Chapter 12: The Weapon Called Vision
Inside Team Z Locker Room – Post-Match
"We won! Victory for Team Z—hooray!!" Kunigami Rensuke shouted shirtless, grinning with pride.
"Quiet down! You act like you scored," Raichi Jingo scoffed while changing into a fresh shirt.
"What are you saying?! Put me up front next time—I'll bag a hat trick!" Kunigami fired back.
"No way! I'm up next!" Imamura Yudai cut in, already fighting for the striker spot.
The locker room buzzed with energy—banter, laughter, and fire.
Amid the chaos, Isagi Yoichi approached Yūshin Seiichi, who was untying his cleats.
"Thanks for that last pass, Seiichi. Without it, I couldn't have scored…"
Seiichi smiled. "Haha, no need to thank me. You made the run."
"Still…" Isagi rubbed his head. "Why were you so sure I'd be there?"
Seiichi tilted his head. "I sensed it was a goal spot. Maybe… your weapon helped you find it."
"Weapon?" Isagi blinked.
"In Blue Lock," Seiichi explained, "everyone has something unique. Like Bachira Meguru's dribbling, Chigiri Hyoma's speed, Kunigami's long shots…"
"What about me?" Isagi asked, leaning closer.
"You…" Seiichi began—
Cough. Cough.
A buzz silenced the room as Ego Jinpachi appeared on the overhead screen.
Match Update
"Congratulations, rough-cut diamonds," Ego began. "Match Two in Building 5 is complete."
"Team V defeated Team Y… with a score of 8–0."
"Eight to zero?!" Kunigami clutched his head. "That's insane!"
"Shut it, dumbass!" Raichi barked. "So what? We're still on top!"
"The stronger the enemy, the better," Bachira grinned, eyes glinting.
"So Team V and Team Z both have 3 points now," Gagamaru Gin added.
"If we beat Team Y and Team W, we'll end with 9 points!" Kunigami counted on his fingers. "Even if we lose to Team V, everyone advances!"
"What are you saying?!" Raichi snapped. "We're not losing anything!"
"Yeah! No more losing!" Imamura added.
The air crackled with fierce conviction.
Team Z Dormitory – Late Night
Isagi bolted upright in bed, narrowly avoiding Kunigami's flailing leg.
That guy sleeps like a wrecking ball…
He sighed and looked at the ceiling.
I should be thrilled—I scored the winning goal. But I can't sleep… Seiichi still hasn't told me what my weapon is.
He glanced across the dorm—Seiichi's bed was empty.
Where did he go?
As he passed the hallway, a rhythmic clink echoed from the gym.
Isagi peeked in.
There, under flickering LED lights, was Yūshin Seiichi—pushing hard on the leg press, drenched in sweat.
Isagi stared, stunned.
A genius… who works even harder than us? That's terrifying.
He stepped in silently.
Seiichi muttered to himself, breath ragged.
"Damn it… I didn't even beat Barō today… I've been slacking. If Zeya finds out, I'll never hear the end of it."
Isagi smirked.
"Seiichi?"
"Gah! A ghost?!"
Seiichi jumped back, wild-eyed—then exhaled when he saw Isagi.
"Dude! Don't sneak up like that!"
"Sorry," Isagi chuckled. "I was just… thinking about what my weapon is."
Seiichi grabbed his towel, smirking.
"Well then—let's eat first. I'm starving."
"Huh? I only have natto—"
"Perfect. Let's go."
Cafeteria – Rewards Board
"I want that one!" Seiichi pointed to a juicy steak meal listed on the points board.
Isagi blinked.
"We can use our goal points… for food?"
"Yup," Seiichi nodded. "Or a phone. A mattress upgrade. Even a day out."
Isagi's jaw dropped.
"I want all of it…"
"For now," Seiichi cut in, "you scored. So I want steak~"
Later…
"Wowww~ this smells incredible!" Seiichi practically moaned, inhaling the aroma.
He sliced the steak and pushed half toward Isagi.
"This is yours."
"Really? I said I'd treat you though…"
"You earned it."
They ate in silence. The kind that only came after hard-earned victory.
Isagi leaned back, full and satisfied.
Then—
"Jie," Seiichi said calmly, "your weapon… is probably spatial awareness."
Isagi blinked. "Huh?"
"That instinct you have—it lets you 'see' the whole field. It's like a god's-eye view. You feel things others don't."
Seiichi stood and stretched.
"I believe you'll master it."
He walked toward the exit.
"Let's wash up and sleep. More games ahead."
Isagi stared after him, thoughts swirling.
Spatial awareness… a weapon only I can wield?
I'll figure it out. I have to.
Seiichi smiled faintly to himself.
Yoichi… right now, you're playing in the shadows I left behind.
But if you keep evolving…
You just might become worthy of being devoured.
And that would be fun.
