Chapter 147 - Marshadow Overpowered Abilities

Mythical Pokemon are incredibly rare, sometimes grouped with or classified as Legendary Pokemon.

Marshadow is one of them.

Aside from Marshadow, other Mythical Pokemon include Jirachi, Celebi, Manaphy, Victini and more.

Most Mythical Pokemon appear as key characters in Pokemon movies. The Ghost/Fighting-type combination is also exceptionally rare and highly practical.

If Akira remembered correctly, currently only Annihilape and Marshadow possessed both of these attributes.

Marshadow was a humanoid Pokemon, seemingly composed of smoky gray shadows, with facial features resembling a helmet. The top of the helmet had two curved horns, with a small horn between the ears.

Its eyes were orange-red with yellow pupils, each eye marked by a yellow oval shape above it.

Around its neck was a collar that continuously emitted smoke, with each foot wrapped in shadows.

Pokedex Ability activated!

Name: Marshadow

Ability: Technician

Type: Ghost, Fighting

Strength: SS

Moves: Shadow Punch, Shadow Sneak, Copycat, Drain Punch, Close Combat

SS-rank strength!

This was the first SS-rank Pokemon he had obtained!

Akira had no objections to Marshadow reaching SS rank, in fact, he even felt it was somewhat low.

After all, Marshadow was a Mythical Pokemon.

Mythical creatures were somewhat different from Legendary ones. If one had to classify their strength using the tiers of Legendary Pokemon, most Mythical creatures would fall under the category of secondary Legendaries.

Of course, Mythicals like Shaymin naturally didn't belong in that group.

Thus, Marshadow could roughly be considered a secondary Legendary-tier Pokemon.

As "gods" of the Pokemon world, very few of them were simple!

Their abilities far exceeded human imagination!

From this perspective, the gap between S rank and SS rank was much larger than he had anticipated!

But it made sense—the difference between A rank and S rank was already vast and the gap between S rank and SS rank was even more unimaginable.

At this level, sheer numbers were completely useless.

While a large group of A+ rank could overwhelm an S- rank through sheer quantity, no amount of S+ rank could pose even the slightest threat to an SS- rank!

This was absolute domination!

Tyranitar current experience points also served as proof.

After successfully advancing to S+ rank, Tyranitar new experience bar appeared.

The amount of experience required to reach the next stage was practically endless—an absolutely colossal figure.

Just looking at it filled one with a sense of helplessness.

The gap was simply too vast.

Even after Mega Evolving, Tyranitar strength likely wouldn't reach SS- rank, only hovering between S+ rank and SS- rank.

But Akira wasn't disappointed by this—instead, he grew even more excited.

The harder it was to reach SS rank, the stronger his Marshadow was!

Judging by this, even in the Dark Continent, very few could achieve such strength.

After all, this was the renowned Mythical creature, yet comparable to a second class Legendary Pokemon.

At the same time, Akira noticed something unusual.

Despite not having imposed any Restriction and Vow, Marshadow full information had already been revealed.

This was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

After some thought, Akira concluded that Restriction and Vow likely had no effect on Legendary Pokemon. To be safe, he still applied Restriction and Vow to Marshadow.

The final result was as he expected—Marshadow strength remained unchanged at SS rank.

Clearly, as a Legendary Pokemon, Restriction and Vow had no effect on Marshadow.

But Akira was already satisfied.

His strongest combat power had instantly leaped from S+ rank to SS rank.

Marshadow had become his strongest Pokemon yet!

The difference wasn't just an extra letter—the gap between them was too vast to put into words and this was only in terms of raw strength.

Marshadow also possessed an extremely unique exclusive ability.

Marshadow could slip into an opponent shadow, mimicking their movements and strength while understanding their emotions.

In the process of imitation, it would grow even stronger than the original.

Because it never revealed itself in front of humans, it remained undiscovered for a very long time.

The specific manifestation of this is Marshadow signature move—Spectral Thief!

