Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Crash

A few minutes later, Cleo made her way back into the classroom, and she immediately took her seat behind Camille.

She was about to speak to Camille but the teacher made her way in, not giving her any chance to do so.

"Good morning students." The teacher greeted them with a smile, and the students returned the greeting, however, tiredly.

The teacher chuckled, "I am sure you are all prepared for tomorrow's exam, this is the day you have all been working towards, and I believe you'll do well."

"Teacher, why are we in school today when the exams start tomorrow? Shouldn't we be at home?" One of the students complained with a groan, and the others echoed after him.

"Well, you have to check your time and venue for your exam, and it was sent to the school. So this is the reason for you being in school today," Teacher Adams replied, and the students groaned.

"I had thought there would be a change in our set, but the school doesn't want to evolve," the students murmured among themselves, voicing out their complaints.

Shayla wasn't left out as she complained to Camille, saying, "the school could have chosen the digital way, but they didn't bother to do so, and it is an elite school!"

Camille laughed and suggested, "perhaps they want to uphold past traditions, who knows?"

"At the expense of our rest? They should do better," Shayla pouted with folded arms.

"Don't complain," Camille grinned, and the pout on Shayla's face deepened.

"That's enough!" Teacher Adams yelled, and the class restored its law and order.

"The list is up, you can check it out at the announcement board, that's what I came to inform you. Good luck students," Teacher Adams smiled at them before leaving the classroom.

A few students rushed out of the class, but Camille and Shayla stayed back.

"We will check later," Camille stated, and Shayla nodded in agreement.

"I really hope we are in the same venue, and also at the same time," Shayla wished, and Camille chuckled.

But she sighed. She also wished the same, but in her past life, she and Shalya were not together for the exam. There was no way it would be changing in this life as well.

Instead, she and Cleo were the ones who were posted to the same venue, but she (Camille) was unable to write the exam because she wanted to please her brothers.

She let out a sigh, ashamed of how foolish she had been in her past in her life. How could she give up her goals because of her siblings?

It didn't make any sense to her. But it was all in the past, she should not think about horrible experiences anymore.

"What are you thinking about?" Shayla's question snapped Camille out of her reverie.

"Nothing, shall we go check?" Camille changed the topic since she was unable to provide an answer.

Shayla noticed that she didn't wish to talk about it, and hence, she didn't dwell on it. She wasn't the type of person who would pester her friend for an answer.

As soon as they left the class, they bumped into Cleo who had a smug smile on her face.

Camille raised her eyebrows seeing that expression on her face. She wondered what had happened for her to have such a look on her face. But she wasn't interested in knowing what it was.

"Better watch your back, you might have had the last laugh this morning, but you should be careful," Cleo threatened, causing the two to stop in their tracks.

Camille scoffed, turning to look at Cleo before saying, "I'd be waiting for you, don't forget to not hold back."

Cleo sneered at the confident look on Camille's face before walking into the classroom.

"What does she mean by that?" Shayla asked with a confused look.

"Don't bother about her, she is spewing trash, let's not worry about her." Camille wasn't concerned about Cleo's threats.

There was nothing she could do, and even if she tried to hurt her, there was no way she (Camille) wouldn't try to fight back.

She wasn't the weak Camille anymore. Rather, she was smarter, and would not allow anyone to walk all over her.

In her past life, she made her choices out of love, but this life, she would put herself in top priority.

Shayla smiled seeing the confident look in her eyes, and she felt an immense pride in her heart.

"What happened to you?" Camille noticed that she was silent, so she turned to look at her.

"Nothing, let's go," Shalya replied, and they went to the announcement board.

After checking it, just as Camille had thought, it was still the same venue as it was in her past life.

Shayla pouted as she looked at Camille who sighed.

"I guess we are not meant to be together while writing the exam," she said, and Shayla's shoulders dropped.

"I was looking forward to being in the same venue with you," Shayla complained.

"But there is nothing we can do," Camille replied, and Shayla nodded, disappointment evident in her eyes.

"Anyways, have a smile on your face, I'm sure you'd do well." Camille stated, a firm smile on her face.

She trusted Shayla. After all, she had come out as one of the top three best students in the entire country in her past life. There was no doubt that Shayla would do it in this life again.

______________

After a while, Camille's driver showed up after she had sent him a message.

"You look happy today, it is the first I have seen you happy over the past few days," John m the driver commented when he noticed the smile on her face.

"Do I look happy?" Camille asked, the smile on her face widening.

"Of course, the smile on your face is sincere. Honestly, I want you to continue being happy," John replied, and it was only then Camille realized she had a smile on her face.

She looked at the driver, and the corner of her eyes crinkled due to excitement. He was the first one, apart from Shayla who commented on her change.

"Continue smiling this way, it suits you better," John requested, and Camille nodded.

The atmosphere turned silent, but all of a sudden, there was a loud sound. Their car had just had a collision with another one.
