"…Hereby, you may either accept your defeat and acknowledge Mei Terumi as your new leader… or prepare to be crushed alongside your fallen Mizukage."
A heavy silence followed Naruto's declaration. Murmurs rippled through the surviving Mist shinobi as they looked around the battlefield—scorched, flooded, and broken.
They had all seen it.
This one shinobi—Naruto Namikaze—had vanished through their forces like a ghost, obliterated entire squads just to reach Yagura, and then defeated the Three-Tails Jinchūriki as if it were nothing. One by one, the Mist shinobi dropped their weapons. Kunai, swords, and scrolls clattered to the ground.
Mei Terumi stood still, eyes fixed on Naruto. She could hardly believe it—he had just defeated Yagura, the tyrant who ruled Kirigakure with an iron fist, and who had slaughtered her comrades for years.
Naruto turned toward Itachi, who had been watching quietly the entire time. He gave him a small nod. Itachi, understanding the signal, touched the brim of his cloak, and in a swirl of black feathers, he vanished, reappearing beside Naruto. The two disappeared together, leaving the stunned rebel and loyalist forces to process what had just happened.
Far away, in a hidden chamber—
Obito Uchiha slammed his fist into the wall, cracking it.
"Damn you. Damn you, Naruto Namikaze!" he roared, his Sharingan spinning wildly in the dark.
Everything had gone wrong. His control over Yagura was broken. He had underestimated Naruto—not once, but twice. First, when the boy was eight, and again now. Back then, he hadn't killed him out of fear. And now… now he had just lost one of his Jinchūriki.
"It's going to be a lot harder to get the Three-Tails back now," he muttered under his breath, his frustration boiling.
Back at the battlefield—
Yagura lay in a daze, his body broken but alive. His eyes fluttered open to see Itachi Uchiha staring down at him.
He blinked once.
Twice.
"Who are you people…? Where am I?"
He tried to rise into a fighting stance, but his body collapsed under the weight of his wounds. Agony tore through him. Itachi glanced back at Naruto, who gave a small nod.
Understanding, Itachi began to question Yagura, slowly unraveling the truth of what had transpired. The interrogation wouldn't be detailed here, but one thing became clear:
Yagura had no memory of his crimes.
A short time later—
Yagura was on his knees, weeping.
Tears fell freely down his face as the truth hit him like a thunderclap.
"How… how could I have done this… to my own people…?" he choked. "Bloodline or not… they were part of Kiri…"
The crimes, the purges, the executions—he had been the hand that carried them out. Mei Terumi, who had spent her life hating him, stood stunned.
She clenched her fists in fury. For years, she had blamed him. For her fallen friends. For the suffering of countless clans. For the blood-soaked history of Kirigakure.
And now?
Now she found out—the man she had hated was never in control of his own actions… it shook her to the core.
Someone else had been using Yagura like a puppet—just to exact revenge on Kirigakure.
Mei clenched her fists tightly at the realization, her eyes burning with a mix of anger and sorrow. Naruto simply shook his head.
"So? What's your decision now, Mizukage? Seems like you've been promoted earlier than I expected."
Mei looked down and sighed.
"I... I don't know. Not yet."
Naruto shrugged.
"Well, it's not our problem. You'll have to deal with it at your own pace." He then turned toward Yagura. "But remember… that man—the one who manipulated you—he'll come again. Hopefully next time, you'll be strong enough to resist him."
Yagura nodded silently, his expression a mixture of shame and determination.
Naruto turned back to Mei.
"So then, Mizukage—have you signed the alliance scroll?"
Mei gave a faint nod and handed over the scroll.
"Yes, it's done."
"Excellent," Naruto said with a small smirk, glancing toward Itachi. Itachi gave a subtle nod.
"Of course, Taichō. We've completed our part."
Naruto turned to leave.
"Well then, we'll be taking our leave."
Mei quickly spoke up, "Wait! You just arrived not long ago. Why don't you stay and rest a while?"
Naruto shook his head. "Nah, can't do that. We've got more missions to complete."
And with that, he vanished from the office in an instant. Mei stared at the empty space where he had stood, stunned, but eventually nodded in quiet understanding.
Elsewhere—
"So, what do you think, Kaijō?" Itachi asked casually. "Did that entertain you?"
Naruto glanced sideways at him.
"Not really."
Itachi gave a soft chuckle. "Well, it'll have to do for now."
He had seen the kind of chaos Naruto could stir with ease—conflict followed him like a shadow.
To be honest, Naruto was bored—bored out of his mind. The power he possessed… it was almost unfair. Itachi had seen it firsthand. Though he had once been Naruto's sensei, it hadn't taken long before Naruto surpassed him completely.
Once Naruto joined the ANBU, he had risen like a comet—instantly becoming its brightest star. Within months, he became a captain. Now, the elders were even considering making him the general of the ANBU.
But Itachi already knew what Naruto would say.
He'd refuse.
Why?
Because even ANBU had become boring.
The missions, the assassinations, the strategy—none of it truly thrilled him anymore. Not with the overwhelming power he held. There was no one left to compete with. No challenge that pushed him.
Itachi sometimes liked to imagine that the Hokage could give Naruto a good fight—but deep down, he knew even that was just wishful thinking.
