The coin Gotoh flicked was already spinning rapidly. The high-speed rotation, upon contact with Loki's fingers, created intense friction, causing the coin's temperature to spike dramatically. Loki pinched it, deforming the coin and causing it to emit white smoke.
"Tch. Simpler than I anticipated," Loki said calmly, a slow smile spreading across his lips.
"What was that speed?! Did you see it, Gon?" Kurapika asked, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. They couldn't see when Gotoh threw the coin or when Loki caught it.
Gon, also sweating, shook his head. "No, I only saw a blurry black shadow flash, and then… then…"
'Impossible. Even an Enhancement-type Nen user couldn't catch my coin so easily, unless…' Gotoh thought. Unless Loki wasn't just an Enhancement type, but possessed Nen of far superior quality and quantity.
Gotoh's expression changed completely, his gaze filled with terror.
"He caught Mr. Gotoh's coin! How?!"
Unlike Gon and the others, who hadn't seen clearly, the Zoldyck butlers surrounding them had witnessed the exchange. They knew the power of Gotoh's coin throws. Yet, this kid had effortlessly caught it with his bare hand, using only two fingers.
Canary's eyes flickered, recalling her attempt to attack Loki. If she had hit him, she might be dead now. A cold sweat broke out on her back; she felt like she had narrowly escaped death.
Gotoh's attack was strong, but only under equal Nen conditions. While Loki hadn't developed his Nen abilities yet, his Nen quality and quantity far surpassed Gotoh's. Even though Loki wasn't an Enhancement type—Netero's analysis of Loki's Water Divination suggested strong aptitudes in Emission, Manipulation, Transmutation, and Conjuration, with Enhancement being unknown—this didn't mean his Nen strength was low.
Specialization-type Nen users differ from the other five types. Other types can improve their Nen abilities in other types through training. For Specialization types, the strength of each type, from 0% to 100%, is innate and cannot be increased or decreased. If Loki could use Enhancement at 50%, that wouldn't change through training.
To increase their combat strength, Specialization-type users must increase their total Nen and refine their Nen quality and techniques.
With Nen far surpassing Gotoh's, catching Gotoh's coin only required skill, not great difficulty.
Loki, watching Gotoh, speechless with shock, manipulated the coin with his fingers, crushing it into a ball in his palm with a slight squeeze. He opened his hand, revealing a golden sphere.
It looked easy, but Gotoh knew the difficulty involved.
Gotoh stared at Loki, speechless.
'He wasn't using full power against Canary!'
'This kid is a true monster.'
Gotoh had heard Loki say he'd only recently awakened his Nen. While Loki's talent was terrifying—mastering Nen in minutes—time was Gotoh's advantage. He thought dealing with a talented but newly awakened Nen user would be easy. But Loki was more than just talented. Reaching this level so quickly was unbelievable.
'Unbelievable. A kid so easily surpasses me, someone who's trained for years.'
"For this next attack, Butler, I suggest you muster all your concentration. Otherwise, I can't guarantee what unforeseen consequences might occur…" Loki said, showing no concern about his own terrifying power. This was basic for him. It wasn't basic for Gotoh.
Gotoh's sweat poured down his face.
"Then, I shall begin!"
As Loki spoke, an invisible wave spread from him, even felt by Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio, who hadn't learned Nen yet.
"This is Nen!" Kurapika exclaimed in awe.
Within moments, under Loki's intense gaze, Gotoh's clothes were soaked with sweat. Using Gyo, Gotoh clearly saw the flow of Loki's Nen. It was terrifying. If Gotoh's Nen was a river, Loki's was a mighty, surging ocean.
Loki gathered his immense Nen, imbuing it into the deformed coin. He flicked the coin with his middle finger and thumb. A powerful gust of wind erupted from his palm, spreading outwards. The plants on the ground were pressed flat, their fragile bodies swaying. The branches above shook, leaves rustling against each other.
"Here it comes!" Gotoh's eyes widened.
The coin shot out like a cannonball, instantly creating a terrifying shockwave.
'So fast… I can't… dodge…'
Even with his Nen at its peak, Gotoh couldn't react. The coin, carrying a terrifying Nen shockwave, grazed Gotoh's face, sending him flying. The coin continued into the forest and disappeared.
Gotoh lay on the ground, a bloody streak across his left cheek, looking like he'd been punched.
Lying on the ground, Gotoh propped himself up using his arms. He swallowed hard.
Boom boom boom!
Loud sounds echoed from the direction the coin flew. Looking up, they saw the coin was gone, but the trees in the forest shook violently, leaves falling. Several large trees fell, forming a line.
Everyone's faces were numb. Such power from such a small body.
'If that attack had been aimed at me…' Gotoh couldn't imagine the outcome. He couldn't have blocked it. Just a graze felt like a punch. If he'd been hit, he'd be dead. The coin's destructive power extended far beyond its size. In Gotoh's hand, it was like a bullet; in Loki's, it was a cannonball. This made Gotoh suddenly understand Silva's intention in having him test Loki.
