Chapter 11: The War of Public Opinion

The cooperation agreement between ShieldTech and Emily Greene gave Jack a temporary reprieve from worrying about the offshore account. While a deeper conspiracy still lurked beneath the surface, the immediate threat had to be dealt with first. With hard evidence in hand, he now had the means to dismantle Emily's hostile takeover plan entirely.

Yet Jack understood the brutal reality of Wall Street—truth alone wasn't enough. Power belonged to those who controlled the narrative, who could shape public perception. The Greene family had deep roots in the media world. A direct confrontation would be nearly impossible.

"Kevin, compile all the details from the ShieldTech agreement into a comprehensive report," Jack said, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking Manhattan's glittering skyline. His eyes burned with determination. "I want Emily Greene to feel the weight of public opinion turn against her."

"Understood, Jack," Kevin replied, already beginning the meticulous task of organizing the documents.

Jack knew that handing the evidence directly to the mainstream media would likely result in it being buried—or worse, twisted into an accusation that he had fabricated it. He needed a smarter strategy.

"I need you to contact some of the smaller gossip reporters here in New York," Jack said, dialing Isabella. "Tell them I have explosive insider news from Wall Street. Something they won't be able to ignore."

"No problem, Jack. This is right up my alley," Isabella replied with a playful tone. "But how do you plan to convince them? The Greenes have serious influence."

"I've got my ways," Jack said with a knowing smile.

The next day, several tabloid journalists filled Jack's office. They were seasoned veterans of Wall Street's rumor mill—men and women who lived for scandal, always ready to pounce on the next big story.

Jack didn't reveal the agreement immediately. Instead, he started with lighter topics—gossip, market trends, subtle hints dropped like breadcrumbs.

"Gentlemen and ladies," Jack began casually, "you've probably noticed the recent fluctuations in Ryan Group's stock price."

"Of course, Mr. Ryan," a short, stout reporter jumped in eagerly. "There are rumors going around that Emily Greene is trying to take over your company. Any truth to that?"

Jack shrugged, feigning indifference. "Wall Street runs deep. Some things aren't as simple as they seem."

"Are you saying there's something behind the scenes?" a sharp-eyed female journalist caught on quickly.

"There's always something behind the scenes," Jack smiled. "Let's just say… if you're looking for the truth, you might want to take a closer look at a company called ShieldTech."

The journalists exchanged confused glances.

"A cybersecurity firm?" one asked hesitantly.

"Exactly," Jack confirmed. "At least, that's what they claim to be."

He let the words hang in the air, giving them just enough bait to send them scrambling.

As expected, phones lit up, fingers flew across keyboards, and within minutes, every reporter was Googling ShieldTech.

Jack watched them work, knowing he'd done half the job already. Now, it was up to them to dig deeper.

And dig they did.

Over the next few days, negative reports about ShieldTech began appearing in minor publications. Though not explicitly naming Emily Greene, the implications were clear—suggesting a covert connection between the tech firm and the attempted hostile takeover of Ryan Group.

Like pebbles tossed into still water, these stories sent ripples through the financial world. Investor confidence wavered. Ryan Group's stock began to fall.

Emily Greene quickly realized the danger. She pulled every string she had to suppress the stories—but it was too late.

Now it was time for Jack to deliver the final blow.

He arranged for Kevin to anonymously leak the full cooperation agreement to major media outlets. Meanwhile, Isabella used her underground network to spread damaging rumors about Emily's involvement with ShieldTech.

By morning, the headlines exploded.

"Emily Greene Accused of Hiring Hackers to Steal Trade Secrets!"

"Ryan Group Under Attack: Inside the Corporate Espionage Scandal!"

Investors panicked. Stock prices plummeted. Emily's once-pristine reputation crumbled overnight.

She appeared on television, denying everything, claiming she was the victim of a smear campaign. But no one believed her anymore.

Jack sat in his office, watching her desperate press conference unfold on screen. Her face was pale, her composure shattered.

"Emily Greene," he murmured, a cold smile playing on his lips, "this is only the beginning."

But Jack wasn't naïve. He knew Emily wasn't acting alone. This was just the first phase of a much larger conflict.

Just when he thought the tide had turned in his favor, an unexpected call came in.

"Jack," Kevin's voice was tense, "several major news outlets have suddenly pulled their negative coverage of Emily. And they're doing it aggressively—like someone's applying pressure from above."

Jack frowned. The reach of the Greene family was proving formidable. Even powerful media companies feared crossing them.

"I understand," Jack replied calmly. "Keep monitoring the situation. Let me know which other outlets might be affected."

Taking a deep breath, Jack steeled himself. The war of public opinion was far from over. Emily's counterattack had begun.

He needed a new strategy—one that would not only destroy her completely but also expose the deeper forces pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Looking out over the glowing cityscape, his gaze hardened with resolve. He believed in justice—not the kind written in law books, but the kind forged in the fire of truth and courage. And he would use every ounce of his intellect and strength to protect what was his.

Meanwhile, in a luxurious office high above Manhattan, Emily Greene hurled her coffee cup against the wall in fury.

"Jack Ryan…" she spat, her voice shaking with rage. "You haven't seen the last of me. I will make you pay. I'll tear you apart."

She knew the damage was severe—her reputation ruined, her plans destroyed. But she wouldn't stop. Not now. Not ever.

She would stop at nothing to see Jack Ryan brought to his knees.
