- Cafeteria "would you like something to go?" -
-Maggie ... What is that man doing here?
Rin asks pointing indiscreetly at Xavier with her eyes full of frustration while that man, oblivious to what she says, is just drinking a coffee and sitting very relaxed.
- W-well .... asked me for a coffee and I couldn't refuse him, after all he is a customer, right?
-Maggie questioned me while smiling broadly but with a drop of cold sweat running down her forehead hoping that her boss wasn't so upset just for that, even though she could already see the distrust and annoyance in her eyes.
-So, just a coffee? ... How about that?
-He rolled his eyes while his finger pointed to the counter where there are calla flowers with their elegant and beautiful shapes that stand out at first sight and next to it a box of chocolate chocolates with an expression of dissatisfaction.
-Well, let me tell you, it was strange. ..... -Maggie swallowed hard before continuing to speak in order to choose her words wisely.
-The man came with that while you were busy in the kitchen ..... he approached me with a very firm expression while holding the flowers and roses then he offered them to me and said :
Hey you brat, Here this is for your boss, tell her to accept it without complaining.
(Argument Maggie talking as if she was the man).
Rin was amused to see how her employee imitated the man's rude behavior in just a few words, but quickly her expression became stern again and she approached the counter and took the flowers and chocolates to walk towards Xavier with determination.
Xavier stops looking at his phone and takes his coffee with a small sip as he sees the woman approach he smiles softly and looks at her.
-Good morning, Mrs. Rin. Would you like to sit down and join me?
-He offers her to sit in front of him with a smile.
Rin sees his behavior as something hypocritical and in bad taste.
-It looks like it's going to be a very nice day indeed. ...
Xavier did not finish speaking because he was interrupted by Rin who speaks abruptly with the bouquet of flowers and the chocolates in her hands, she looks at him with a totally fake smile and a vein in her forehead as if it was going to explode.
Sir, you have left this on my service bar, I will ask you to try not to be so absent-minded, you could lose your things if you continue like this.
The smile was not wiped off the man's face, according to him it was determination, according to her it was more like arrogance.
-Oh~ don't worry they haven't been forgotten, I asked your maid to deliver them to you myself. -His smile was more confident with a soft tone in his voice, he didn't look like the same man she met that day but that only made her feel that she was in front of a hypocrite and a liar who wants to take advantage of her kindness.
-Rin sighed deeply before looking at him with a suspicious look.
- You don't understand what you want to achieve, sir. .... But I insist that you stop acting and pretending to be a good person, I know that behind that mask you are putting on there is someone carefree who is not interested in anything but yourself and your selfishness.
-Your look is very severe.... the most severe I've ever seen..... -Xavier said to himself between thoughts, holding the woman's proud and sharp gaze, his heart beating fast and hard. What the hell does she have in those eyes? I feel like I love it.
Rin who still looks at him with annoyance and a frown raises an eyebrow as she notices how the man seems to be excited with her treatment of him, which makes her moelstar much more and puts the flowers and chocolates on the table abruptly before going to the counter to continue working.
-Xavier, who sees her leave the flowers and the chocolate and then retreats, inhales and exhales as if he was short of breath and then takes his coffee and takes a long sip with his gaze recovering his coolness and without stopping looking analytically at the woman attending.
-I sure looked pathetic... I felt so strange!
-he asked himself in a low voice without understanding his own actions and expressions shown before.
Suddenly, the doors of the building opened from side to side and in walked a woman wearing a purple dress, her jewelry still glowing and her white hair tied in a long braid.
-Can't this day get any worse?
Today is not my day....
- That was what Rin commented to herself while she rubbed her forehead as she recognized the woman approaching with calm steps and her heels resounding on the floor, Xavier watches this from his table calmly without doing anything more than watching.
-Good morning Mrs. Devra....
-He said with kindness and respect, hiding his displeasure at seeing her.
-She has come to charge me for electrical services. .... She is the supervisor of "LightGlops" for nothing.
-He reflected in a quick thought before he saw the woman with her fingers on one of her earrings playing with it.
-Good morning Rin, you know you shouldn't be too formal, I don't like to be called ma'am, it makes me feel old. -Devra let out a thin and delicate chuckle.
- This woman is the same age as me. .... It would be illogical if I said good morning young lady or.... Young woman.
- Rin thought to herself as she looks at her with boredom.
Maggie pours an American coffee for the woman knowing that the day has just begun and her boss looks too irritated.
-Devra smiles at Maggie and then looks at Rin, the smile Devra shows of power and authority as if she owns Rin just makes her uncomfortable.
-Why do people with. Why do people with money see others like that? .... Are we all so different from them? At the end of the day we all want the same thing. .... To live in peace and comfort.
-was what a slight subconscious message told Rin.
-What a nice morning, isn't it? Rin...
At least the sunlight should not be paid.
-Rin, who understands the hint, only gets embarrassed and sighs.
-Madam... I mean... Miss Devra, I don't have the money.... I have been in several complications and my debts have come together I apologize for my insolence but I....
She was interrupted, the woman raised her hand to ask for a moment, took out a cigarette and lit it.
-Madam! Smoking is not allowed here. -I say as a warning, wanting to demand respect for the place and the people who eat there.
