Chapter 2: The World Begins to Crumble
Dark clouds churned over what remained of the northern skyline. Where once stood a bustling city of steel and light, now stood a cratered ruin drenched in ash and silence. What had begun as a tremor in the Earth's crust had cracked into a gaping wound in reality—a Dimensional Rift, a gate to something not meant for this world.
They called them Abyss Portals.
And they weren't done opening.
—One week after the first Rift—
The skies over Earth were no longer blue.
The first monsters that came through were small. Shadows in the fog, easily dismissed. Then came the roars. The fangs. The scaled horrors that shrugged off bullets and tore through tanks like paper. The world's defenses, its weapons, its pride—nuclear warheads, orbital strikes, drone swarms—all were rendered meaningless.
Humanity was on its knees within days.
But in the ashes of civilization... something awakened.
In a ruined academy compound on the city outskirts, Luo Shen crouched behind a broken wall, his black hair clinging to his blood-speckled face. He stared coldly at the group of bullies—those same arrogant upperclassmen who'd tormented him only a week ago—now screaming for their lives.
They had tried to flee from the beast, a grotesque mantis the size of a bus, armored in dark crystal plates and radiating killing intent. It clicked its jaws, snapping them like scissors as it charged.
Useless cowards, Luo thought, stepping forward.
He could feel the power humming in his core. A storm locked in a bottle.
[Chaos Infinity System Activated]
Would you like to spend 1 Chaos Point to deploy "Phantom Blade: Minor Tier"?
—Cost: 1 CP
—Remaining Chaos Points: ∞
"Just a sliver," he whispered.
A thin, ethereal blade formed in his hand—almost invisible to the eye, crackling with void energy. With a flick of his wrist, the weapon screamed forward, slicing through the air with no sound. The mantis paused. Then its body split neatly into three parts.
The bullies fell silent.
"W-Was that…?" one of them stammered.
Luo turned away, brushing dust from his jacket.
"I was never the weak one," he said flatly. "You were just blind."
Elsewhere, in the shelter beneath the academy's training center, Lian Shen clutched the strange glowing egg tightly to her chest.
It pulsed. Warm. Alive.
The strange system window hovering in front of her eyes flickered again.

Her breath trembled. She didn't know what was happening. Her brother had only told her to hide. Told her not to come out, no matter what.
She remembered the scream of that beast above. She remembered seeing her brother walking into the smoke alone.
He had no weapon. No armor. No system rank.
So why… was the monster the one who died?
In the shadows above, Luo Shen returned to the academy rooftop and sat beneath the shattered tower bell. No one was around. He finally let out a sigh.

He opened his Chaos Infinity Store and stared at the limitless void of weapons, skills, tools, and powers.
Divine Armors. Forbidden Scrolls. Dimensional Pets. Reality-Breaking Artifacts.
Everything… available for him.
And all at prices only he could afford—because every cost was meaningless to a system that could not run out.
But he wouldn't use it. Not yet.
Let the world fall apart. Let the strong rise and the weak beg for safety.
He would wait.
Wait until the right moment—until they needed a savior.
And only then would they know…
That the true god was already walking among them.
