"You... you came," Rachel said hoarsely, stepping aside to let Jeffrey into the room.
"Did I keep you waiting, sis?" Jeffrey smiled as he walked over to the table, where he noticed the case files Rachel had laid out but hadn't had time to put away.
His dark eyes narrowed slightly as he picked up a few documents and glanced through them. "So, you're looking into that old case again?"
Rachel's body stiffened a little.
She had talked to Jeffrey about the case before, but back then, she had no idea who he really was.
Now that she did, bringing it up again felt super awkward.
Even if she believed with everything in her that she was innocent, the accident still happened, and the person who died... was his fiancée.
"What's wrong, sis?" he asked, noticing her silence and looking up at her.
"Just… browsing a bit," she replied, swallowing hard.
