At first, I thought I went back in time… back to when I was a baby. I didn't know why, but deep down, I had an inkling that something was off. That maybe… just maybe, I didn't actually go back in time.
But what else could it be?
No matter how hard I racked my brain, everything pointed to one thing—I went back to the past. So, I concluded that I was a regressor.
It was then that I discovered something startling… I was born just before the beginning of the apocalypse.
And that's when I made up my mind—I will not make the same mistakes I made in my past life. Never again.
I already knew my real parents were dead. My foster parents—who were one of the strongest powerhouses in the apocalypse—told me so themselves. They said my parents were like friends to them. That they had simply paid back the debt they owed by raising me.
And of course, I believed their bullshit. What choice did I have?
It wasn't until now that I truly saw how evil those two nuisances were.
They killed my father!
They fucking killed him—and all I could do was watch with open eyes.
How can a regressor be so powerless!?
That was when I made up my mind.
I will avenge my parents. Once I grow strong enough—I will humiliate them, break them, destroy them. I'll make them curse my name even in their next life!
The way they treated human life like trash—like something disposable—fueled my rage even more.
I know they had their reasons, sure. But out of all the options they could've chosen to survive, they chose the one where they sacrificed my father as food for a beast… just to buy time!?
They didn't even try to find another way.
But I don't give a damn whether they were right or wrong.
I'll make them pay.
For every single crime they committed—I'll make sure they suffer for it.
I even have a gut feeling they played a part in my mother's death, too. That alone is enough for me to dig deeper.
And if there's anything I can do to stop her death this time around… I swear I'll try my damn best.
I watched, heart bleeding with anger, as Steve threw my father's corpse out of the car like it was garbage. No dignity. No respect. Just tossed out the door like roadkill.
At that moment, I hated his face. It disgusted me. I had the unbearable urge to strangle him with my bare hands. Sadly… I was too weak.
I'm just a baby.
One punch from him, and I'd be nothing more than a smear on the window.
I wanted to scream at him—to curse him with every fiber of my soul—but all that came out was infantile wailing. Crying. That was all I could do.
That's the curse of having an adult's mind trapped inside the body of a newborn.
I could think, but I couldn't talk. All I could do was cry like a helpless child.
After he threw out my father's corpse, my mother couldn't handle it. Her screams filled the car, her tears streaming like rivers as she slammed her fists against his back.
Her sobs tore through me. Each one a blade slicing into my chest.
I wanted power. I needed power. If I could trade anything—anything—just to wipe that smugness off Steve's face, I would.
What caught me off guard was how Steve didn't fight back. Not even once. He just took the hits, hands on the wheel, face stiff. He didn't retaliate—not that I expected him to use brute strength against a grieving woman—but he could've said something. Anything.
And eventually… he did.
After holding it in for too long, he finally spoke. His voice cold and irritated. He told Jane—that snake—to take my mother to the back seat. Said he couldn't endure her "fuck-up" much longer.
Jane—the coiled viper who stood beside him in silence while they whispered their vile little plans—I hate her too. But my true hatred… that's reserved for Steve.
Because he made the call. He put the plan into motion.
I'm convinced—if he hadn't acted, my father would still be alive.
I watched as he glanced back through the mirror, probably checking the road where my father's body now lay. His eyes softened, and I could tell—the beast chasing us had stopped.
His shoulders relaxed. He sighed. The pressure in the car shifted. He was relieved.
I couldn't see outside—my tiny frame was cradled in my mother's arms—but I felt it. I listened. I paid attention. My senses and instincts were sharper than ever. I was forced to rely on them now.
Even I… sighed in relief.
Because if the beast had kept coming, I had no doubt those two bastards would've sacrificed my mother next.
But then it happened.
A voice.
A female voice began whispering in my head, sweet and seductive… but carrying with it unbearable mental pain. My skull throbbed as though it would split open.
The voice echoed like a demon's whisper.
'They killed your father! They'll kill your mother! After everything your parents did for them! This was how they repaid them! Was all this for nothing!? Take note. Get your revenge!'
Each word stabbed into me like a blade of fire.
It wasn't just a voice.
It was a command.
And I don't know why, but it felt divine… absolute. Like the decree of a god. I couldn't deny it. I couldn't resist it.
Before I could fully process what was happening… my vision darkened.
Everything turned black.
I fainted?
Or… did I die?
Just what the hell happened?
But somehow… my consciousness lingered.
So I'm certain—I'm not dead.
Not yet.

A/N:
Alright guys, it's come to my notice that I've been wasting time on Lancelot and co, writing his part is boring for me as well as I want nothing more than to get to the interesting part like you guys. Deus would make an appearance in the next chapter coming tomorrow and from then henceforth, there'll be back to back 'action'.