[Spectral Thief]: Sneaks into the enemy shadow to attack and can steal their stat-boosting effects.

This Spectral Thief first steals the opponent stat boosts before attacking.

Not only does it use the enemy strength to strengthen its own attack, but it also transfers those strength to itself.

This move is utterly unreasonable and domineering—it outright steals enemy powerboost without hesitation.

It's especially effective against enemies who rely on stat-boosting strategies.

After the opponent painstakingly buffs themselves for ages, a single Spectral Thief hands all those boosts over to Marshadow.

It's worth noting that Nen abilities come in all sorts of bizarre forms and many of them include enhancement effects.

For example, the Hip-hop Man he once encountered in the Harimu Ruins.

His Nen ability was [Scars Are a Man Medal].

By enduring repeated beatings, he could exchange them for greater power—somewhat similar to Urouge the Mad Monk from One Piece.

This type falls under the enhancement category of Nen abilities.

After the Hip-hop Man spent ages getting pummeled, Marshadow could just use [Spectral Thief] to steal all those boosts.

Even among numerous signature moves, [Spectral Thief] is considered an exceptionally strong one.

Marshadow ability to lurk within shadows is also quite impressive.

Both in terms of combat strength and stealth, it far surpasses Gengar, making it an ideal bodyguard.

Marshadow is probably one of the most suitable Pokemon for a bodyguard role.

However, Gengar possesses one ability that Marshadow lacks—and it's equally important to Akira.

That is, spatial storage.

The reason Akira doesn't have to lug around heavy bags while traveling is largely thanks to Gengar.

Most of Akira belongings are stored inside Gengar stomach, along with some of Menchi seasonings and ingredients.

So Marshadow arrival doesn't completely replace Gengar role.

Akira plans to have Marshadow stay in his shadow from now on.

I wonder if Gengar will get startled when it suddenly senses a new companion in the shadows?

Akira glanced at the still-sentimental "old man" beside him, then flashed away, reappearing in a corner outside the frame.

He couldn't wait to see his first Mythical Pokemon with his own eyes!

Since Mythical Pokemon mostly appear in movies, Akira is actually more familiar with them than many Legendaries.

For example, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea: Manaphy, Celebi: Voice of the Forest…

He watched every single movie without fail.

His favorite was Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and ever since then, he's been completely enamored with Lucario.

There was no chance to have a pokemon back on Earth, but who would've thought that after arriving in the Hunter x Hunter world, his dreams would come true?

Not only does he have Lucario, Waifu-mon (Gardevoir) and a Bunch of other Pokemon, but now even a Mythical Pokemon has appeared.

A flash of white light and a small shadow suddenly materialized before Akira—a petite, adorable figure.

Who could tell just by looking that this was a "Mythical"-tier Pokemon?

Marshadow tilted its head, studying Akira before letting out a soft sound.

Marshadow cries are rather unique—not very fixed and when excited, its pitch tends to rise.

At first glance, it sounded a bit like a Wobbuffet cry.

"How adorable." Akira bent down slightly and patted Marshadow head.

Though Marshadow was petite in size, anyone who underestimated it based on appearance would surely regret it.

Marshadow head was incredibly soft, perhaps due to its unique physiology.

Akira felt as though he was touching a cloud of cotton candy.

Marshadow closed its eyes, clearly enjoying the gesture.

Meanwhile, Netero finally snapped out of his nostalgic reverie and glanced around, noticing Akira standing in the corner.

He also spotted the Marshadow beside Akira.

"Hmm?"

"Another Nen beast?" Netero murmured, intrigued by the small-sized creature.

Among all the Pokemon he had seen Akira summon, this was likely the tiniest Nen beast he met.

Despite its size, Netero didn't assume it was weak.

None of Akira Nen beasts were ordinary.

Netero firmly believed that.

Sure enough, upon closer inspection, he noticed something peculiar.

The Nen beast was clearly standing not far from him—visible to the naked eye—yet it felt as if there was nothing there.

