Chapter 6 - Comrades

Several days had passed since Alexander's revenge, but he wasn't satisfied. That man had killed his family, but he felt he wasn't the only one responsible. He needed to find everyone who orchestrated this evil plan.

He hadn't been to work in a while, and worse yet, he hadn't slept in his own bed for a while. Luckily, he had been staying at Lucía's house these past few days, the beautiful stranger who had offered her help.

"Good morning!" Lucía said loudly as she opened her bedroom door without asking. "It's time to go meet everyone else."

The two of them got into her car and began a long drive. After two hours of driving, they reached their destination. A small garage in a dirty, deserted alley.

"Is this it?" he asked, confused.

"Yes, this is our headquarters."

"You said you were part of an organization. I thought it was something bigger and more luxurious," the boy said, a little disappointed.

Entering the garage, he saw a display case with several strange artifacts.

"Magic artifacts?" he asked.

"Yep."

Looking up, he saw a teenager lazily reclining in a chair. Also to the left was a table with food and drinks, where four more people were sitting.

"That lazy guy in the chair is Josh," Lucía explained. "And those eating and chatting are the other members. Marco and Gabriel, whom you already know; the black-haired girls are Kate and Jenny; and the other one is Derek."

"There are only seven of you?"

"That's right," the girl clarified, before explaining the members' powers. Josh has the power of Thor, Marcus of Horus, Gabriel of Poseidon, Kate of Freya, Jenny of Aphrodite, and Derek of Hades.

"I want to understand one thing," Alexander said, confused. "All this stuff about the gods... How come they all exist from every mythology?"

Lucia sighed a little, as if she was tired of answering the same question over and over again.

"A few chosen ones know this, but the gods were created by humans, not vice versa. When humans didn't understand the sun, they felt the need to attribute a being to it; they couldn't accept that it was just a star, and that's how the first sun gods were born. This happens with sleep, death, water, etc. So much energy gave these concepts a life of their own and turned them into gods."

"Hmm... I think I understand what you're getting at..."

"I doubt it very much... I'm just explaining it briefly. Another day when we have more time, we'll sit down and I'll tell you more."

Derek, one of the boys at the table, stood up and walked over to Alexander.

"Hi!" he greeted. "Nice to meet you, I'm Derek. I'm a Hades bearer. We look a lot alike, I think... We both possess dark gods, feared by those who don't understand the darkness."

"What's wrong with this one?" Alexander whispered in Lucía's ear.

Lucía couldn't hold back her laughter any longer and began to laugh out loud.

"HaHaHaHa—you'll get used to it."
