Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: Surprise!

At first, Darren thought that everything would be okay if he let him run. But not for Evan. He chose to chase that man and rounded the house. Everglow's house was big enough to make them exercise before sleep.

From the window, Darren could see the city of Mierre-Park. Still a long way from arriving at the city. Maybe they needed eight more hours. This house was between the city and the camp. The condition of this house was still good enough if they needed a place to stock goods from Mierre-Park or their camp.

"AAAA!" Another scream was heard from the first floor. Darren went down to check on both Mia and Thalia. He caught Thalia, who held a knife in her hand. She tried to take care of Mia and herself. Her face showed that she was scared, like Mia, who stood behind her. Mia looked like she had found something before she took a fork to battle with someone who entered her house.

Darren was furious to see this man in another black outfit. Of course, Darren could assume that they were a gang. They tried to give them much terror. He didn't know who was trying to test his patience.

His foot kicked that man away a few steps from Mia and Thalia. He looked surprised to see Darren still in the house and not chasing his friend, whom Evan now tried to chase. Darren could see his widened eyes; he looked like he knew who Darren was.

He got up as fast as lightning. He ran to the door before Darren followed him out of the house. On the terrace of the house, Darren was just helped by a garden lamp with fire, which Mia turned on. Another light was just moonlight, which didn't help him much. He still couldn't see clearly because it was too dark.

"Boss! Stop! You should stop!" Evan's voice was heard in the middle of the night. Darren did what Evan said, but he noticed that Evan was cornered. He couldn't go anywhere because people in black outfits surrounded him. Evan needed his help, and Darren would never leave him alone. Darren walked closer to him. He would give them a lesson today. "I said stop!"

"So, this is your boss, right?" One man who stood in front of Evan muttered. He drew his knife, followed by his friends. Darren slowly stopped beside Evan, who was annoyed and stared at that man.

"Who are you?!" Evan shouted.

Darren knew that Evan was full of wrath to see ten men trying to kill them. They had just arrived and needed rest after driving from morning to evening. But these men made Darren and Evan need to work out for one hour before sleep.

Evan's hand extended, and he made sure that his boss was still safe, even though they were in danger. He knew his duty to save the prince, even now Darren wasn't a prince anymore. Both of them were walking backward. Darren assumed that these men just needed time to attack them.

"Who's your boss?" Darren raised his voice. He observed the men in front of him. They had long hair, a little bit wavy. Some of them had fit bodies; maybe they exercised regularly. When Darren saw how they held the knife, Darren knew that they were also good at martial arts.

"You don't need to know who our boss is! We just must bring Prince Darren to him! Let's go, I will never hurt you with this knife if you make everything easy for us." Darren never trusted them, maybe he would say that today. But someone can't guarantee Darren's life tomorrow.

Darren stopped when his foot stepped on something, which made him sway. Fortunately, he still could handle everything and kept everyone on their toes without attacking. He glanced at his feet, something he stepped on.

Pruning shears.

Darren could use this as his weapon!

"Answer his question!" Evan shouted again. Now, the tension was hotter than before. Everyone was full of wrath, including Darren and Evan. Darren thought that Evan's success made these men lose focus, and wrath could control their bodies.

"I'm not the prince, you're wrong," Darren said. "If you're searching for a prince named Darren, I'm not that person."

Darren squatted to pick up the pruning shears on the terrace. Some of them realized his breakthrough when he took the pruning shears as his weapon. Darren stabbed the two men in front of him, followed by Evan, who successfully made the leader of this gang freeze because of his knife to his neck.

The two men whom Darren stabbed were now on the floor. They held their thighs, which were bleeding because of Darren. Even when the leader couldn't move, they still tried to kill Evan, who stood behind him. He used his elbow to hit Evan's stomach.

Evan would not let him out of his clutches. Evan used his knife to stab his stomach until he saw blood. "ARGH!" he shouted because Evan killed him.

After knocking down two men until they were in pain, Darren was pulled by two others. He ducked when one hand tried to hit him from the side. Darren stepped back a few steps before he ran and kicked one of the men until he collapsed on the floor.

There was still one man left. Darren got up and grabbed the man's shirt before Darren stabbed his back with the pruning shears he used. Screams of pain seemed to collide. Darren knew he had to be like this to survive.

Besides, he wouldn't be at a loss for killing this gang that caused chaos in the game world. No one would be harmed because they were just extra characters.

Darren kept focused on another target. He walked closer to one man who was holding a knife in his hand. He looked amateur, or maybe he was scared. Again and again, Darren stabbed that man. Darren and Evan needed to kill, or they would be killed.

"How many did you kill?" Darren asked. Evan was silent while calculating the people he had killed. "Five? Six?"

"No, only five," he said.

"We lost one again. I calculate around ten men who attacked us!" Darren cast his eyes around for one other person. Everything was dark; he couldn't see anyone else in a black outfit. "We lost him?"

"Wait a minute, I saw him!" Thalia shouted from a window on the second floor. Beside her, Darren and Evan looked at Mia, who observed something in the middle of the plantation.

Thalia held a bow and was ready to shoot an arrow. She looked like she estimated the distance of her arrow.

"Now!" Mia said. Thalia shot the arrow, which Darren and Evan couldn't see. He waited around five seconds until Thalia and Mia smiled happily. "Yes!"

Darren opened his mouth, trying to believe that the arrow had hit that man. Darren needed to trust those girls, but how could she shoot in the dark?!

He looked at Evan, who, same as him, appreciated the girls with hidden skills that were so helpful for them. At first, Darren thought that Thalia and Mia were just common women. Maybe Luna stood out among her little sisters. But Darren now knew all of them had skills.

"Shoot him again till he dies, Thalia," Mia said to her twin.

"Okay!" Thalia took one arrow and prepared again to shoot him. Darren glanced at Evan before observing Mia and Thalia's skill.

"They are unpredictable, Evan. We must gratefully accept Luna's recommendation for her sisters to join this journey," Darren said before entering the house.

Darren widened his eyes when he heard Sasa's voice for the second time. Okay, Darren would conclude if the first notification was his. But why does he get two notifications almost at the same time?

Darren froze in the middle of the living room. He remembered all of his friends in camp, especially he remember Luna.

"Hey, are you okay?" Evan's voice was heard, and he made Darren turn around with his worried face.
