Perhaps due to the evolution of his own eyes, the first awakening ability of Izayoi's Tenseigan was not only different from Toneri Otsutsuki's but also remarkably stable in power.
Even if his body suffered severe damage, the power of the Tenseigan would not disappear.
Only when his Chakra and Eye Power were completely depleted would his Tenseigan regress back to the Byakugan.
After the Byakugan evolved into the Tenseigan, the eyes continued to absorb Chakra secreted by the brain, much like storing energy.
Once the energy was fully saturated, the second awakening would arrive.
Just as it took two years for the Byakugan to evolve into the Tenseigan, Izayoi had a premonition that his second awakening might take some time to come.
However, Izayoi was already very satisfied with having awakened the Tenseigan now.
At twelve years old, he was still in his early childhood, with his childhood just coming to an end.
He would only enter his growth phase at fifteen.
By that age, girls would be completely outmatched by boys.
Even if Izayoi did nothing, once his body entered the growth phase at fifteen, his potential would rapidly manifest, just like Toneri Otsutsuki on the moon.
By nineteen, even without any combat experience, as long as he transplanted a pair of highly pure Byakugan, he would be able to master the power of another dimension.
If even Toneri Otsutsuki, who only had one red Talent, could achieve this, then Izayoi, who possessed several red Talents, was even more capable.
Awakening the Tenseigan at twelve was the best proof of his extraordinary potential.
...
"Izayoi, are you back in your original form now?"
Having safely passed through the first awakening period, Izayoi finally rejoined the team.
As soon as he returned, Aburame Shino immediately noticed the changes in his insects and looked at Izayoi with astonishment.
The insects... were afraid! In just half a month, Izayoi had grown so much stronger?
What kind of Ninja Technique had he been developing? "Yes, my Ninja Technique is now complete, so I've returned," Izayoi replied with a smile.
"What Ninja Technique have you been practicing?"
Since Aburame Shino was wearing sunglasses and had his collar pulled up high, Kurenai Yuhi didn't notice the change in his expression. She was merely curious about what Ninja Technique Izayoi had been working on during this time.
"Secrets make a man more charming."
Izayoi raised his index finger to his lips, teasingly saying, "If there's a chance, Teacher Kurenai, you'll see it for yourself. I guarantee it'll blow your mind."
"Izayoi, has anyone ever told you that you're really asking for a beating?" A large vein popped on Kurenai's forehead.
Izayoi turned to Hinata and asked, "Hinata, do you think I'm asking for a beating?"
"Not at all," Hinata honestly shook her head.
"You two, are you really not a couple?" Kurenai couldn't help but voice the same complaint as their classmates from the ninja academy.
Izayoi smiled without answering, while Hinata's cheeks turned red.
After this little interlude, Team 8 continued to carry out D-rank missions.
Sometimes they completed one mission a day, sometimes two or three, and occasionally they would take a few days off before resuming their tasks.
Whether it was cleaning up trash, helping villagers take care of children, or tending to crops... Team 8 performed exceptionally well, earning consistent praise from their clients.
During this period, Kurenai also wanted to teach her Genjutsu to Team 8.
However, both Hinata and Aburame Shino declined, as they only wanted to focus on their Clan Secret Techniques.
Izayoi also refused.
If he hadn't yet completed his first fetal movement, Izayoi would have been willing to accept this favor.
Although his stats panel was quite impressive, with several red talents that looked intimidating, in reality, Izayoi, who had not yet awakened the Tenseigan, had spent the past few years improving his perception and healing abilities. Those red talents hadn't brought him much of a boost in combat power.
Without using the Super Hurricane Consecutive Spheres or the Secret Art he was still perfecting, Izayoi's offensive methods were limited to the low-level Wind Release techniques left by his father and a few Fire Release Ninja Techniques from the Uchiha Clan.
With the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and these ninja techniques, Izayoi feared no Jonin.
Once he completed that Secret Art, he would be an Elite Jonin capable of threatening the Hokage, just like Kakashi Hatake.
Izayoi's previous strength was on par with a Jonin.