The woman does not even pay attention, gives a light puff to her cigarette and releases the smoke letting it spread in the air in front of her and Rin.
-You terrify me Rin... -The woman replies with a sweet but authoritative voice.
I'm terrified of poverty, of people who are more than .... simple.
Hearing them complaining scares me, I wouldn't want to live in the same world.
Rin is very embarrassed, her cheeks red with discomfort and annoyed by the woman's way of being but she doesn't say anything, she knows she must behave if she wants more time to be able to pay and not run out of electric service.
But the conversation was interrupted, Xavier stood next to the extravagantly dressed woman and placed his hand on the counter and smiled at the smoking woman with a fake smile.
-Is everything all right, Miss Devra? -He asked with a firm and decisive tone, the woman saw the man and opened her eyes wide.
-X-Xavier? -The woman quickly stammered when she saw him and swallowed nervously.
Do they know each other?
Who is this man for someone like Mrs. Devra to know him?
And even more surprised. -Rin asked herself, trying to find some clue to the events.
-What-what is someone like you doing in a place like this? -asked Devra nervously looking for answers from him, as it seemed illogical for her to see him in that place.
Xavier smiled and grabbed Rin's forearm pulling her to him until he was next to her, he let out a proud smile and pointed at him and Rin.
-We are leaving.
-The man announced normally.
Devra's eyes widen in surprise and she chokes on the cigarette's smoke before she can calm down.
-We are not dating... -Rin mumbled, looking at the man out of the corner of her eye with displeasure at his interruption.
-Dating?! -was what devra asked, recovering his throat after choking on the smoke of the cigarette.
-Yeah, so tell me. What were you two talking about?
I need to know what the woman I'm dating is involved in.
Maggie was serving the other customers with beads of cold sweat and nerves at her boss's expression, which looked like she wanted the floor to eat her.
-It's nothing' we were just talking about makeup and stuff like that, you know. .... Nothing important for you to worry about.
-Devra argues.
-I heard that he told you that we don't smoke devra here.... What are you doing smoking in a coffee shop?
-Xavier questions with his eyes fixed on the woman who doesn't dare to look at him, then throws away his cigarette so as not to disturb the man.
-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset your girlfriend, Mr. Xavier, it won't happen again.
Rin observes curious and questioning Devra's behavior in front of that man since normally she was a firm and quite proud woman, but at this moment she looks as if she had some fear.
-It was just a game, you know I have a bad ear sometimes, but we are good friends, you shouldn't take this so seriously.
Devra smiled widely with nerves, Rin narrowed her eyes looking at her with disbelief of her words, normally she treated her as if she was a beggar instead of a "Friend", but this makes her want to take advantage of the situation.
-Rin takes Xavier's hand and smiles.
Relax sweetie, she just came to collect some money but I told her that I don't have it yet and she will give me more time, right Mrs. Devra?
Rin smiled hiding her malice and happiness for seeing for a moment one of those people that have bothered her so much to look pathetically intimidated.
Xavier felt Rin's hand in his and couldn't help but blush and see devra with more kindness.
-Oh~ how nice of you devra, that's very kind of you. -devra became irritated as Rin's arrogant little smile was present on her lips.
-You shouldn't worry, Mrs. Rin can take her time in getting the money, I'll wait patiently, Well I'm leaving I have some business to attend to.
He commented before leaving with quick steps contrary as always walks calmly and dominating.
-You can now... Can you let go of my hand now? -When Devra left the room, Rin's expression became serious, trying to get Xavier to let go of her hand.
Xavier squeezes Rin's hand a little and looks at her with a smile.
-What's wrong? A second ago you were affectionate with me, it was you who took my hand.
I was just taking advantage of the situation, like you I'm good at hiding my true intentions in order to get some benefit, -I can't deny that your presence was useful but it doesn't mean anything.
-So... are you even going to make it up to me on a date? Or a kiss or something?
-Rin was embarrassed and quickly pulled his hand from Xavier's to look at him in shame.
-N-no! Of course I won't do anything like that
-Ah~ Come on if you're going to at least use me like that you should make it up to me miss, no matter the way but I'd like you to do it.
-Rin, fed up and very embarrassed, pushes him towards the door in an abrupt way.
-It's early, sir, I'm sure you have a lot of work to do, I wish you a good day and I hope you work hard.
She pulled him out of the establishment and inhaled air quickly while he just smiles and leaves.
-Chief! You ran the customer off and didn't pay," Maggie commented with a pout as she saw a customer run off without paying.
-No, it doesn't matter, I'll make up the loss.
-Rin confessed before returning to her job, reddened by the man's insinuations.
-Although I can't deny it... His presence did me some good, for a moment... I don't know why I felt some kind of power or authority over myself to make that woman pay for everything she has put me through on the ..... Even if I don't get that much out of it at least I got some time off... -she thought as she poured a cup of coffee for herself and as she drank it another thought crossed her mind.
-But.... Who is that man? Mrs. Devra knew him.....and seemed to be nervous about his presence, if it wasn't for the fact that he was a jerk on the date we had maybe now she would know who he is.... This makes me very intrigued.
