We locked eyes with each other, the face in front of me so similar yet not at the same time. It's as if he's mocking me without even being there!
After a moment of silence, she stepped closer, speaking once more. "So you're the one who gave my brother some trouble the other night," she said, glaring down at me. "If it weren't for his mission, he would've easily killed a weakling like you," she continued, kneeling to eye level.
I glared back at her, gripping the hilt of my sword. But before I could strike, the sound of a flute played in my ear, followed by excruciating pain in my shoulder and back. I let out a scream, the left and back sides of my body slowly going numb. Again, a familiar sensation akin to small worms burrowing into my blood vessels, gnawing at my nerves and flesh.
Poison?! But I thought the healing pill had expelled it from my body. How is it still-?!
Another dreaded hum of a flute sound, and another scream left my mouth as I felt my body being eaten inside out. I fell on my right side, holding my left shoulder as if the pain would go away if I did. The back of my eyes began to sting, tears welling up as my glare noticed something. Not too far away was the demonic cultivator I was fighting, injured in the shoulder and chest, yet they held a flute to their lips, playing a pitched melody, akin to a dog whistle.
As another pitched hum came from the flute, I bit my lip to keep myself from screaming as another wave of pain crashed into me. By now, most of my left side was already numb.
Suddenly, the female cultivator grabbed my hair, pulling me up to meet her apathetic gaze. Then her eyes moved to the injured cultivators behind her.
"Juniors, the mission is complete, we're heading back."
"But Senior!" one coughed out, holding up the other by the waist.
"The mission is complete, we'll kill him on the way back," she countered, sending a glare their way.
I could feel a shiver run down all of our spines. For a moment, it numbed the pain in my back, before coming back twice as bad.
She stood up, dragging me by the hair as she unsheathed one of her swords. She threw it up in the air, quickly performing a series of hand seals.
Flying Sword technique.
An instant last, the sword took on an ominous aura as it floated up in the air, flying down to hover just a few inches above the floor. The cultivator looked back at her juniors before they quickly mimed her actions.
She stepped onto the sword, slinging me onto her shoulder. My vision started to blur as my consciousness slipped away.
Damn it
I stared at my hand, still gripping my sword like my life depends on it. Using the remains of my consciousness, I thought back to the hand seal she used.
Okay, I think I can do this.
I gave my sword one last squeeze, sending a wisp of qi through it before hurling it up into the air. Using my now empty hand, I perform the hand seals of the Flying Sword technique. It was shaky, not my best work I'll admit, but good enough. I elbowed the woman carrying me, reaching out for the sword. The sword floated up and swept down towards us. I grabbed the hilt, sending a large amount of spiritual energy through it. With that, I was pulled away into the sky.
As I soared into the air, I felt some feeling coming back in my left side. Using that opportunity, I took out three explosive beads from my storage bag and dropped them towards the ship. Seconds later, three loud explosions echoed through the air, the ship below caught in a fiery blaze. From the skies, I saw one lone cultivator retreating into the city on a flying sword. It was the masked cultivator, from the looks of it, she's heavily injured. The other two should be dead.
I grinned in my triumph. I almost died, but I won this round. Hopefully this will send a nice message to that scum.
Suddenly, my sword started to shake, losing its altitude by the second.
Crap!!!!!
I gripped the hilt with both hands as I tried to steer the sword towards a nearby shore. This is what I get for free-handing a control technique!!
The sword surged down, taking me with it as I crashed into the waves.

Sup everyone! Sorry for the short chapter, but thank you for reading. This marks the end of the New Book period. I'll be taking a break from posting for about two weeks to stack up on chapters. Anyway, thanks for reading this far and I hope you enjoy it. \(*^▽^*)/
