The game [DHFTW] has two versions: Online and the game's original storyline mode. The online version allows players to use the characters from the main game. This is designed so players don't get bored or quit the game entirely.
Besides the main character, the game includes other playable characters so players can choose their favorites. The online version focuses on an Open World system, allowing players to freely explore the world. It also includes features like PvP, guild wars, and more.
In this online world, we also get to see players' real personalities—whether friendly or sarcastic. But that's not what I'm going to talk about right now. What I want to focus on is a boss in the game [DHFTW], the Centaur. This boss is inspired by Greek mythology and has been featured in many games. In DHFTW, the Centaur doesn't appear in the main game but is instead a mini dungeon boss exclusive to the online version.
About 75% of players struggle to defeat this monster. Why 75%? Because that includes regular players and even hackers—yes, even cheaters struggle. That's thanks to the advanced system in this game that instantly bans and deletes accounts that cheat.
I've defeated every boss in this game using all types of characters—heroic or villainous—because I love to experiment with different ideas. That's how I ended up earning the "Anomaly Player" achievement. Sounds silly, I know, but I've beaten the Centaur so many times with different characters.
"And now I'll defeat you again—so prepare yourself."
Ace reached out his hand to Ren.
"Let's finish this monster off with one blow!"
"Wow, I didn't expect you to be this fiery and full of energy, Ace. Maybe Mr. Noah made the right choice after all," Ren said with a smile.
The two of them combined their powers, and in an instant, Ren transformed into a legendary sword—a samurai blade, a katana.
Caiber watched in awe, surprised and impressed, cheering them on.
"Come on, you two! Defeat that creature and save this continent from the terror haunting its people!"
Both of them smiled.
"Yes! Of course, we'll save this continent!"
Ace and Ren, now ready, charged at the Centaur.
"A POWER OF LIGHT!"
A slash that cuts through the darkness
Ace dashed forward and slashed straight ahead.
The attacks connected, and the Centaur, smiling at first, coughed up blood, then collapsed and disappeared into thin air.
Ren and Caiber felt overjoyed and relieved to have defeated the beast. Suddenly, Ren, back in her human form, hugged Caiber tightly.
"Waaah, Caiber! Did you see that? Ace and I totally sliced it down! Hehehe!" Ren exclaimed, unaware she was making Caiber uncomfortable.
"I'm glad it's dead, but… could you let go now? I can't breathe," Caiber said, struggling a little.
Realizing her behavior, Ren quickly pulled back, blushing with embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Ace stood quietly, lost in thought about the monster they just fought.
(Wait… was it me being too strong? Or was it thanks to Ren? Or maybe I'm just that good from having defeated it so many times in the game with different characters?)
(Still, I won—even though the world I'm in now is hardcore difficulty...)
Lost in his thoughts, Ace didn't realize Ren and Caiber watching him with concern.
Caiber was about to approach him, but Ren stopped him and whispered a plan.
They decided to prank Ace by surprising him—hoping to catch a funny reaction from his face.
"Hehehe, won't this be fun? Let's see his silly face when we scare him!"
"Hmm, I feel kind of bad doing it… but I also want to see his expression," Caiber replied with a gentle smile, making Ren slightly annoyed because it didn't match her excitement.
As they were preparing their little prank, they suddenly noticed Ace was gone.
This immediately sent them into a panic.
"Oh no! He's gone! Did he find out about our plan to prank him? This sucks!"
"But I also can't sense his presence… this is bad. What should we do?" Ren said, panicking.
Caiber tried to calm her down.
"Don't overreact, Ren. Maybe Ace is just playing hide-and-seek with us."
Ren nearly cried, terrified that she had done something wrong and been abandoned again. She became hysterical, making it hard for Caiber to calm her.
"Hic… hic… I didn't mean anything bad… I should've watched my words… hic… hic…"
"It's okay, Ren. It was an accident. I'm sure Ace will turn up soon. He's not someone who gives up that easily," Caiber reassured her.
Hearing this comforted Ren, and she slowly stopped crying.
"You're right. He's not that weak. Alright, let's go look for him!"
Ren was once again fired up, energized by Caiber's encouragement.
"That's more like the Ren I know, haha!"
"We've only known each other for a day, though, Caiber."
"Ah, really? Sorry if I got too familiar too fast. But we don't have much time—let's go find Ace."
As they brainstormed ways to track Ace down, a strong tremor suddenly shook the ground. They turned toward the fortress gate.
The gate slowly creaked open, and to their shock…
"Huh? What's going on? Isn't that—"
"Hey Ren, look! That's—"
Before they could finish their thoughts, they saw someone standing beyond the gate. It was Ace.
"Eh?! Ace?! You were inside all along?!" they both exclaimed, stunned.
With a calm smile, Ace replied as if nothing had happened:
"Now then, let's move. They've been waiting for a while."
Still confused, Ren and Caiber glared at him in frustration after all the worrying they'd just been through.