Now, having awakened the Tenseigan and possessing the two great abilities of Attraction and Repulsion, Izayoi was essentially Tendo Pain without Planetary Devastation, placing him on the level of a Kage-level powerhouse.
He no longer lacked offensive, defensive, or support abilities.
There was no need to accept Kurenai Yuhi's favor anymore. So, just like in the original story, Kurenai simply acted as a guide, teaching Team 8 how to become qualified ninjas.
And so, time passed until May 1st.
That morning, Team 8 gathered at their usual spot.
"Your performance last month was excellent, with not a single negative review on any of your missions," Kurenai said as soon as she arrived, bringing good news to Team 8. "As a reward, today I'll take you to accept a higher-level mission."
Hearing this, Hinata's face lit up with joy.
If Shino had removed his sunglasses, one would have seen his eyes slightly brighten, and the corners of his mouth under his collar curl up slightly.
"Is it a C-rank mission?" Izayoi asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yes," Kurenai nodded. "Genin usually only handle D-rank missions. Only experienced Genin, or those led by a Jonin Instructor, can take on C-rank missions."
"Unlike D-rank missions, which are mostly chores, C-rank missions often require leaving the village and may involve encountering unknown enemies, posing life-threatening risks."
"Technically, you've only been graduated for a little over a month and aren't yet qualified for C-rank missions. But considering your recent performance, we decided to reward you."
"Let's go, to the Hokage Building."
Kurenai led the eager Team 8 to the Hokage's office in the Hokage Building.
"Are you here to accept a C-rank mission?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked, holding his pipe and puffing out smoke as he examined Izayoi and Hinata, who towered over their peers, feeling a bit dazed.
Had those two chubby-cheeked children from back then grown so much?
Recalling the scene of Izayoi clashing with Uchiha Sasuke, where even the latter, who had awakened the Sharingan, was completely suppressed, Hiruzen nodded and said, "Alright. Although Team 8 has only been formed for a little over a month, every mission you've taken has received praise from the clients. Since your Jonin Instructor believes you're ready, we'll assign you a C-rank mission."
With that, Hiruzen pulled out a large scroll from under his desk.
Opening the scroll, his fingers lightly glided over the surface before coming to a stop.
"Your perception is quite good. There's a mission here that suits you well."
Hiruzen Sarutobi exhaled a puff of smoke and spoke slowly, "Recently, a mining team came to the Leaf Village for business. They fear being robbed by mountain bandits and rogue ninjas on their way back, so they've entrusted us with escorting them to the Land of Rivers."
"This mission will be assigned to you. Any questions?" Hiruzen Sarutobi looked at Kurenai Yuhi.
"Yes."
Kurenai Yuhi nodded respectfully.
Izayoi and the other two remained silent.
Hiruzen Sarutobi's fingers, wrapped in a Chakra Aura, pressed onto the surface of a scroll.
With a soft poof, a small puff of smoke dissipated.
A scroll, small enough to be held in one hand, appeared in Hiruzen Sarutobi's grasp.
He tossed the scroll to Kurenai Yuhi and said, "This contains the client's information. Go and negotiate with them."
"Yes, Lord Hokage."
Kurenai Yuhi replied respectfully once more.
Then, she led Team 8 out of the Hokage's office.
Throughout the entire interaction, Hiruzen Sarutobi did not speak to Team 8, and none of them acted as impulsively as Uzumaki Naruto might have.
After leaving the Hokage's building, Kurenai Yuhi opened the scroll and led Team 8 to the outside of a nearby inn.
"Wait here for me. I'll go and negotiate with the client."
With those words, Kurenai walked over to a carriage parked outside the inn and began conversing with the person in charge of it.
Soon, that person led Kurenai into the inn.
Upon closer inspection, one would notice that the carriage had a flag hanging from it, bearing the character for "iron."
Their destination was the Land of Rivers, and it was certain that this "iron" character had no connection to the Land of Iron.
The mining team likely referred to an iron ore operation.
From what the books mentioned, the Land of Rivers had a complex geographical environment, with dense forests and mountains. Its people seemed to live either on the mountains or at their bases, and their villages were often referred to as mountain villages.
Izayoi and the other two analyzed this in their minds.