Apart from Akira, only empty air remained.

How was this possible?

At that moment, Netero suddenly recalled someone—an old friend of his.

That person was Maha Zoldyck! Maha Zoldyck concealment ability could achieve a similar effect—being physically present yet undetectable.

But this Nen beast stealth surpassed even Maha!

At the very least, Netero could still sense traces of Maha presence.

Yet with this Nen beast, he couldn't perceive anything at all. This meant that if the creature chose to attack from the shadows, he might struggle to defend himself.

So… Was this a Nen beast specialized in assassination?

Unwilling to accept it, Netero decided to deploy his En to test whether he could sense the strange Nen beast presence.

This decision soon became something he regretted.

Netero stood naturally, holding his breath and focusing his mind. His Aura floated outward, expanding spatially around him.

Twelve meters… ten meters… one meter!

In an instant, his En reached Akira vicinity. At this point, Netero still hadn't realized the gravity of the situation.

The moment Netero En touched Marshadow, something terrifying happened!

Netero pupils constricted violently, shrinking from their original size in an instant.

Every muscle in his body tensed up.

Beads of cold sweat rapidly formed on his forehead and back, his body stiffening completely—so much so that he couldn't even tremble.

He was like a corpse, utterly paralyzed, unable to move a single limb.

The only thing he could perceive was the horrifying image in his mind.

Netero En retracted like a receding tide.

Though the contact lasted only a split second, the impact left Netero deeply unsettled.

Through his En, he had glimpsed a blurred, indistinct figure—a hazy image that nonetheless shook him to the core.

Because the terror didn't lie in the image itself, but in its aura!

That bone-chilling presence was the true horror!

He had encountered countless people and bizarre creatures in his lifetime, even ventured into the Dark Continent.

He had witnessed many nightmarish beings beyond ordinary imagination.

But even the most terrifying creature he had seen there paled in comparison to the aura he had just sensed!

From this moment on, the owner of that aura would become the new most horrifying being he had ever encountered!

That aura would be deeply imprinted in his heart, unforgettable until the day he died.

That fear had seeped into his very bones!

In the original story, Netero could still muster fighting spirit when facing the Ant King, but against Marshadow, he found it nearly impossible to summon any will to fight.

It wasn't that he was scared.

It was simply that when facing a being so far beyond his own level, there was no room left in his mind for fighting spirit.

This was… an immensely powerful Nen beast!!

Outwardly, Netero remained motionless, as if nothing had happened.

That is, if one ignored his constricted pupils and the sweat soaking his back. In stark contrast to his calm exterior, Netero inner turmoil was a raging storm.

Shock, dread… these emotions surged like tidal waves within him.

His earlier suspicions had been correct!

Akira strength far surpassed what he had shown before!!

The Nen beasts he had previously summoned were merely the "weaker" ones in his arsenal.

He still possessed even more powerful Nen beasts!

The exact number remained a mystery—no one knew how many there truly were. The only thing Netero knew for certain was that Akira power was more than enough to dominate the Dark Continent!!

As for the six continents, they were nothing to him.

Just a fleeting aura had rendered Netero nearly immobile—he couldn't even imagine what would happen if that Nen beast were to attack.

It could probably obliterate entire regions with ease.

"Put it away" Akira said softly to Marshadow, his unfathomable orange-red eyes briefly closing before reopening.

When they opened again, Netero felt his body relax, the stiffness vanishing instantly.

He gasped for breath, trying to steady his racing heart.

Glancing at Netero, who was finally recovering, Akira expression turned contemplative.

Netero earlier paralysis had reminded him of something.

In the movie, Marshadow had controlled a horde of Pokemon to surround Ash and his friends.

So, it must have the ability to manipulate other creatures?

Could his Marshadow do the same?

If so, wouldn't that mean he could command an army of creatures to fight for him?

Understanding Akira thoughts, Marshadow first shook its head, then nodded.

This left Akira puzzled.

Did that mean yes or no?
