Avery's heart was racing as she grabbed Ryker's arm , her eyes fixed on the shadowy figures lurking in the shadows . " We need to get out of here ," she whispered urgently .
Ryker's eyes met Avery's , and he nodded . " Let's go ," he said his voice low and even .
Lyra and Kael followed close behind as they quickly made their way through the winding streets , trying to lose the shadowy figures in the crowded market .
But no matter how fast they walked , Avery could feel the figures eyes on her , watching her every move . She knew they had to find a safe place to hide , and fast .
As they turned a corner , Avery spotted a small , unassuming door hidden between two large buildings . " In here ," she whispered , pushing open the door and slipping inside .
The others followed close behind , finding themselves in a narrow , dimly lit corridor . Avery led the way , her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to find a safe place to hide .
But as they walked , Avery couldn't shake the feeling that they were being herded towards some unknown destination . The corridor seemed to stretch on forever , twisting and turning through the heart of the city .
