Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 8: TUNNEL of the DEAD

Location: Abandon Subway System, Sector 13, Metro City Underground

The Descent

The entrance to Tunnel 13 was buried under collapsed highways and rotten steel.

Hridoy (checking thermal scans):

"There's… too many heat signatures. Layers deep."

Zara (nervously):

"These tunnels were closed for years. Whatever's down there… it's not human anymore."

Siddik (to the team):

"Mission's simple. Sweep, secure, survive."

Fakhrul (tightening his gloves):

"No backup. No second chance. HUNTERS – move out."

They enter.

Tunnel of Terror

The air is damp, thick with rot.

Kawser:

"I hate tunnels. No exits. No air. Only screams."

Suddenly – a piercing screech echoes, followed by a distant, rhythmic stomp.

Zombies – not walking, but crawling on ceilings and walls – leap into ambush.

Rasel (yelling):

"INCOMING!"

The battle begins.

Zombies move unnaturally fast, some with grotesque limbs and bone spikes. The tunnels light up in fire, steel, and blood.

The Insane Team Fight

Fakhrul leads the front, smashing undead skulls like a juggernaut.

Kawser fights like a storm, flipping over wreckage, dual-wielding shotguns.

Rasel dances between shadows, slicing necks and eyes with surgical strikes.

Zara sets traps and bombs behind every corner, guiding the team's route.

Hridoy operates remote turrets from his wrist-pad, covering all angles with pinpoint blasts.

Siddik uses his GravCore gauntlet, pulling zombies into walls or crushing them mid-air.

Tayeb, calm and controlled, rips through monsters like a war machine, protecting anyone who falters.

Kawser (laughing wildly):

"This is madness! But DAMN it feels good!

Zara (grinning, sweaty):

"Remind me to never bet against us again."

Mayhem Begins

HUNTERS enter the dark, decaying tunnel system,

Suddenly, swarms of mutated zombies pour from grates and tunnels.

Tayeb (yelling):

"They're everywhere!"

Rasel (dual blades flashing):

"Good. I was getting bored."

Kawser:

"Shoot, slice, scream – repeat!"

Fakhrul leads the charge, Hridoy drops turrets, and Siddik fighting like a storm, flinging zombies with gravity bursts.

The Worm Behemoth

In the center of the subway pit, the monstrous zombie-worm beast attacks.

The team unleashes everything. Explosions rock the tunnels. The creature screeches in rage.

Siddik charges for the core, leaping above it. But just before he lands the final blow–A spike–armed zombie impales him from behind.

He destroys the beast with a last blast, but collapses.

HQ Shock

Nafisa, monitoring from HQ, hears the screaming comms.

Zara (through comms):

"Siddik's down! He's not moving!"

Nafisa (frozen, whispering):

"No… this can't be him…"

The screen goes chaotic.

Return to Base

The doors to HQ burst open.

Tayeb carries Siddik's unconscious body, wounded and pale.

Nafisa (rushing in):

"What happened!? What the hell happened to him!?"

Fakhrul (low tone):

"He took a hit… protected all of us. Got stabbed by a crawler mid-air."

Hridoy (removing his gear):

"He ended the mission. But it cost him."

Tayeb gently lays Siddik in his private room. The team gathers silently, waiting.

Nafisa sits beside Siddik, trembling. Her hands hold his tightly.

Nafisa (softly, tearful):

"You idiot… if you die, I swear I'll drag you back myself…"

She leans down and hugs him.

Suddenly–

Siddik opens one eye… and smirks.

Siddik:

"Missed me that much, huh?"

Nafisa (freeze):

"YOU–!"

She punches his chest lightly, furious and emotional.

Nafisa (gives him a tight hug):

"You pretended to be dead?! I was about to–I thought you were– I HATE YOU!"

Siddik (also hugs her):

"Love you too."

Rasel (from the door):

"Okay… now this is officially awkward."

Hridoy (smiling):

"They've been like this since childhood. It's… tradition."

Rasel (stunned):

"Wait, what? That explains everything."

Unknown Underground

Darkness. The screen flickers with static and battle footage. Dozens of zombie variants displayed, marching… evolving. A figure watches, cloaked in shadow. His voice is calm, but filled with venom.

Unknown voice (low, cold):

"They celebrate… like it's over."

They've only survived the first round of the game."

He steps closer to the screen showing Siddik's gauntlet firing.

"He… he gave me the pain. Now it's my time. I will take everything from him.

Prepare the next phase. Burn their hope to the ground. Soon the world will remember who truly commands the dead."
