After 3 more rounds of clearing the dungeon chambers on floor 2, I finally hit level 3. Once again, the whole process takes around 2 hours to jump a level.
[Name: Leon Maxwell]
[Race: Sky Sovereign]
[Level: 3 XP 6/169]
[Primary Class: Fighter lvl 3]
[Secondary Class
-Sky Captain lvl 3
- Resident lvl 1 ]
[HP: 120/120]
[MP: 100/100]
[Strength: 12]
[Vitality: 12]
[Agility: 12]
[Intelligence: 10]
[Wisdom: 10]
[Unused Skill Points: 6]
[Unused Attribute Points: 10]
After searching around my interface for a short while, I discover that [Attribute points] can increase my base attribute score, and [Skill points] can be used to unlock individual skills within classes.
Hitting level 3 leaves me with 10 attribute points, and I am unsure if I should invest them all into the same stats or spread them across the board.
After consulting Kaelin, I also discover that each level in [Vitality] provides 10 HP, and each level in [Wisdom] provides 10 MP.
[Strength] is pretty self-explanatory; the higher it is, the physically stronger I am. I can hit harder and deal more damage.
[Vitality] is a two-pronged stat. Firstly, the higher my vitality, the higher my HP, so investing in that makes total sense from that perspective. Secondly, [Vitality] also provides me with my defensive skills. The higher my vitality, the more resistance to attacks I have. If you have a high enough statistic, a full-force slash from a steel sword could theoretically be nullified just by your body's natural defenses alone.
[Agility] is also self-explanatory. Agility is speed. How fast I can move my body depends entirely on my agility.
[Intelligence] determines the power of magical spells, but as I don't have a magical class, it is basically useless to me right now. Maybe in the future I can unlock one somehow. I will check with Kaelin about that.
[Wisdom] is my mana stat. For activating my normal skills, it isn't a big deal, but if I ever learn spells, it will be extremely important.
I need to start managing these attribute points correctly. I would love to unlock some kind of magic class, but for now, I only need to worry about [Strength], [Vitality], and [Agility].
The question is, what do I do now? I should not have hit level 3 this fast, and pretty soon, I am going to start killing things that share EXP with Kaelin. This means I am going to need to figure out what to do about revealing my [Sky Sovereign] race and my [Sky Captain] class.
The way I see it, I have 3 options.
Option 1: Pretend I haven't levelled up, and continue on floor 2 for a little while longer.
Option 2: Tell Kaelin a half-truth that might convince her about my fast leveling, and then explain I am level 3 and ready to move down another floor.
Option 3: Tell her the truth about my situation, and then hope that she accepts it.
Honestly, I already know what I am going to do. The contract that I have with her as a member of my crew should protect my privacy. Also, if I intend to make her into one of my women, lying to her is basically no good.
While resting on the stone floor and catching my breath, I turn to my lovely gunner, resolving to reveal a little bit of myself to her.
'Kaelin, don't freak out about how fast I did it, but I just hit level 3.'
Silence and an open mouth. That is the response I receive. She keeps quiet, doesn't shout, but her mouth hangs open with sheer surprise.
'When we get back to the ship, I will tell you the particulars, but for now, please understand that I need to keep this quiet. I don't know how people will react to this if they find out.'
She continues to observe me, her mouth closing back up. After staring at me for 5 minutes in silence, she finally replies. 'Ok, I guess you have some secret you can't share here, but why did you tell me this now?'
'I am ready to move down a floor, and I don't want to keep secrets from my crewmates if it is possible. I've decided that every time a new crewmate signs an employment contract, I will reveal some details to them. Also, how can I lie to a woman I have decided will be in my Harem?'
'When we get back to the ship, I have so many questions. But, for now, I will keep them to myself, Captain. I must say that I feel happy that you felt you could confide in me. I won't say anything to anybody.'
'Thank you, Kaelin. I will answer all of your questions tonight. For now, let's make our way to the 3rd floor.'
'Ok, sure, we can do that. The monsters on the 3rd floor are probably going to be easy for you, too, I imagine. You will be dealing with flame scorpions. They look like ordinary scorpions except they are bright red, quite large, and can shoot fire from their stingers. If you manage to hit level 4, then we will take on the floor boss to finish out the day.'
I nod along with her explanation as we descend the stairs to the 3rd level. I am very happy that she agreed not to react rashly. I will have a lot to explain to her tonight, so for now, we should focus on the dungeon.
The pattern of the layout repeats as the 3rd floor is equal to the first and second in layout, however, the number of people here is ever so slightly smaller than the previous floors. Great! Our wait time will be less.
The first 2 chambers that we enter each have a bile rat inside, I dispatch them easily enough, and find myself entering the 3rd chamber.
The mist at the other end of the chamber begins to swirl in the pattern that I have become more than familiar with throughout today. My excitement builds as I realize that this new opponent, is the creature introduced on this floor. Flame Scorpion.
