Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: First steps of Strength

The sky brightened faintly as the warm morning light filtered gently into the cave.

Inside the den, Lin Feng slowly rose to his feet and stepped out of the den with cautious determination. He approached Luna Mother Wolf and Mira the Beta wolf standing before him.

Behind Lin Feng, the other wolf cubs had also opened their eyes. They tried to follow his example, but after only a few unsteady steps, they would lose their balance and tumble to the ground. It was clear they still needed time to master walking.

Mother Wolf gazed at Lin Feng with relief and pride. She was overjoyed that her cub had taken this important developmental step.

It had been nearly five days since the snow leopard attack. That harrowing experience had taught Lin Feng one clear lesson: without strength, they were nothing more than easy prey to larger predators.

Since that day, Lin Feng had trained diligently every day—By suckling daily, stretching during the day and absorbing moonlight at night.

Though he had not fully met the evolution path's conditions, but he had grown to be about fifty percent larger and stronger than the other cubs his age.

Standing tall before Mother Wolf, Lin Feng first looked at her and then at the Beta wolf, who shared her happiness.

The wound on the Beta's neck had already healed and, thankfully, had not become infected.

During this time, Lin Feng's bond with the pack had grown stronger. He no longer referred to the Beta wolf by her title but by her name.

Mira Leaned over and gently licked Lin Feng's head in quiet celebration of his progress.

Even the two older brother wolves guarding outside the cave had been drawn inside by the cub's first successful steps. This was their first time entering the den.

The two wolves stood before Lin Feng and observed the new generation. Lin Feng's eldest brother Kael watched calmly, his expression one of quiet joy.

While Thorne, His second brother more lively by nature, circled Lin Feng excitedly, as if wanting to see his sibling clearly and share his happiness.

Ragnar the Father Wolf regarded Lin Feng with a cold gaze before turning and retreating to the cave's entrance, where he silently lay down and closed his eyes.

Seeing their father return to his post, the two brothers quickly followed to continue their vigil.

Lin Feng had successfully taken his first steps and, in doing so, sent a clear signal: the new generation of cubs would soon all learn to walk. This meant they would soon require more care and nurturing.

After a brief celebration, the wolves returned to their duties. The two female wolves continued to tend the cubs, and the guards resumed their watch at the cave entrance.

Only Lin Feng remained standing, lost in thought as he stared ahead.

Suddenly, the system interface, which had not appeared for days, reemerged before him. This time, however, Lin Feng was finally able to begin training according to the evolution conditions displayed.

The other task were to jump half an hour and an hour of running. Although he had only just mastered walking, Lin Feng did not hesitate. He began pacing steadily through the spacious cave.

The wolves paid no mind to his unusual behavior. After all, Lin Feng had already done many strange things in recent days, and this was just one more. They were also pleased that the cubs were eager to learn and train.

This new ability would allow the younger generation to join the hunting team sooner, strengthening the pack.

In the days that followed, Lin Feng spent almost all his energy on walking and running, only returning to the den briefly to nurse.

He covered nearly every corner of the cave. Perhaps it was due to his growth or the strange moonlight he absorbed each night, but he never felt tired.

After half an hours of running, he remained energetic, eager to move on to the next exercise.

The second task was to jump for half an hour. This proved much easier. Full of energy, Lin Feng even added running to the routine.

Inside the cave, the white-furred cub dashed forward, leapt onto a protruding rock, and landed cleanly. He then jumped down and charged forward to repeat the cycle.

...

By the time the sun had set, Lin Feng finally stopped and felt the first real fatigue.

He realized the first two evolution conditions complemented each other perfectly and could be trained simultaneously. This was far more efficient than training them separately.

At the cave entrance, Ragnar the Father Wolf returned with his two sons. The three had been patrolling outside during Lin Feng's training to ensure no intruders entered their territory.

They arrived at the interior where the hunting team had laid down the carcasses of two northern mountain goats—a lucky catch from the previous day.

Food was plentiful, and the wolves need not worry for the next few days.

Luna the Mother Wolf brought Mirato share the meal with Father Wolf. Then it was time for the rest of the pack to eat.

However, today's meal was somewhat different from recent days.

After the two Alpha wolves finished eating, Mother Wolf turned and fixed her gaze on Lin Feng.

Mira the Beta wolf followed her gaze.

Lin Feng was initially startled but quickly understood their meaning.

He was about to be weaned and could finally start eating meat.

He turned inwardly, accepting the reality. After all, he was already entering the weaning period.

His canine teeth itched, a sure sign they were growing. That meant he was ready to eat raw meat.

With that thought, Lin Feng leapt forward and joined the pack.

Compared to the tall adults, he was still quite small.

He obediently took his place beside his brothers, staring down at the northern mountain goat carcass.

Father Wolf and Mother Wolf had torn a large hole in its abdomen, revealing white intestines spilled on the ground. The rest of the organs had been eaten clean.

Apparently, even wolves avoided intestines containing feces.

Lin Feng glanced at the intestines and then focused on the blood-red flesh and white fat around the abdomen.

As a modern soul reincarnated into this world, he had never eaten raw meat before—especially mutton, which had a strong flavor.

But he had little choice; starvation was not an option.

Seeing Lin Feng hesitate, Mira the nearby Beta wolf hastily began eating the mountain goat.

If Lin Feng delayed any longer, he would be left with only bones and intestines to chew on.
