Drake stood on the windswept Highland Traverse, the distant, magnificent sight of Silverhaven City etched into his memory by [Perfect Recall]. The journey from Oakhaven had been long, filled with challenges, discoveries, and steady growth. He consulted his [Cartographer's Route Maps], identifying the safest descent path from the mesa into the vast plains that stretched towards the metropolis.
The path was steep and winding, a series of switchbacks carved into the cliff face that only [Relic Hunter] and the detailed map made easily navigable. As he descended, the thin, cold air of the highlands gradually gave way to a warmer, more temperate climate. The rugged, alpine flora transitioned to hardy grasses and shrubs, then to lusher vegetation as he reached the plains below. A system notification chimed as he stepped onto the flatlands.
<< Entering Silverhaven Marches (Recommended Level: 18-25) >>
"Silverhaven Marches. Level 18-25. Okay, mobs here will be tougher. Good thing I'm close to 18."
The plains were vast, rolling gently towards the distant northern horizon where Silverhaven lay. He encountered new wildlife almost immediately: herds of Plains Striders (Level 18), large flightless birds with powerful legs, and packs of Silvermane Prowlers (Level 19), sleek, silver-furred wolves significantly more dangerous than their Veridian Woods counterparts.
Drake engaged them cautiously at first. A Level 19 Silvermane Prowler lunged. [Defend] << Perfect Defend! Damage Taken: 0! Off-Balance Applied! >> His 100% SCR [Basic Slash] followed instantly. << Perfect Execution! Damage Dealt: 250! >>
The Prowler yelped, but it was noticeably tankier than the Highland mobs. It took several more perfect slashes, [Relentless Assault] building with each hit, before it fell. << Defeated Silvermane Prowler! EXP +350 >>
"Hits harder, more HP. Still manageable, especially once Relentless Assault stacks up. But need to be careful with pulls."
He continued north, guided by his Cartographer's maps and compass. The maps proved invaluable in this new, higher-level zone, highlighting optimal routes that avoided large Prowler packs or Strider nesting grounds. They also pointed out hidden springs for fresh water and small, defensible ruins that could serve as temporary rest stops. He diligently used [Relic Hunter] to scan these marked locations, occasionally finding minor caches of common crafting materials or discarded adventurer gear (mostly vendor trash).
The steady combat against Level 18 and 19 mobs, where every fight demanded his focus and perfect execution to maintain efficiency and safety, provided excellent experience. After several hours of determined travel and clearing numerous Prowler packs that contested his path, the familiar chime sounded.
Ding! LEVEL UP! You are now Level 18! << Base Attributes Increased! HP/MP/Stamina Increased! +2 Attribute Points Available! >>
Drake assigned the points, feeling a solid boost to his combat prowess and survivability. Now at Level 18, he felt much more comfortable navigating the Silverhaven Marches. The Level 18-19 mobs were a less threat when encountered in small numbers.
As he pressed further north, the signs of proximity to a major city became undeniable. The rough tracks indicated on his Cartographer's maps began to merge with wider, well-maintained dirt roads showing signs of heavy wagon traffic. He started seeing other players more frequently – individuals and small groups, some heading towards Silverhaven, others venturing out. He spotted NPC merchant caravans, heavily guarded by Level 20+ Silverhaven City Guards in gleaming, well-maintained armor bearing the city's insignia. Large, cultivated fields and managed woodlands replaced the wilder plains.
The air itself seemed to change, carrying the distant hum of a massive population and industry. And then, the walls.
They rose from the plains ahead, impossibly vast and tall, constructed from gleaming white stone that seemed to incorporate veins of faintly glowing blue Alvari crystal. Towers and bastions, flying banners with the Silverhaven crest, punctuated the wall at regular intervals, their sheer scale dwarfing anything Drake had seen in Oakhaven. Beyond the walls, the spires of even taller structures pierced the sky – the rumored Great Library dome, the peaks of the Mage Guilds, the central Citadel of the city's rulers.
His Cartographer's map guided him towards the main northern trade road, which led directly to a colossal gatehouse built into the white walls. The activity here was immense. Dozens of players and NPCs moved in and out, caravans queued for entry or exit, guards patrolled vigilantly, and vendors had set up temporary stalls just outside the gate, catering to travelers.
Drake stopped at the edge of a small, temporary encampment about a hundred yards from the main gate, simply taking in the sight. Silverhaven. He had finally arrived. The journey from Oakhaven, through multiple wilderness zones, facing countless mobs, environmental challenges, and the mysteries of the Cartographer's map and Alvari artifacts, had led him here.
"This is it. Silverhaven. Looks even bigger than the stories. Oakhaven was a village compared to this. Okay. First things first: get inside, find an inn, set a recall point. Then, the bank. And then... start gathering information about Elder Jian and anything related to Alvari twin blades or resonance."
He felt a surge of anticipation mixed with a healthy dose of caution. A city this large would hold countless opportunities, but also new dangers and complexities. Phase one of his journey felt complete. The real search, the one Master Kallan had set him upon, was about to begin in earnest. With a final look at the towering gates, Drake merged with the flow of travelers heading towards the entrance of the great city of Silverhaven.
