Chapter 32 - Eli's past bet

"Eli, Are you joking?" Her mother asked Eli dubiously.

"No" Eli replied curtly.

Well, Eli's mother and his second aunt Emma were trying to arrange a marriage for Eli with their friend's daughter. They were actually very upset after hearing the news.

"I won't agree," Eli's mother Rebecca replied, showing her maternal authority to her son.

Eli looked at his mother to tell him what she wanted to say.

"I have already arranged a marriage for you. She is the best and most suitable for you. You will reject the marriage today and marry the girl I have chosen for you."

No matter how hard she tried to command him or show her authority as his mother, she could not suppress Eli's presence even a little.

Before Eli could answer, a voice with authority came from the entrance of the dining room, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Everyone turned their heads in the direction of the voice. The person who came was Grandfather Allen. "Since I haven't been home for a few days, have you already taken my place in the house?" Grandfather Allen's words were sharp and direct.

"Eli told us when he was 15 years old that he would choose his wife and he didn't want anyone's opinion about his marriage. Now, what is your purpose in ordering him to marry the person you chose?

Cedar, I think you should take your wife with you and choose to live outside the family after your retirement. I didn't think she had the right to live in my house, after she was against my decision."

Cedar looked at his wife angrily for crossing the line. He felt the same way before his father came and tried to reprimand her, but before that his father had already arrived.

"I'm sorry Father. it's my fault. I want to give my son the best. So, I did wrong." Eli's mother hurriedly replied to escape the storm she would have to face if she didn't accept Eli's marriage.

Second Aunt Emma shook her head helplessly. Well, she didn't have the courage to go against Grandfather Allen.

It was actually a bet that Eli made with his grandfather. He didn't tell Lily about the bet. When he was 15 years old, He talked to his grandfather and made a bet that he would join the army quickly. If he became a major general before he turned 22 and retired, he would win. His grandfather agreed to let him choose his wife.

Well, Eli's family is not against love, but he didn't want to take any chances and asked his grandfather about this.

Grandfather Allen wanted to tell him that he didn't need it and that he could marry the girl he liked (he trusted his grandson's choice) but he was tempted by Eli's bet that he would become a major general in 5 years. So Grandfather Allen agreed and informed the whole family.

At that time, the whole family was surprised by the bet and Eli's desire to choose his wife. Well, he was only a 15-year-old boy but he was already thinking about choosing his wife and betting on it.

Back to the present,

Eli frowned and asked his grandfather coldly, "What are you doing here, Grandfather?"

"I'm here to personally arrange everything to welcome my granddaughter in-law." Grandfather Allen replied to Eli.

"Why are you discharged on your own? Uncle David, I told you to let me know if he does something like this?" Eli questioned.

"Young Master, Master doesn't want to bother you. He thought it wouldn't be good for you and the young mistress to come to the hospital before going to the marriage registration."

"Do you think I don't even know how to discharge myself. You can go and have fun with your wife." Grandfather Allen responded.

"Eli, what does hospital and father discharge mean?" Cedar asked about everyone's doubts.

"Grandfather had an accident two days ago."
