Well going on a carriage towards the capital was quite a bumpy ride. I don't really know why my intuition is telling me something is in the royal libary.
I mean it kinda seems to typical. Oh right suprisingly we live near the borders of the capital not directly inside it. Apparently my mother found it quite uncomfortable to be surrounded by high class people daily. Well they do have sticks up their asses.
Hence why most of our employees aren't from high ranking families. Along with our relations and friends. She also wanted us to be benevolent kings potentially and not those that discrimate through class. Something about not spoiling us. Like it would matter since were already born rich.
Anways not important, the capital hosts the best libary in the kjngdom. Funded by the king himself, hosting over 100 thousand books. To get in was a lengthy and costly process.
It contains many hidden secrets and ancient history. Though there is a section for books, containing regular information which is more in depth then typical libaries of course. Like geography, eitquette and culture.
Unique things about this library are the fact that all are non-fiction showing its seriousness or at least thats what the council claims.
Anyways more importantly, "how long more do we have to wait".
"In a while your highness, it would take roughly 10 minutes" the guard answered. He is a trained aura swordsmen. Not really sure about his rank though.
Surrounding the carriage were guards and along with hidden archer following us. How do I know about the hidden archer,... I'm not really sure something felt of I guess I mean no way you would onky have close ranged knights. Dealing with mages is a pain for aura users.
Wait a minute why are there so many power systems. Eh I guess thats diversity with all these races and magical stuff. Each race had their advantage, so I guess its fair to say there would be many different types of abilities. From what I know theres roughly 4... maybe 5 power systems sigh.... great just great, each kingdom was prominent using one system. Making it harder for them to attack eachother due to needing to divert many resources to countering each unique system. Although magic and aura was the most common throughout all the kingdoms. The other power systems made up with their strentghs and unique abilities.
Though it is still unknown which is the best or worse power system is. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages. Although... all power systems seem to be known, its not like theres another one right?. At least thats what I thought before... .
On the other hand our mid kingdom has a bit of everything. Making us appear quite threatening to some. But in reality due to this we are much more weaker and uncoordinated in some sense.
"Prince vermouth were here" the guards announced to me nervously. I felt a little bad though I honestly couldn't care as much due to my priorities.
Bruh... that mountain better exist lest I whoop someones metaphorical ass.
"Right make sure to guard the perimiter", I asked them.
"B-but your highness his majesty asked us to acompany you". The guard said nervously seemingly not wanting to incur my fathers wrath.
"Its one of the safest places in the country being heavily guarded with spells and magicians there no need to worry", I answered them. It was true, knowledge is power for most mages along with knowning and learning more abilities gives you to much of an advantage in some cases. Hence why its well guarded.
"R-right I suppose thats the case", the guard gave a nervous sigh.
Without any hesitation I entered the library after having the guards deal with the entrance fee. Wow its really something. For some reason my mind feels a bit numb ever since that vision. Its as if I'm missing something maybe some memory or knowledge on something.
Well whatever, lets a go. Oh nice found a book. Lets see a mountain called oraroboros. Nah no way sounds violent. Demon king tomb, nah to edgy. Lovers... ok yeah no what are these names. Mt Ebott yes thats perfec-
Without any warning my body felt a strange shaky sensation. I quickly turned only to see a knife heading straight towards me. Instinctively my head tilted, resulting in a slight graze on my cheek.
In an instant a shadow heads straight towards me. I can feel my heart beat. Oh god this dumbass is trying to cook me. Seriously is this how it ends I wondered.
Something else happened though, as if something surounded the shadowy figure it seemingly vanished into thin air. My left eye feels like it was on fire.
My body could feel a sense of exhaustion as if I had done something... but what exactly? , goddamn memory mystery. Did I finally have some power, was I special?.
"Prince Verouth!!" A voice shouted, startling me out of my thoughts.
"Are you alright a mage?". A libary mage asks seemingly alarmed, probably about what happened just now.
"Yes I am unharmed". I said, where was this bozo at isn't this a safe place did I really jinx it .
"Thank goodness, someone managed to bypass our detection barrier and enter undetected". The mage answered, with a sigh of relief. He seems to think that the target was someone else.
"Yeah yeah well lets get out of here shall we." As I try to put up a strong front, though my hand shivered slightly.
"Noticing it the mage put a reasuring smile." Of course your highness let us make haste I see you have already obtained your desired book." The mage quicly escorts me out on towards the exit.
"Your highness we must depart immediately", one of the nights said urgently, as they quickly surround me like some national security service.
The knights quickly rushed me into the carriage. Looking around to see if there were any threats to be seen or known. For some reason I couldn't sense the hidden archer thay followed us how strange.. .
Withe haste our carriage, made an exit from the capital aiming to get back to our kingdom as fast as possible.
However there was a lot of annoying traffic. As many nobles who used the libary rushed outside as well. Those guys really do have wonky looking carriages. Needing answers I investigate the book.
Flipping the page I read about Mount Ebbot date 201X. Suddenly my eyes feel hollow. As if they were gone feeling no weight towards them. Silence fills the world.
Slowly exitting the carriage only to see no mkvement at all. People, trees the wind air even stood still without movement. A burning sensation filled my right eye. It was ten times worser then before.
My hands reach towards my head hoping for it to bring some comfort. Well it really didn't that was stupid of me. Holding a scream, cause I aint a baby. A staggering exhaustion fills my body. I collaspse to the ground only to hear a mysterious but familiar voice.
"See you soon sans, wonder what kind of choice you'll make this time around".
With that the world went black.
