he had failed at the last step.

"Kid, what are you doing?" A cold voice suddenly rang out in Xu Yang's ears, startling him so much that he nearly jumped up. His Sun Martial Soul instantly appeared, and eight purple solar rings erupted, shooting out like lightning towards the figure behind him. Without caring whether the attack hit, Xu Yang dashed forward, intending to break through the window and escape.

"Kid, why are you running?!" Dugu Bo hadn't expected Xu Yang to react so strongly. He waved his hand, releasing his soul power to dissolve the eight solar orbs in mid-air. With a flash, he grabbed Xu Yang's shoulder before he could break the window, his voice cold as he asked.

Xu Yang turned to look at the familiar features, and with a sigh of relief, he said, "Senior, scaring someone like that could kill them! I thought you were an enemy!"

Though Xu Yang's reaction had been a bit extreme, this was Douluo Continent, and assassination of talented individuals wasn't uncommon. Xu Yang had once read about a genius from the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus family being secretly killed by the Spirit Hall, with no one able to stop it.

That's why he had reacted so strongly.

"Kid, do you recognize me?" Dugu Bo asked, slightly surprised.

"Of course, Master Ning Fengzhi once introduced me to you, and I've seen your portrait," Xu Yang said with a smile, embarrassed.

"Ah, right. With the power of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, my information must have been investigated long ago!" Dugu Bo muttered. He had known for a while that Xu Yang was Ning Fengzhi's direct disciple, which was why he hadn't acted immediately when he came in.

Although Dugu Bo was a Title Douluo, living outside the major powers, he wasn't entirely alone. He had a beloved and guilt-ridden granddaughter to protect.

If he hurt Xu Yang, he could run, but his granddaughter couldn't.

So he couldn't afford to make a move.

Dugu Bo scrutinized Xu Yang, and although he had some understanding of him, it wasn't enough. Now that they met face-to-face, Dugu Bo saw more clearly. Firstly, the arrogance in Xu Yang's eyes wasn't something born from family or power—it was something inherent. Secondly, Xu Yang was truly young, about eight or nine years old, just as the rumors said. Finally, Xu Yang's earlier attack was powerful. The solar orbs he unleashed were on par with a full-force strike from a Soul Master, and Xu Yang had executed them effortlessly.

After sizing him up, Dugu Bo spoke, "Kid, you intentionally revealed the immortal herb information to Yan to lure me here, didn't you? Did the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School discover something?"

"Huh?" Xu Yang was momentarily confused. How did this turn into something related to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School? He had indeed intended to lead Dugu Bo here, but it had nothing to do with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School!

"It seems I misunderstood," Dugu Bo said after seeing Xu Yang's reaction, realizing his mistake. But his nature was such that he didn't feel the need to change.
