Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

I don't know. I don't know if...I was going to let this continue anymore. How much longer could I take this? Would I make it out alive before getting kicked out of this place? My spine, my skin, I was going to fall apart.

It wasn't until I was awake that I heard a different voice upstairs. This sounded like a child's voice. I heard fear, and a hint of misunderstanding. I rush upstairs to find out what is happening. I saw what I expected to see...another child in the main entrance hall. He was African-American. Noah was holding him by the shirt collar... tightly.

"What's going on in here? Who is this?" I said sadly with emphasis in my voice. I feel the pain within this child. I don't think he did anything wrong.

"Get back in you God damned room, Leon. I will deal with you later." Tamm yelled while talking on the phone with someone on the other side. Then she glared back at the boy, smiling slightly. Of course, they were overreacting as usual.

"Sir, please let go. I was only wondering if you wanted to donate money to the orphanage." He said, holding a bag labeled "Donations", with some cash inside.

Noah had taken it out of his hand, passing it to Tamm. " And, you stole from us. We will be taking this."

"Damn, why is there so little money in here?" She peeked in the bag, disappointed. "If you only got this amount, you should know better that no one wants to donate to the orphanage."

"911, what's your emergency?" From the landline were the police.

"Yes, we have a thief in our house. He tried to steal from us." She looked at the boy, smirking. She was proud of what she was doing.

That was it. I have to put an end to this...because if I didn't, they would keep hurting people. I walked to the living room to the fireplace. Above was a hatchet. I held it in both hands firmly. The hatchet was heavy, but not nearly as much of the weight of pain on my shoulders. It took me time to walk, I was hesitating to do what I thought was right...but that didn't make much of an obstacle. I head back the the main hall.

"You are so going to get into trouble. I will make sure when you get sent back to that place...no no one will adopt you." She looked around, shocked to see me.

I raised the axe and sliced into Noah's shoulder. I lift and lower back into the bone, repeating until he stops screaming. Every time the hatchet went into Noah, I felt my humanity leaving me. Tamm ran away from me and went to the back of the house crying. I knew her bark was bigger than her bite.

I went to where Tamm was to finish her off next. I stood tall over her, lacking expression, but filled with hate and bloodlust. "No, no, no, please don't do this. I am sorry were hurt you, Leon."

"You let Noah brand my back, and you felt bliss in my suffering. You were supposed to be my mother and father. I can't take it anymore, so be it. If I end up in hell for this, when I meet you there, I will be waiting, torturing you guys again, and again and again." I sink the blade into her chest, cracking the sternum. I closed my eyes because it hurt me more than hurting half a human being. "You made me do this!"

She yelled and cried in agonizing pain. Tamm didn't stop...until she did. But killing her felt like hurting half of what I could ever feel empathy for.

What have I become? They took my humanity from me and made me a killer.

The kid watched in horror, traumatized, standing in place with no movement. "Just get out of here, so you don't have to see what happens next, kid." He runs out the door and disappears.

I sit down in the hall with my red hands. I covered my face and felt my faith in humanity dissolving away slowly. That was when I heard the police siren outside and the pounding of the front door.

"Open the door, now..." I didn't do anything, I just allowed them to do what they needed. "Warning, if you don't open up, we will have no choice but to enter the premises..."

Then the door gets kicked in with a loud crunch of the lock and hinges. The officer was holding a gun, pointing it at me. I put my hands in the air. The blood was dripping down them. Then Noah's body was in a pool of blood.

"Oh..my god. Guy, get in here. We got bodies, get inside now." One rushed inside and looked around the house. I hear a gasp from the kitchen. "We got another in the kitchen. Hold up, let me check her pulse...."

"You're under arrest for the murder of Noah and Tamm Parsey." He cuffs my hands and pulls me to the back seat of the car. Then, for a while, I watched the world outside. Ambulances, body bags, and the kid being taken somewhere else after being confronted, after they asked him questions.

I was driven to the police station and locked in a cell that night. But, unlike what I slept on. I had a legitimate bed...Although I still couldn't sleep that night. In the morning, I was transported into a small concrete room with a big metal table, looking at my hands on it. On the side was a whiteboard, with some light seeping through, and talking on the other side.

Then the door opened, and inside came a lady with a purse. She sat down on the other side of me and pulled out a stack of papers. Then she showed me some photos of the crime I committed. "Why did you do this, Leon?"

"Who are you supposed to be?" I said, looking at her, but not noticing any difference from Tamm or Noah.

"You can call Dr. Lammy, Leon. And I have many things to ask of you." She said while holding the pen to the paper, waiting for my response.
