Chapter 8 - Dark Legacy and Hellish Mission

Gu Liu was sleeping peacefully in the crib, surrounded by a faint glow radiating from the smooth walls of the sacred chamber. Despite his young age, an eerie aura enveloped him, as if something within him breathed forces that this world was never meant to contain.

Suddenly, a transparent window appeared before him, emitting a soft glow:

[System activation initiated…]

A deep and majestic voice pierced the silence of the room:

"Welcome back, Heir of Shadows… It's time to unveil some truths."

Gu Liu's childish features shifted, and he stared at the screen in astonishment.

"What do you mean?"

The system responded in a cold voice:

"The world you live in is known as the Upper Realm, divided into three major continents: the Eastern, Southern, and Western. You were born in the Eastern Continent, the heart of the Gu Family."

"I know that! But what are you really trying to say?"

"You were born with a demonic heart and a rare demonic nature. Your very existence is enough to provoke the wrath of the heavens… You were destined to be the enemy of the entire world."

Gu Liu gasped, his face frozen in disbelief.

"Impossible… That's… impossible!"

"If your parents, Gu Ting and… Gu Ming, hadn't intervened and sealed those demonic phenomena, you would have been executed at birth."

Gu Liu's eyes widened as he whispered:

"Mother… Gu Ming?"

"Yes, but her name alone doesn't tell the full story. Your mother is not originally from the Gu Family. She is the daughter of the leader of the Primal Demon Sect… one of the greatest sects in history."

Gu Liu was shocked.

"The Primal Demon Sect? Are… are they evil?"

"The sect is labeled demonic by the heavens, but the truth is far more complex. The Primal Demon Sect does not use corrupted dark techniques. Instead, they deepen harmony with ancient primal forces. Despite their terrifying reputation, no one dares attack them—not out of fear alone, but out of respect."

The system's voice grew more serious:

"The Primal Demon Sect stands on equal footing with the Immortal Gu Family… In fact, they are eternal allies."

Gu Liu's eyes widened in astonishment, and the system added:

"They played a pivotal role in the Great War ten thousand years ago, when the Upper Realm was plunged into deadly chaos. The sect supported the Gu Family and turned the tide of war. As a result, an unbreakable alliance was formed between the two."

"Since then, every new head of the Gu Family marries from the sect to strengthen the alliance… That's how your father married your mother, Gu Ming."

A chill ran through Gu Liu's body, a mixture of awe and pride.

"So… I'm backed by two great powers?"

"Not just great—two of the strongest forces in the Eastern Continent. When united, no being dares stand against them."

Gu Liu curled up slightly and asked in a hoarse voice:

"Does that mean… I'm evil?"

The system chuckled softly:

"No, you are the destined villain… And it is my duty to prepare you for that. You won't be alone. You'll receive my full support, and insane rewards as you embrace your fate."

"What kind of rewards?"

"When you turn ten, I will grant you a great gift, and the system's exclusive shop will open for the first time."

"Tell me now!"

"No. Some things cannot be revealed before their time… But know this well: your fate defies the will of the heavens. The link between the system and the heavens was severed the moment you merged with it, which means the heavens can no longer interfere with your growth…"

"But in exchange, you will be hunted by many spies and forces that will try to eliminate you before you grow."

Gu Liu's eyes widened in terror.

"You… you made me a target for death at every moment! You stupid system! Damn you!"

"The first attack has already happened… but your great ancestor, Gu Qing Tian, protected you without your knowledge."

"And now, a powerful delegation is preparing to head to the Nine Blades Sect to erase the disgrace they tried to cast upon your family."

Gu Liu's eyes gleamed with awe and admiration:

"My family… is really that strong?"

"Stronger than you can imagine…"

The scene shifted to the celestial courtyard of the Gu Family palace, where the delegation was preparing to depart.

At the front stood:

The Third Elder: Gu Zan, his eyes blazing with authority.

The First Elder: Gu Xuan, whose stern gaze instilled fear in all.

The Fourth Elder: Gu Mo, the master of strategies and warfare.

Also joining the mission were five semi-immortal warriors and ten peak-level emperors.

Suddenly, just as they were about to set off, the sky split with a soft violet light, and a woman appeared, standing atop a flying sword. Her hair fluttered like flames, and her presence radiated immortal dignity.

"Wait… I won't let you leave without me."

It was Aunt Gu Rui Tian, the last to join the delegation.

She descended lightly onto the airship's deck and looked at them with a faint smile:

"My nephew Gu Liu is the first of our generation to be born with such talent… I won't stand idly by."

The flying ship launched, piercing the clouds like a blazing meteor, heading toward the Western Continent…

And the response would be fiery.
