Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

It covered the over 40 metres distance in less than a second, it tried to bite him, it huge maw wide enough to swallow half of him whole closed with a bang but by that time he had already jumped backwards.

It chased after him, he casted a barrier right infront of him. With a huge bang it rammed the barrier with it head. The shockwave from the collision sent Snow flying with a squak.

The barrier did not break nor even crack. He watched this beast with a calm face. It much stronger than most rank E creatures I have met, he thought.

He swung both his hands forward, the two disks flew on either side of the barrier. The bear raised it paws to block the flying disks. They collided with it claws.

They grinded at the claws for a couple of seconds with a grating sound, sparks flew and they were sent flying backwards, he willed them back to him.

Not a stretch was on the claws but the disks were unaffected either. The two realised that taking down the other party would not be easy.

It stood on it hind legs once more. He watched as it form towered over him. It crimson claws glowed with orange light, heat simmered from them.

He jumped backwards before it could attack. It attack was fast, incredibly so, he could barely follow the swipe with his eyes. He thought about using heavenly eyes but decided against it.

Although he could barely follow the attacks, he can still follow them, using heavenly eyes would be a waste of mana. The only reason he would use it would be to check it system interface.

However doing so in this situation would be deadly. He was foolish for not doing that earlier but it was too late for that, he cannot afford any distractions. His barrier shattered like glass.

He sent the disks flying at it, one after the other. It was able to deflect the first with it right paw but the second one hit it right in the arm.

Even though he sent it at full speed it was only able to draw blood from the bears arm without dealing much damage. A wound of this level would not even leave a scar.

He frowned as his disks came back to him. Fire balls came flying at him again. He casted multiple barriers and blocked all of those attacks.

The explosions caused smoke to cover the entire area. He could no longer see the bear, as he was looking around he felt breathing behind him.

He turned around and looked up. Red glowing eyes met his black eyes. He could swear the bear grinned as it swung it claw at him.

He hastily casted a barrier with porcupine like spikes infront of him. The bear retracted it claws at the last second. Clever, he said with a grin.

They exchanged blows multiple times in a few seconds. His heart was now pounding, he felt it, excitement, the same excitement he felt when he faced that wolf, although he doesn't remember what happened after that.

His barriers could hold for a while against this creatures flaming claws but it strength was so ridiculous that they broke a few hits later.

He did not even bother pulling out his sword, he knew that would be useless here, unless he learnt real swordsmanship. As their fight continued he noticed something he did not before.

This thing was using martial art, martial arts even better than his own. What the hell, this is not right, you should not be able to use martial arts.

He said with visible surprise on his face which was rare, of course his eyes still looked dead but his voice felt more human this time.

The bear smiled, the bear actually smiled. His heart pounded even harder, his breathing became heavier and he started laughing, this thing is awesome. He sent his disks flying at it again.

They were fast, like really fast yet it still dodged them. With a flicker it disappeared and appeared right behind him. As his barrier was coming into place a kick shattered it and landed on his chest.

To be more exact it landed on his entire torso due to how large it back paw was. With a boom he was sent flying, he flew faster than sound, the trees blurred besides him.

He collided with and shattered a giant boulder and skidded on the ground for over a hundred metres before coming to a stop. His chest had caved in, if it was not for the barely constructed barrier his organs might've busted.

He laughed out loud and almost chocked on his blood. I did not expect this, I did not expect this at all, he said excitedly. As he lay there gazing at the sky, his heart pounded like a drum, his thoughts became slower and his eyes started changing.

A cold wet tongue licked his cheek, he turned and looked at Snow who had a worried look. Squak, thank buddy, I don't know what was happening there, he said as he stood up, his eyes returning to normal.

The bear was walking slowly toward him. Each of it steps measured, it shoulders rose and fell when it walked, like those of a bull, it fangs in display with it cruel grin and it claws gleamed with heat like a hot knife.

It best you stand back, things will get rough, he said to Snow who squaked and ran towards the trees. He took a stance, a white greenish light covered his body healing his wounds within seconds.

He could see the surprise from the bears eyes. You did not expect me to heal myself did you? He asked it with a smile. It roared and ran towards him.

He placed multiple barriers infront of himself. Flames covered the creatures body and it rammed itself on the barrier. Flames rose to the sky, within a few seconds it had broken through the wall of barriers.

He sent the two disk flying at it, it did not bother dodging. They shattered upon collision but not before drawing blood each. It roared and it wounds were immediately cauterized by the flames.

He drew two more disks, it arrived infront of him and started swinging it claws at him. It movements looked clumsy but they were anything but.

Each of swings cut of his path of retreat forcing him to fight it in close combat. As he barely dodged it attacks, he sent his disks flying, cutting it multiple times.

Although one might think he was winning as he was not the one getting hit more often he knew otherwise. Firstly he had a feeling this thing was holding back and secondly, a single one of it claw swipes would be deadly.

Although he landed more hits they barely left any meaningful wounds. They were mere scratches to this thing. His disks had shattered and he was only left with one.

Ofcourse he could create more but he would rather retreat from this fight instead. He saw no way he could beat this thing with his current abilities.

SNOW, he shouted, a squak followed his shout and the bear paused for a split second and that was all he needed. He stretched his hand and a tiny blue ball made of pure barrier magic appeared.

The ball expanded and covered the bear as it stood still, by the time it came to be it was already within the barrier sphere. He poured as much mana as he could on the sphere making it as durable as he could in that short moment.

It would take the bear a while to get out of it. Snow landed in his shoulder and he turned around and ran. He acknowledged he was not strong enough to kill this thing with his fire power.
