'What the hell is happening?'
Dein's head hurt so much, his body hurts so much. Is the world spinning? Because Dein feels extremely dizzy today for some reason.
Where is Freya?
Isn't she supposed to teach him about survivability today? So where is she? And where is Dein?
Everything is spinning, and spinning and spinning.
Damn, did those stupid kids decided to pull a prank on him again and put something on his breakfast?
Wait… but wasn't it supposed to be dinner time? Father would be angry if Dein skip dinner, its the only time he's at home after all.
'Shit, what am I doing, there's no way I could miss that!'
Yeah, that's right, there's no way he could miss going out with Freya today. She said, she'll buy… no, I think she said we'll train? No no, I'm pretty sure she said we're going to a memory boutique today… yeah, I'm sure of it! That's what she said, she said we're gonna play after running some test.
Yup, that's right! That's what she–
*Bang*
A loud bang erupted on Dein's ears as a shocking pain suddenly coursed through his whole body. Startled, his body instantly moved on its own only to be sent back reeling on the ground as he felt his forehead slammed onto something.
"Ahh! shit…" He cursed, confused and in pain.
Just what the hell is that? Dein had only hit his head and yet his whole body is in pain. His shoulder, right leg, his left side and especially so, his neck.
Sprawled on the ground, Dein shook his head off, his vision blurring and multiplying at the same time.
What's happening? Wasn't he dead?
Dein is somewhat sure he had died, or at least on the brink of, so what is happening now? Slowly, Dein's vision returned along with his other senses and although the pain still lingers, it had dimmed enough for him to endure.
But really, Dein would've endured better if not for the annoying cry that had forced it's way into his ears the next moment.
"Ouchy! Our head hurts! Mr sleepyhead killed our head! Waaa…"
The continuous annoying moaning and whimpering beside Dein pulled his attention from the world of pain he's being tormented in. He looked up slightly from the ground only for his eyes to widen in confusion when he did.
What?…
What in the actual fuck?
'Why is there a child here?'
If earlier, Dein was confused of his situation, now he's bewildered. If he remember correctly, Dein is lost in the middle of the foggy forest, being attacked by two unknown strangers so how could there suddenly be a child here…
The barrage of confused thoughts on Dein's mind suddenly came to a stop when he finally decided to look up. His eyes widened.
'No way…'
He looked around hoping that his eyes were only playing tricks on him but to his dismay, they weren't. Everywhere around Dein is covered in a wooden bars of sorts while both above and below him were made of solid wood that seemed impenetrable.
As the child beside him continued to cry, Dein straightened, his mouth agape while his eyes penetrated the gap in each of the wooden bars.
Dein was trapped… inside a small cage that hung few meters above ground, tied to a tree.
And not just him too.
Everywhere he looked outside of his cage, countless different monsters of countless different shape, size and formed, was locked up inside a cage that hung from their own respective trees.
It was both breath taking and chilling to see…
'Just what in the actual fuck is going on in this nightmare?'
This is only his first nightmare god dammit! Why the hell is he surrounded by dozens of nightmare creatures already! And of different ranks and class at that!
'Am I suppose to fight all of this monsters just to escape this nightmare?!'
No, surely not. No matter how much the spell hated him, there is no way it'll make him face that many enemies at the same time. And without an aspect too!
There's no way…
'yeah, there's no fricking way'
No matter what, Dein refuse to believe it. He couldn't even beat two normal… or are they awakened? Dein doesn't know but anyway, the truth still stands! He couldn't even outrun two people so how is he going fight all of this!
Dein was just about to open his mouth to complain to the spell but he was suddenly pulled from his thoughts as he felt a sudden blinding pain attacked his leg… well, it wasn't really supposed to be blinding if not for the fact that his body is already in pain.
Grimacing, Dein looked down and saw the crying little girl he heard just moments ago, pinching his leg with a pout on her round face.
"Arh! You little… why did you do that?!"
"Say sorry…"
Huh? What is this girl talking about? Why is she making him apologize all of the sudden–
Dein was cut off from his thoughts again as the little girl pinch his thigh harder.
"You bast–"
"Say your sorry mister…"
The little girl ordered, her nose reddened from crying, snot falling slightly on her nose and with her round eyes filling up with unshed tears, she almost looks like she's pleading.
'But why…'
Finally, Dein remembered his head head hitting something hard when he woke up as well as the little girl crying earlier while holding her forehead. Did he actually hit her? No, the right words should be, he bumped at her. So… why does Dein have to apologize? It's not like it's intentional and al–
Dein found himself grimacing in pain for another more time as the little girl started twisting the skin on his thigh. He screamed.
"Aarhh! Stop! Aarh! I'll apologize. I'll apologize!!"
Still sniffing, the little girl let go of his thigh, making Dein, already crawling on the ground from the pain, breathe a sigh of relief.
"Apologize…" The little girl said one last time, still crying.
"Yes yes, I'm sorry alright? I'm so sorry I hit your forehead"
Hearing his apologies, the little girl's face finally lit up and her tears seemingly dissapeared as she let out a smile.
"Kay, we forgive you!"
We? Wasn't it supposed to be "I"? But then again, Dein doesn't know how people in this place refer to themselves. That said…
'…Why does this girl looked so proud about it'
With a smug, the little girl stared at Dein proudly. He doesn't know why, but the awkward stupidity of it all slightly annoyed him.
With a long sigh that made its way out of Dein's mouth, as if saying 'ugh, what the hell? Forget it!' Dein inquired.
"So umm, little girl?… Anyways, do you know how I got in here?"
The little girl's eye's lit up as she answered.
"No idea!"
What? Then why are you so excited stupid! But Dein did not voice that out, instead, he said.
"Do you know where we are?"
Once again the little girl answered.
"Nope! No idea"
Dein sigh again. Well, if the girl can't answer where they are and how they got here then she probably also doesn't have an idea why they're here. And forcing the girl to remember would be unfair considering Dein himself doesn't remember anything from how he got here.
That said, he still have to ask questions.
"Well then, can you at least tell me about yourself?"
This time Dein had one hundred percent expected an answer, it's the girl's origin he's asking after all, she should know at least that much. To his disappointment and shock however, the girl answered again, shaking her head excitedly.
"Also no idea!"
"What? What do you mean?"
Still wearing a huge smile on her face, the little girl responded. Swaying left and right as if enjoying the futile conversation.
"We woke up here alongside mister just now too, we tried waking him up but mister hit us instead!"
Again with that we! It's getting annoying. Also, Dein is pretty sure they bumped at each other, he didn't hit her! Well, whatever. The little girl seems to not be able to remember anything from before she woke up in here.
'just my luck'
Internally rolling his eyes in disappoinment, Dein ask instead.
"Do you at least know your name?"
If she still doesn't then this is hopeless. Dein wasn't just stuck inside a cage hanging from a tree like a fruit waiting to be plucked, he's also stuck here with a weird child who he can't even get any information from!
The little girl's smile widened as she joyfully moved around.
"Hihi… nope!"
Dein closed his eyes before sighing once more.
'Haaa, knew it'
