Chapter 10 - Ryan Williams

Letting out a small sigh, I caressed her head before gently lifting her chin with a finger, making her look at me.

I was about to speak, but when I noticed she looked extremely beautiful with her looking up at me with her misty eyes and seeing her tempting, moist pink lips, I was almost unable to resist the urge to lean over to kiss her, but fortunately, it was only almost.

Taking a deep breath, I quickly regained my composure and then said in a soft but firm voice, "Believe me, little Cat. Mom will be fine. You no longer need to worry about her."

Maybe because she felt embarrassed looking up at me, or maybe it was because of some other reason, the possibilities that I didn't want to think about lest I lose control, she was blushing, which made her look even more tempting.

"Mm, I believe you." She softly said, closing her eyes and leaning her face into my hand like an adorable kitten, which put a smile on my face but stirred my desires too.

"Okay, now go take a shower and then sleep for a few hours. We are going out in the afternoon for lunch." I told her before lying down on the sofa and closing my eyes.

Cataline gazed at her big brother with tender affection in her gorgeous black eyes, and her heart was racing.

"...Big Brother…"

She softly muttered before her eyes went wide as she panicked, thinking he might have heard her.

Swoosh!

Flustered, she jumped down from the bed and ran toward the attached bathroom.

"Hmm?" I opened my eyes and looked over but only saw my little sister's back before she disappeared in the bathroom.

"Did she call me?" I muttered before shaking my head.

'System, pull up my status screen.' I said in my mind.

Unlike those protagonists in web novels, I didn't have the luxury to check my status the moment I got the system.

I could have checked it on the long journey here, but with Cat sitting in my lap throughout the night, all my mental capacity was being used in suppressing those illicit, raging emotions, and therefore I could not afford to be distracted.

[Name: Ryan Williams]

[System Shop] (Inactive) →

[Inventory] →

"Williams, huh?" I muttered when I saw my name.

Not wanting to think too much about it, I trailed my gaze downwards.

When I saw my physical stats, I was surprised because in my age group and even when compared to older men, I wasn't any weaker.

'Does this mean we are all weak or the system's standards are different?' I mused, 'Well, at least my mental is above average.'

I shrugged nonchalantly, but when I saw the Conqueror Points, I raised my brows and asked in my mind, 'System, did that Basic Recovery Potion cost 100 Conqueror Points?'

"..."

I waited, but there was no reply, which made me shake my head in disappointment.

Then, I scanned the rest of the information. When I saw [System Shop] was inactive, I frowned in confusion because the system had bought the Basic Recovery Potion from it. How can it be inactive?

'Why is the system shop inactive?' I asked again.

This time, the system responded as another floating screen appeared in front of me.

[System: Conqueror System]

[System Level: 0]

[Requires 10,000 Conqueror Points to level up to level 1.]

My eyelids twitched when I saw this.

"Fuck!" I cursed. Just as I had mentioned earlier, I really didn't want to be like those protagonists who toiled to earn system points to get their things done, but… it seemed inevitable.

After a few moments, I exhaled a deep breath and shook my head. 'Let's just be happy with the fact that I have the system and will be able to do things others can only fantasize about.'

Then, I proceeded to open the Quest section and saw there was only one quest.

[Mission: Make Vicky Yours]

[Description: Have sex with her and make her yours.]

[Time left: 2 days, 16 hours]

'I'll talk to her in the evening, but I need to plan exactly what I should say lest I hurt her pride and make her feel cheap.'

Thinking this, I closed the quest section and opened the inventory.

A screen with ten boxes appeared in front of me. Except for one, which had a black card icon, all others were greyed out. Above the box was some information.

[Inventory]

Slots: 10

Occupied Slot: 1

[Note: You can store any non-living item in the inventory as long as the space it takes doesn't exceed 1 cubic meter.]

I clicked on the first box, and immediately, a sleek, metallic black card appeared in the air.

I grabbed it. 'Hm? It looks similar to a credit card. Wait! Does this mean the $10,000 I got yesterday in reward is in it and not in my bank?'

I asked the system, and it confirmed it.

[The system has created a universal account for the host. All the host's income can be stored in it and transferred from it. All the transactions done through the black card will be untraceable. If the host wants to withdraw physical cash, the host can use ATM's.]

My lips curled up, and I couldn't help but praise it, 'Good job, system!'

With this, I would have no need to worry about taxes and other stuff.

'I'm really going to play on a whole other field now, aren't I?'

The system didn't respond. I didn't mind it and willed the floating screens to disappear.

Then I sat up and took out a razor blade from my pocket. I had bought it from a convenience store before we found this motel.

Since Cat had just entered the bathroom, I knew she would take her sweet time, so I was not in a hurry.

Standing up, I walked over to the bed with quiet steps and sat down beside Lori.

I gazed at her pale face, feeling heartache.

"You are going to be healthy again." I muttered and activated the [Healing Fluids].
