Chapter 11 - Entering Vale Manor

After leaving the tavern he left the matter of his brother behind and quickly headed toward Emerald City. It has already been a week since he killed Broken Spear and his subordinates. The Pale Oath must have already gotten the news a long time ago, they were probably sending more people after him.

But more importantly his father…Kieran didn't know if there was only one squad of killers assigned the mission to kill his father. If that was the case then he would have some time to make preparations but if Broken Spear and his group was only one of the squads then his father could be in danger right now.

When Kieran entered Emerald City he returned to his occupation as a beggar again and began wandering around the Vale Family Manor.

Looking at the sign of festivities everywhere, Kieran was confused. He sat by the road and listened to conversations of the people walking by.

"By the way what's happening at the Vale manor, why is everyone gathered?"

"Didn't you hear, it's said the third son of the Vale family is returning home."

"You mean that genius warrior?"

"Yes, Lord Vale is planning to throw a big celebration to welcome him. Maybe if we're lucky we can also get a free meal."

Kieran had been wondering how he could infiltrate the manor for some time now, but hearing that there was a celebration planned for his brother he quickly formulated a plan.

The restaurant opposite the Vale family manor.

It was midday and the place was very busy. At this time a man walked in through the door of the restaurant. He was tall and dark skinned with a ferocious scar across his face. There was a large saber dangling from his thick waist.

The newcomer walked over to a table and slammed down onto the chair roughly.

"Um, sir, what would you like to order?" The nervous waiter couldn't even look the man in the eye.

"Give me everything on the menu!" The gruff man slammed a huge piece of silver on the table.

At this time the manager of the store heard the commotion. Looking at the silver his eyes gleamed. He bumped the waiter aside with his fat body, and bowed seriously to the dark skinned man, assuring him that the food would be out quickly.

Soon after everyone who came to the restaurant could see a scary looking man furiously eating from a table full of plates.

After a while, the plates were emptied and the gruff man leaned back and burped.

He called the manager over with an impatient expression, and pointed across the road.

"By the way, I hear there is some celebration happening?"

"Yes, sir. The third eldest son of the Vale family is back after spending a long time away studying at a warrior academy. The owner of the house is preparing a welcome celebration for him tonight."

Seeing that the gruff man seemed very interested in this, the man leaned over and said in a quiet voice:

"I'll let you in on a secret honourable sir. It's said that an elder of third son from the same school has already arrived, and the Vale family is hosting her."

"You know a lot."

"Actually, our restaurant is providing all the meals and services for the evening!" The fat manager had a bright face thinking about this.

"Oh?"

Hearing this the gruff had a glint in his eyes, and then he placed a few pieces of silver on the table and said:

"I have a nephew, he is very talented in the warrior arts you see but it's hard to get attention from those prestigious schools…"

Hearing this the manager was confused. What was this guest getting at?

Seeing as the manager didn't understand, the dark skinned man didn't beat around the bush anymore, "You let my nephew join your team and allow him to meet that elder!"

"Sir…" The manager didn't want to cause any trouble, after all he had just met this man. Who knows if this nephew of his was actually talented or not? The Vale family would not allow anyone to ruin their celebration.

But before he could tactfully reject him the ferocious man glared at the manager while placing his handle on the saber at his waist.

And so when evening came, a group of servers began to enter the Vale Manor in a loud procession, not many people noticed that an extra person had been added.

"Hurry up, the Vale family is having a banquet and the buffet must be set up before night."

"If we complete this order, everyone will get a reward. We can't miss the opportunity."

There were a lot of people, and everything was bustling. In addition to the cooks, there are also many waiters.

Following behind the head manager was a waiter carrying many bottles of wine. It was a young man with an ordinary face. Looking at his innocent eyes and simple expression, one could tell that this was a person who was not very bright.

Kieran looked around at the familiar house that he had grown up in.

These hallways and courtyards were filled with the indelible memories of his childhood. Maybe if he hadn't run away that day, he would still be here. A noble son of the prestigious Vale family, insteading trying to sneak in like a rat.

Kieran shook his head and laughed to himself. He was never the noble son, otherwise why would he have run away?

The head butler of the Vale family was guarding the entrance of the inner manor with some servants. They simply checked the things the people were carrying and then let them in.

After a while, it was Kieran's turn.

Glancing at the head butler, he lowered his head slightly. Even though he was confident in his disguise, this was one the men who was most familiar with him other than his brothers and father. He wasn't sure if he could spot any clues.

And sure enough when the head butler glanced at this young waiter he did feel a strange sense of familiarity. But he was certain he had never seen this young man before.

Before he could think too deeply about it, the other people waiting began to pile up, so the butler just waved his hands to let the person through and started inspecting the other people.
